  1. I had a scary one from UPS. I had a load of deliveries over a couple of weeks all coming via UPS. Then my mum text me to say she'd had a message on the old mobile phone at her house (a phone number I used for about a year between ages 15 and 16 ish, then gave to her, but that even she hasn't used for about 6 years or more). She said she assumed it was a scam, and the text was from 'UPS' about a parcel containing an iPhone (which obviously I knew I hadn't ordered - plus how would UPS know what was in the package?) but it had my name in the text and my current mobile number!! :'( where does this info come from?! And how had they linked those two phone numbers to me?! It was just so weird. What do you do for a living? I'd be so interested in the scams they come up with!
  2. Yes, I believe he is a tiler (one who now just takes on the jobs he wants to). The floor is very uneven where an extension has been built, so there will be some work required with the levelling etc and obviously some of the cost is materials too. I just don't know anything about it haha! Thanks for the input!
  3. Well hello Briskoda. It's been a while! I have a random question and thought where better to air it than amongst this pool of people right here! No idea how many people actually still post here but I'll try anyway :) So, I need some tiling doing, I had a quote from a friend's stepdad and as I have literally no idea how tiling works, I wanted to just see if it's around the right ball park. I will also try to get some other quotes, but that would take more time so for now just as a guess it would be handy to know! The area has been measured as 32sqm (kitchen, backroom, utility and toilet) and price includes "preparation, levelling boarding, levelling compound, flexible adhesive and grout, plus a chrome trim for tile skirting, removal and replacement of toilet and sink in order to tile under them" that's come to £1950. I have no idea how much the materials are so I cant even guess as to what it should be! If it's a good/reasonable price them I'm happy. I just have no idea if it is! Thanks anyone who can advise! :D
  4. I had a similar problem once. I clicked a link on facebook that had a recipe on it. It then started a "sign up" process and ended up saying you'd be signing up to a subscription of £4.50 a week. So I didn't complete the registration, and just clicked "back" to go back to facebook. Next thing I know I had a text saying I'd been charged £4.50 for this subscription, despite not agreeing to it, or clicking confirm, or going through their 'sign up' procedure. I cancelled the sub, but it had still taken money from me, which p***ed me off. I contacted Three and asked why they'd allowed someone to take £4.50 from me without my consent. They said that basically your phone bill is effectively a credit card, and people can charge whatever they like to it! I expressed my dissatisfaction to them, and they were really good with helping me solve it. They contacted the company who took the money on my behalf and tried to get it back for me. It took ages, and eventually Three even paid it back to me themselves. On top of that, the company did eventually pay it me back. On the back of that, I told Three to cap my bill so that no one can ever charge me anything. It actually suits me fine as I don't want to accidentally ring premium rate numbers etc anyway. I didn't know until then, which was a few years ago, that things can be charged to your phone bill so easily, and that there's next to no regulation for it.
  5. Well I ordered a low class of card but unfortunately I can't find that exact card as it was so long ago and no longer have the packaging lol. So I've no idea. I did get it to record on an old crappy card but then when I did the same thing again it gave an error..... so I just don't know....
  6. Holy Thread Revival Batman....... Sorry guys... !! Only just got this cam in my car (yes, I know....) I got the £20 thing off the internet which was discussed in this thread. Couple of questions if any of you are still around to answer them? 1. How do you make it start to record without having to press a button (I wanted one that would just start up as soon as the ignition came on) 2. How come no file has actually saved to the SD card? I have a 32GB Samsung card. Does it need formatting a certain way? It created a DCIM folder, so it knows the card is there. However it hasn't recorded anything.... or do I need to press more than one button? :\
  7. In each case - yes, it is one person. Please tell me again how it doesn't involve the person who administers the dose? Actually, don't bother lol
  8. As above - I've seen people suffer too. I totally get the idea. All I'm stating are facts. And any time I come to think about it, I can see why the legal issues are greater (in the scheme of the country and future outcomes) than the one poor person sat in front of the judges. That is all.
  9. Been working in London since June Quaint London by Lorraine Bullar, on Flickr Tower bridge Flower Tower by Lorraine Bullar, on Flickr
  10. I upgraded to iPhone 7plus in September. Again, can't really fault the camera for a phone with a tiny little lens and tiny little sensor. The dual lens thing is actually more useful than you'd think too. I use the optical zoom function a LOT. This is especially nice as I'd never dream of using the usual digital zoom (on any camera let alone a phone), as it is just so terrible! So without the dual lenses I have a zoomless camera! some shots from the 7plus Look of love by Lorraine Bullar, on Flickr full night shot, from a distance, using the optical zoom Cityscape from the Thames by Lorraine Bullar, on Flickr technically quite a low light shot, as this was sunset Westminster Abbey at sundown by Lorraine Bullar, on Flickr another low-light one from work The Drum - HMRC/Treasury by Lorraine Bullar, on Flickr Hadn't intended to show all low light ones lol. Maybe I should pick some others?!
  11. As mentioned, it's no longer illegal to kill yourself. Even most life insurance policies will pay out for suicide these days. When you're asking about another person causing the death - that's the whole reason for the massive grey area and opens up a multitude of risks. And fwiw it does fit the legal definition of murder - to kill another person with the intention of killing or causing GBH.
  12. Yep, done the factory 3 times on various brisky trips!
  13. Hahaha! Mil though..... renowned for this sort of post :) he still on here! I think I have him on Facebook somewhere
  14. Of course it is! It very much involves people who will still be living, not least the doctor who administers the dose. Stop being so blinded by compassion. I've watched people I love die horribly. I'm simply highlighting WHY this has not been legalised. I'm not stating opinion or my own views/wishes/desires. So far what I have said is backed up by what has happened in court so far. I doubt this person will get a different result if I'm honest.
  15. Since when did the Swiss follow U.K. Law?.... I'm not so sure Alex, I think there is a LOT more to consider here and a lot more to go wrong in killing people that letting people of the same sex contract their lives to one another! And similarly - for freeing people from a lift of slavery into a much better life. There aren't really any negative impacts are there?
  16. Yup I know that, I'm just highlighting the reasons why it's never been legalised and is never likely to be
  17. Nice to have the choice .... yes, possibly(?!) but that's the point, all of the above still applies and it's about much more than the person who thinks it would be "nice to have the choice". Agreement of the family and next of kin? What? Why?! So because your daughter can't stand to lose their mother or father, that then removes the choice does it? But the person with no family, or a more understanding family can have the choice? And which family members would have to agree? Just parents? Can siblings have a say? What about cousins? Do adoptive family count? What about estranged ones, or downright nasty characters that actually just want the inheritance? I think your post raises more problems than answers....
  18. This will go on and on, with the same arguments about compassion and "they should be able to decide when to end their suffering". Well yes, but there's more to it than that, which is why these cases fail again and again. You can't legalise murder. That's a very, very dangerous grey area to wade into, and one that would fairly quickly become a total mess. Where do you draw the line? This person is allowed to kill people, this one isn't. This person HAS to kill people because he's a doctor, but he doesn't want to. This family are pushing for their relative to be euthanised, but the relative doesn't want to. Maybe they'll agree because they feel like they are a burden? What happens when you can't prove they definitely consented and a doctor gets accused? What illnesses will be classed as "serious" enough? It may sound as though I'm being cold hearted, however this was something which inevitably came up during my degree and when it's explained in a text-book fashion it makes total sense. I will be very, very surprised if a day comes where this is legalised and I haven't been shocked on any of the occasions where these people didn't get their wish. Life is a hideous thing, and we can only hope that this poor man doesn't suffer for long :(
  19. I remember Burrs 06, though I was just on a day trip to that meet with Shifty. Burrs 07 however probably ranks up there with the best weekends I've had! It was perfect - I'd just bought Blufabi and it was the first meet I'd taken it to. When I arrived I wanted to wipe the flies off the front, and it somehow turned into a full scale lesson from Graham on how to wash my car properly! Why there were wash mitts, buckets and car shampoo present at a camping meet I'll never know! Ha! We had a game of "how many people can you fit in the boot of a superb" (was it 6?), grilled field mushroom, team raft building, alcohol and Emily had so much fun she had to rush off and buy new underwear!!! Hahaha! I remember a fab chilled Sunday afternoon in the on site pub with ColG and Grumpy, where I was persuaded to stay another night on the condition that col could get hold of that night's 24 for me to watch as I would miss it if I stayed! Lol. In amongst this, Sarah and Mark got in trouble from campsite staff for trying to have a shower together! :roll eyes: hahaha! And the best part - I didn't even have to sleep in a tent! Win :) Good times, oh to go back to those days....
  20. Yep. Me. But we always go in the other halfs Civic lol. Not sure how that stacks up on your survey?...
  21. Not been on here in a while, but just been made aware of this thread. Graham was one of the very first Briskodians I met, back in 2006 I believe. From there we built an interesting friendship based mostly around insulting one another! But were also good friends. Gutted to hear this sad news, and more so that it has been so long since we spoke. Rest easy Graham :(
  22. Revise!!!! Woohoo!!........ Might pop to Borough Market for lunch though
  23. Loz

    Hamdog?

Australia must have very different patent rules to us then! This isn't innovative or a step forward. It's just a bread bun. In a different shape. /facepalm
  24. I'm still on my iPhone 6, always been impressed with it "for a camera phone" as mentioned, I wouldn't go for high pixel count on such a minuscule sensor, as the pixels would be so tiny that it wont do the camera capability any good at all. Harder to pick up light etc. Pixel count is only useful for enlarging photos, and to be honest, the lenses and overall quality on phones aren't such that I'd be wanting huge prints from my phone!
