  1. One test drive was enough to convince me of the total superiority of the Mk II. Three months on I am delighted with the new car, and have absolutely no regrets. Certainly, it is a bit heavier on fuel, but the performance is much better. Others have mentioned the improved road holding, and I agree. Lots of extra mod cons too. Go for it!!!
  2. Nice one! Where is the rolling road, and what was the cost, if any?
  3. Hi! I'm an Irish owner of a Mk I Octy Vrs, and I always found the ride a bit harsh. After a test drive of the Mk II I was immediately won over, and have ordered one for the new year. The ride is superb. Here in Ireland we have terrible country roads, and in the city we have to contend with the most horrendous speed ramps. The new model glides over them with unbelievable ease. I have a bad back myself, but the new car is really excellent. Go for it! It is an incredible combination of sports car performance and handling, and saloon car comfort of ride.
  4. Basically, don't use your rear screen washer when it's very cold outside!
  5. Yeah, GREEN calipers! How did you manage that? The new ones I have seen on this green and pleasant isle have RED ones. Or have you been painting?
  6. I test drove a Mk II VRS recently (I own a Mk I) and was extremely impressed, particularly by the handling and smoothness of the ride. Both have improved. The wheels certainly LOOK easier to clean. Watch out though: the newer models all have RED brake calipers, as opposed to the green ones we all knew and loved.
  7. Any chance of the DSG in the VRS?
  8. I have been thinking of getting the new VRS (have a Mk I), but what you say about the diesel is v. interesting. I am especially interested in the DSG, which seems the way to go. Does anyone know if we're going to see it in the VRS?
  9. Hmm, I don't know. I'm struggling with whether or not to go for the Mk II, but am really quite pleased with my Mk I. The photos don't really convince me. I quite like the look of those black Mk Is. Very Darth Vadar-like and threatening. New shape a bit rounded perhaps. Round fogs a wee bit twee?
  10. Thanks for the points of comparison with the Mk I - that's what we really need to hear. Honestly, chaps, is there really any point changing? I know you've spent the money, and you want to be proud of your new wheels, but was it really worth it? Let's have some straight talking on this thread!
  11. I would just like to second the call made by WW VRS above: could someone please provide a comparison between the Mk I and Mk II Octy VRS, and tell us which is REALLY the better car? Basically, is it worth changing or not? From what I can see, there may be very good reasons for keeping my faithful Mk I.
  12. Best trade-in price on my old car in Dublin. Really friendly salesman Joe. Couldn't fault them on anything. Super car.
  13. Anyone out there know anything about the new VRS?
