  1. Agerbundsen, thanks so much. I can't give you the science but what you have said falls right into my thoughts on the problem. This afternoon instead of stopping at aforementioned next town I turned around and kept the journey going a bit longer. (Driving this time in 5th not going to 6th.) When I turned around and sniffed the air the DPF was definitely regenerating. By the time I got back it was all over and when I pulled up there was no smoke or smell. (I checked with engine still running). Turned off and fans stayed on for about 4 minutes. But the cycle had definitely passed during the journey. Therefore it must be to do with regen. Like you I ask why is it doing it so often? Is it just the coincidence that the drive between two villages was just right for the switch on of regen? who knows. It doesn't entirely explain the amount of exhaust being expelled into the engine cavity though. How many clamps are there in the vicinity that should be checked for seal? Many thanks, I have a lot to go to the dealership with. Thanks to you the problem should be short lived rather than a voyage of discovery! Cheers
  2. Hi Agerbundsen, I too have noticed recently that there is exhaust fumes coming from with in the engine compartment of my Yeti. It is not coming through to the cabin but I notice is from the shell arch when the lights right and I am idle. It is not all the time though and I wonder if it has something to do with the DPF purging. That said I have never had the warning light on. I do short trips and longer journeys but most common is a 23km journey from my house to the next town which starts at 70kph into 100kph until destination. It is this run that typically I notice the fumes and the fans stay on blowing hard for a few minutes once I switch off. (btw, really good fans). Does this mean that that particular journey activates a a clean out of the DPF and I seem to be always switching off th car during it. There is no indication on the dashboard that it is cleaning itself which would be useful to avoid switching off during the cycle. My dealership did manage to tighten the clamp which has been mentioned above and there is certainly soot showing on the bolt but not much in the surrounding area. I had thought that the tightening had actually done the trick but the other night once again returning from the next town, arrived home to the fumes, heat and fans running on switch off. I am taking it back to dealer as its a 2012 car but wonder if any one out there can shed further light on the subject. There aren't many Yeti's around here! (but they will catch on). My yeti is 2.0 Tdi 103kw DNA'd (greentune) to 140kw.
  3. Hi all. Can anyone help with some guidance. I am loving my new Yeti here in New Zealand. To date I have only seen two others! It came with the Amunsden Radio/navigation system but there is no map data for new zealand so the Navigation element is just a nice colourful Skoda logo. Are there any techies out there that might know how to get map data onto a SD card that might be readable by the system? Where do we even start with such a project? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I think it needs to be sorted, one day when you come to sell the car all you will see is those little scratches and if you've looked after everything else in the meantime it may lead to regrets. I speak from experience.
  5. Thats right. NZ site NZ dealer but global brochure. Thats why I made the point that (in a less organised world) the the websites are feeding from global sindication and not payong attention. Bottom line is the factory produces. So I demand the same. The regional differencea seem to by phone not the brochures.
  6. They have. It was the old circular route. "that spec is not available in NZ" They make it sound like it's out their hands. Hmmmmmmm. Some pressure is required. I shall report back!
  7. Yes, gadgetman, I have realised that the brochures are region specific. I was reading the spec for my car from a brochure off the NZ website. It seems actually that brochures are GLOBAL!
  8. I am cheered by your success. You said Skoda Auto was happy to please the customer. Can you troll through your emails and let me know who you dealt with? Also I am getting the picture that I could lean on the NZ importer a little more.(or a lot).
  9. You make a good point, I am sure I will have to (quickly) get over the colour thing and move on! The struggle for perfection will need to be balanced with necessity. But maybe that is what the Yeti is now, a compromise, unless Skoda come to the party.
  10. Quite right and I was hoping for the roof on my new Yeti to be the only Black in the colour scheme. I had assumed though that the "Gobi sand/ experience " colour scheme was available in the UK. Leads me to ask, where is it available? why is it in the brochures luring excitement under false pretences.
  11. Good morning everyone, i,ll try to be brief! I am moving to New Zealand from Scotland early 2012 and have already ordered a new YETI from a dealer in Auckland. With the lead time required we have ordered early to guarantee it is waiting for us when we arrive. We are very excited about the car. We are going for the muscovado with a black roof, 2lt TDi. The only spec being imported to NZ is the elegance which is fine as thats what I want. However, when we looked through the brochure when it came time to order, amongst all the black/grey interiors there was a revelation. The "DUNE interior" with its "GOBI SAND" and dark trimmed seating and BLACK/GOBI SAND coloured dash board, illustrated with a lateral "BOREAL WOOD" decor panel along the dash. WOW! "EXPERIENCE" is the name of the interior and it even includes matching sleather teering wheel and grear stick. WOW AGAIN! FInally something out of the ordinary in a well priced vehicle....That is, until the moment we were told that the "Gobi Sand" interior was not available for cars heading to NZ. Our hearts sunk. Why oh why put so much into a unique, sophisticated slightly quirky vehicle, do ALL the rights things with add ons as standard and the electronics, wrap it in cool, some might say challenging colours, then...open the door and hear the sound track scratch to a peircing halt as you are confronted by SAME OLD-SAME OLD. Black or Black/Grey with black dash. I want to get in touch with THE BOSS (of Skoda) and have a grumble but also ask if this Gobi Sand interior can be put in my car! It's being made in the same factory ofter all, for me with my spec and extras, why not the cool interior as well? Can anyone tell WHO and HOW? Thanks in anticipation.
