  1. Superb 2.0 TDI CR Laurin & Clement 170PS DSG 4x4 5 dr 19,300mile New car arriving and no space for keeping this car, so must sell. I do not want to sell to a buying service so they can sell it on at a profit. I prefer another member gets it cheaply. This is the second Superb I have owned (first one was Elegance trim) and this has everything possible fitted as standard. Selling to hopefully replace with new model L&K estate. This was a main dealer demonstartor purchased by me with approx. 7500 miles on the clock. Balance of manufacturer's 3-year warranty (registered 01/07/2014). 20,000 miles or 24 months service interval (just serviced at 19,113 miles). New front Continental tyres fitted 3 days before the service. VED: £145 pa. In-door umbrella still in its wrapper!! Candy white with brown leather upholstery. Twin-door boot opening - can open as a boot or full hatch. Intelligent 4-wheel drive to 18" Sirius diamond cut alloys (protected by Alloygator wheel protectors). 1968cc 170PS diesel to 6-speed auto DSG gearbox with sports setting and manual option. Adaptive front-light system with Bi-Xenon headlights. Auto lights and wipers with headlight washers. Cruise control. Multi-function steering wheel. Optional engine stop-start technology. All 5 leather seats are heated with front seats ventillated (also "memory" so self-adjust depending on which of the two keys is used, along with the heated / folding wing mirrors, which also darken with the self-dipping central mirror - the nearside one can also tilt down to show back wheel when reverse is selected). The front windscreen is elctrically heated, as are the wing mirrors. Live tv via digital tuner, DVD / CD player, MP3 input in central console (which is height adjustable), bluetooth connectivity. All via Columbus colour touchscreen and 10-speaker sound system. Recently updated satnav system linked to maxi-dot display in instrument cluster. Sunset privacy glass in rear . Space-saver spare wheel. A great car in excellent condition. I have tried but cannot add photos here. Sorry - my lack of ability. Advice welcome......I have them in Picassa. I can email them to anyone interested You can call me direct on 07545 320201 or email at [email protected] for more information.
  2. My apologies for starting a new topic but I cannot discover how to edit my query from a few days ago. Firstly thanks to Wavey Davey for his reply; I am sure that you are correct because I have dismounted the rear facing camera (Smart Witness Smart-i Duo with the main camera mounted on the centre brakelight housing and the secondary camera looking left to cover the side - I have a similar arrangement at the front with the main camera behind the rear-view mirror with the secondary cam looking right...........just because you are paranoid doesn't mean no one is after you!!!) and held it away from the rear screen and right under where the shark fin is and there is no problem with the digital signal. If I bring the main cam anywhere near to the rear screen the digital signal dies, so my earlier idea of attaching low on the window is no good. Even trying it as far away as the back of the central headrest has the same bad effect. So the digital aerial is definitely in the rear screen. I have swapped the cameras over, used a different power supply directly from the car via the power point in the back of the centre console - same result. Usually power is from a socket wired from the fuse board in the dash (via an inline fuse, of course) so it doesn't interfere with the Cambus. Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know if I can shield the camera somehow. I dont want to swap the main camera to the secondary position as the resolution of the secondary cam is lower I believe and the main cam is bulkier to mount in the side window. I would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks.
  3. Hi Please can someone tell me if the shark fin on the roof of a 2014 Skoda L & K Superb diesel 170 hp hatchback is for the digital tv and DAB radio? Also that the heating element on the rear screen is just that, and not also an antenna. Is the roof mount also the GPS? Reason for asking: I had a problem with a dashcam looking out of the back window mounted on the plastic housing of the central brake light and it interfered with the digital signal. It seems ok if I relocate it low on the back screen but I will have to stick the mount over a corner of the element.
  4. Hi pmk76 Thanks for the time taken and apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I appreciate the attached thumbnails. Slight difference on my Columbus in third button down on right is marked "Traffic" rather the "TMC". I wonder if this means a different head unit? Gone into setup and telephone but only have three choices: update phone book, delete call lists and speed dial. The other two are not there at all (not even greyed out). I did a full factory reset of everything but it did not clear the phone. Funny, I mentioned that I was able to get connection sometimes; I took the battery out and gave it an overnight charge just in case I could trigger some kind of reboot. Now the phone connects up every time but stays linked for only about a minute and it is only during that brief time that I can get anything on the telephone menu - if not connected then the three menus are greyed out and revert to grey when the connection dies each time. Do you think a lump hammer would help?
  5. Thanks pmk76. But sadly I cannot find the menus. I will look again tomorrow and let you know.
  6. Hi Ladies and Gentlemen I have a black 2008 Superb Elegance 2.0 litre / 170 HP diesel automatic which was the local dealer's demonstrator for the then-new model, so it has everything fitted except television. It is a fabulous car, probably the best out of the (maybe) 70 I have ever had. Only less than 43,000 miles on it. Just before Christmas the engine management and pre-heater lights came on and "take to workshop" message came up on the maxi-dot. I took it into a local garage which is tied to a taxi firm here in north Liverpool, said to be the biggest taxi operator in Europe, and most of the cars are Skoda Octavias and Superbs, so they have all the equipment and experience that a main dealer should have. Fault was the throttle-valve seal leaking. The repair seems fine but.......... the recent destination list disappeared from the sat-nav (but system working ok and building memory list again) and the 'phone memory and most of the menus for it have gone and that is the problem. Only "Connect" and "Search" initial one coming up on the maxi-dot. My 'phone is a Samsung Galaxy SII (GT-19100). It still shows that it is paired with SKODA_rSAP and the car's maxi-dot shows that it is paired to the Galaxy. Device Search always discovers the phone and I can unpair the car from the 'phone and re-discover and pair up with the car. I have tried to delete the phone from the car but the various menus have disappeared. The speed dial pre-sets, logs and phone book have also gone. SOS available via car's SIM. I have taken the car back to the garage and the foreman mechanic spent a lot of time with me trying to sort this out. He told me that the battery was never disconnected (and the radio retains all its pre-sets) and we tried re-setting the phone from the steering wheel and set up menus to no avail. He did disconnect the battery to see if the system would re-boot and we were able to connect momentarily several times and the numbers dialled and incoming from another mobile registered in the logs and have stayed, but the connection broke each time after a few rings. I have searched the forum as best I can (spent hours and found out lots of interesting things) but cannot find about my problem. Here is the plate fixed to the top of the module, located under the driver's seat. Please, can anyone help me? Thanks in advance. Phil Jones. **!*!!!! Unable to fix photo here.......it is on the page until I press submit. I hope I have attached it! Nope.....it is 2.65 MB. Happy to email to anyone who can help me. My email addy is [email protected].
  7. Thanks Soundwerks. Bit late/dark/raining now so I will llok in the morning................will let you know if it is so for future reference.
  8. Hi Ladies and Gentlemen I have an ex-demonstrator Superb II Elegance with all the extras already fitted. I intend to keep it until it is used as my funeral car, I like it that much. The only thing lacking is DAB radio so I have just biught a Sonichi adaptor and Autoleads antenna. The antenna is the film-type to stick to the glass and I want to attach it to the front windscreen on the left side. I can easily detach the edge of the trim into the door aperture but the edge to the glass is more difficult. It needs to come off at least part way because the antenna has a self-adhesive copper strip which needs to be earthed to metal, although I have found that the DAB radio works ok with just laying the antenna on top of the dash. Also, of course to conceal the wire. Please can anyone advise me on freeing the trim-to-glass edge of the trim? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi Taurean7 I too wanted to fit some ring DRLs to an 3 year-old Superb and the dealer agreed to fit them if I supplied them as a little sweetener to the deal. However, supposedly after trying, they told me that the Cambus could not be altered to fit them. I have a set of Ring Ursa lights I had had only recently fitted to a Saab Sportswagon which I sold to buy the Superb. Took them back off the Saab before selling it. (http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/product_detail.asp?prod=2299). Ring's instructions is just take a feed from a circuit going live with the ignition (I like the idea of the fuse-spurs) and a feed from a wire going to the first car light to come on -which will then extinguish the DRLs via a relay. With my very little knowledge of electronics, it does not seem to me that this would effect the Cambus in any way, or a rectifier diode could be in line with the feed from the car light to prevent any feedback to the car wiring. How did you get on with it? I would be most interested to know.
  10. Thank you. I had no problem downloading - no registration or password required - but there was about one minute delay getting into the server, so you need to be patient. I have downloaded them for future reference and it is easy to click on an item in index and go straight to the page. Great topic.
  11. Hi Ladies and Gentlemen I have a September 2008 Superb Elegance 170hp diesel saloon which I bought used at 3 years old and paid top price for it. It was the demonstrator so has everything and I love it. Great to drive, good mpg, and full of toys. I am the third owner in the book. However......... The front edge of the upper and lower sections of the trim on both B pillars keeps coming away. I noticed it after a couple of weeks and took it in to the dealer (has 1 year Skoda approved warranty, so still in force) and it was returned looking ok. But after a few days I noticed the trim was loose again - it is possible to see what I assume are the side airbags (long grey cassettes) behind them. It is easy to press them back but they come loose again by next day (preumably the slight flexing of the shell allows this). Just had it allegedly "fixed" again by the dealer but again they are away again at the edge towards the front door seals. Apart from the cosmetic thing (and no doubt they would try to knock down the value on a trade in) I and worried about safety. No warning lights are showing so I presume the airbags are still ok. Do the airbags erupt through the trim if triggered (as the dash and steering wheels ones do) or should the trim detach to allow them to inflate (no indication of them having been triggered before). Seems to me there might be a risk having this sharp-edged plastic flying off so close to the jugular. Please can anyone advise? Two more problems: the maxi-dot menu no longer shows "phone" and the 'phone cannot be operated from the steering wheel buttons although it works ok via the central display. Again, grateful for any help or reference to elsewhere on the forum (I have looked without success). Lastly the interior fan has suddenly ceased to work. The lights and central display still come on but no breeze. I have checked two fuses as listed (F24 in engine compartment and 40 in right-hand end of dash). Once more, any help appreciated before I take it back to the dealer. Thanks in advance. Phil J
  12. Hello ladies and gentlemen I am new here and to Skoda. I recently bought a 2008 Superb II Elegance 170 hp saloon ex-demonstrator traded in for a new one. I had intended buying a new estate because of the very enticing zero VAT and two years interest free deal; unfortunately there is a 17 week wait for delivery and the deal ends before then - not even an order qualifies, has to be a done deal. I liked the test drive so much I bought this used car (dealer only had 2 used Superbs!) and sold my 2006 Saab Sportswagon privately. Now the problem. I took off the Saab a pair of Ring Ursa DRLs which had been simple to set up (feed from a fuse going live on ignition, earth and the third wire from the relay box piggy-backing onto the low beam so that the DRLs went off when the car's own lights went on). The Skoda is too old to have OE DRLs in the fogs and the DRL setting in the car itself via set up turns on the low beam headlights but they are too much. The car is black and I drive motorways a lot and already there are plenty of new cars with legally-required DRLs and I fear it won't be long before a car without them becomes almost lost to a driver pulling out into the overtaking lane (especially a black car and especially on motorways). The cheapest / easiest solution would be to install the Ursa lights under the front bumper - but how? The loom to the lights is impossible to understand. I can only just about figure out where to earth them, and the fuse layout under the bonnet does not match the manual to get a feed. Has anybody fitted such lights? I have searched this site but the references all seem to be to factory-fitted ights, and it is all far too technical for me. Never underestimate the stupidity of some of us, so if anyone can help please try to make it as simple as possible and earn my grateful thanks (and maybe prevent me getting wiped out by someone who has assumed there is a gap in the traffic). Thanks in advance.
