attached pics taken before cleaning. You'll see the residue around the inner TB and on the edges of the butterfly flap. The third pic shows the black slug like plastic cover which was removed to reveal the TB. This is done by loosening 3 hex screws and lifting upwards. Be careful not to disconnect the TB electrics. hope is of help tonnoir.

check your door seal. I had to reseal the panels on both rear doors. There's a "how to" on here somewhere. Takes about 1 hr per door.

While cleaning the throttle body on my fabia 1.4 8v mpi I noticed a small hole in the pipe circled yellow on the attched pic rougly indicated by the arrow. Does anyone know what this pipe is called, what is it for, what goes though it? Is there a part number. By the way, by cleaning the throttle body in situ, which was a simple 15 min process, the car is driving a lot better, no longer suffers from poor idling at traffic lights etc and doesn't cut out shortly after staring in the mornings. I used carb cleaner. The TB was stinking !! regards tonnoir.

Hi unfortunately my brother (mechanic) had to break the lock mechanism from the inside. Only then and with a few bangs on the outside of the door did it open. We replaced the lock mech which was faulty but when we closed the door the new lock mech deadlocked. We got it open by gently banging on and around the area of the lock on the outside of the door. When we closed the door again and locked it, the lock has worked fine ever since. Apparently the lock has to align itself with the CCU which is why it did not deadlock the 2nd time we locked it. Folks Does anyone know why the following has happened.:confused::confused: To summarise 1. Central locking on O/S rear passenger door was playing up and stopped working altogether. Then the door deadlocked. Fortunately I had the door card off and the mechanic was able to break the lock from the inside and get the door open again. He fitted a new lock mechanism which was working. Then the door deadlocked again !!!!, within 2 mins of being fitted. Anyone know why it has done this. We then disconnected the battery in a vain attempt to try and get the lock to reset but it is still deadlocked. Fordfan have narrowed prob down to what I think is the door lock itself. Do you have a how to for replacement of the lock. Also, as the door no longer opens at all, how do I get it open. I already have the door card off. thanks tonnoir.

On the attached pic of a door control unit. Is it possible to only change the bit of the unit highlighted yellow as this contains the electronics or does the whole unit / window motor have to be changed. tonnoir

I have a 2001 Octavia 1.9 TDI. The central locking has stopped working only on the drivers side rear passenger door. My CL is by key not a remote. The electric window works ok both with the switch on the door and with the console on the drivers door. Also when I lock the drivers door and keep the key to the left the window on the passenger door closes, as it should do.

Hi does anyone know how to remove the door control unit from rear drivers side door. Have central locking fault on that door only and think the unit may be the problem.:confused: tonnoir.

Ordered handle from Skodashop. Didn't arrive so phoned them. They said they would post another one, which didn't arrive either. By the way the part no. on thie website is wrong. It is actually for the cap with a hole for the key barrel, is grey and is primed. Has anyone got one of the black rear passenger door handle caps (even 2nd hand will do) which they would be willing to send. tonnoir. :confused:

Hi, have owned car for past 4 years and window regulators not been replaced. Had door panel off, all wires look ok and no signs of water or corrosion. Is this a motor or lock mechanism problem ??

Does anyone know what the implications would be of disconnecting the battery so that i can top up PAS fluid level. I have a 2000 1.4 MPI 8v Classic and the fluid reservoir is underneath the battery. Bright spark who ever thought of that design ! Some threads have said that the immobiliser might loose its settings and so will need to be reset by a dealer. Is this true ? thanks tonbl1

Spevie, sorry, unsure if it's an aftermarket kit. It's not remote c/l. Haven't got pics of front door as only resealed back doors to fix leak problem. Maybe someone else on Briskoda might have pics you need. tonnoir

Lummox, good to see you're back. The flickering external and dash lights, PASwarning light etc were due to a faulty PAS angle sensor which i replaced. Everything has worked fine since replacing the sensor. My new problem is the total failing of the power steering. Is this the battery or perhaps steering pump related? regards tonnoir

Hi all, wife was turning left out of a parking space when the PAS warning light came on and all power went from the steering. Recently replaced steering angle sensor to solve a flickering lights, intermittent power problem. Anybody ideas what could be causing the total power steering failure this time.:confused: Also I recently sorted the common problem of leaking ancilliary carrier seals in the rear doors. Attached are pics of the carrier. No doubt others will have the same problem. tonnoir.

Hi, own a 1.9tdi octavia ambiente 2001. Wife whacked passenger side wing mirror and cracked the glass, wing mirror casing OK. Does anyone know where I can get new heated glass to fit back in the wm casing. The electrical connection is undamaged. cheers :eek:

hi all recently purchased 2000 fabia 1.4 mpi. It has started pulling to the left, quite a bit. Tested it on straight motorway etc. Had wheels tracked, still no improvment. PAS warning light now comes on intermittently while driving. Does anyone know if the PAS could be causing the car to pull to the left or is it a steering rack or other problem. suggestions welcome cheers. :confused:
