  1. Sorry for bumping an old post but i had the same problem, found lots of other people with the same issue but no solution. My pd130 octavia mk1 had a chaffed wire on top of the starter motor which caused the reverse lights to stop working. Chopped out the bad wire and soldered in a new piece and working again. Hope this helps those that are still looking for help.
  2. Just sorted my 2008 fabia that had the same symptoms, broken red with white tracer wire in the drivers door loom boot (into chassis plug) soldered an extra piece of wire in (10mm) to hopefully prevent from happening again too soon.
  3. Sorry to bump but just cleaned mine out this gone weekend, did it a year or so ago too. Maybe a 6-monthly removal and grub out of them is best? Spent a few hours sunday removing the plastic underseal type stuff that has been cracked & opened from tyre fitters ramming metal topped jacks under, causing water to go between the underseal and the body, so wire brushed it all off and put some proper underseal mix on along the inside and outside edge of the lip on the sill. Should protect it for a few more years. *Also, instead of making another thread or asking for part numbers, can anyone tell me if the vRS front arch liners are different to the non vRS ones, as I have a vRS front bumper but the arch liners don't seem to fit great, may just be me though.
  4. Fuel consumption is still pretty good to be fair, 45-52, I'm a pretty steady driver though, maybe I should drop it down a cog to rev it more, creating more heat... How much for the grill covers? Are they designed to allow them to heat quicker? As to the heater problem, what/where is the temp control flap/motor? I'll have a look on that Ross Tec when I get on a PC. Thank you all again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Just been under the boot floor, no damp or moisture although one small bung was missing at the front of the spare wheel well, approx size of 5p, i've put a bung in it so will see if that makes any difference. I did the code test and mine came up with 4F7 00. I've just had the pollen filter out and shook it out (not much rubbish in there anyway) and checked for damp in there, none either. What is the flap under the pollen filter, how do I open / close it? (it was open when I removed pollen filtrer) Also checked the carpets for damp, nothing at all. I might get a friend to put a smoke machine in it (automotive type) and see if that can show anything. The drivers door seal has a slight nick in it, approx an inch long, clutching at straws no so may buy a good, used one to eliminate it. Shame really cause it's never asked for anything this car but these things drive you mad. I'll google these grille covers, I imagine they look awful but if they do the job then so be it!
  6. I'll try the above, thanks for the informative replies. I got told to drive with air con on all the time, I also put a new pollen filter in a year ago and that seemed to solve the problem for a week, but it may have been a placebo or the weather! My journey to work is about 5/6 miles at anywhere from 45-65mph and my temp guard normally struggles to even move is this normal on the diesels? Mine is the elegance so does have climate control and a sunroof. Thanks again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I know it's a common problem but it's really starting to p1ss me off now! My mums 307 diesel (03) plate, cleared the screen in about a minute. My 04 tdi I have to warm it up before I leave for work, and even then the rear window doesn't clear as it's that wet. No obvious damp in the car, but has anyone found why the mist up so easily? Love the car but this really grinds on me for 8 months of the year! I've tried some dehumidifying boxes etc. Hope someone can help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Bugger missed the promo! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Cheers, I'd never heard of lemforder till I spoke to ECP. The thing is they tell you it's OE, or OE equiv, you just don't know what to believe! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I'm going to replace my ball joints on my octavia and don't want cheap nasty ones that I'll have to do again next year so would rather fit & forget. But who makes skoda balljoints OE? Delphi? QH? Is there any way of finding out who makes OE parts for the Mk1 Octavia as there's hundreds of brands quoting "OE quality" but they're just cheap Chinese tat! it may be easier just go to the local Stealer but thought id ask first! 11. Woops sorry. Can someone move this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Anyone good on Photoshop? I'd love to see a Mk1 Octy vRS in race blue... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Any news on this? B*ggers need their balls chopping off & feeding to them. Really sorry to hear it. Will keep my eye out in Lincolnshire! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Done it thanks to a friend who was a bit more daring than me. Wish I'd been a bit more rough now, as he made it look easy. As the bonnet is on the prop, pull the passenger side scuttle panel up at the same angle as the bonnet is sat at. Then same with the drivers side. Cleaned all the leaves & crud out and replaced the pollen filter while I was there! Jobs a good'en.
  15. I've just tried to remove my scuttle panel to clean the leaves & crap from underneath and ended up getting that p'd off with it I had to put it back together and leave it. Firstly the wiper arms were seized on the splines, got those off my getting some mole-grips under the arm and on top of the nut and clamping the moleys together. Anyway, as i've got my head under the bonnet, the edge of the scuttle panel closest to me lifts up easily, but I can seem to get it off the bottom of the screen and I don't want to force it off / break my scuttle panel itself. I can get both halves of my scuttle panel to move side-to-side but that's as much as I can get. How exactly are they held to the bottom of the screen because I can't see any clips (in fairness, there's not a lot of room to look is there)
  16. You've baffled me, poor brain! I did try one of those tape to iPhone Audio jack, but it only played out of one side of the cars' speakers! Might have been a dodgy one I suppose... So unless I get another headunit (which I don't want to) the only options I have are that tape converter or the crap radio transmitter I've got at the minute?
  17. I've already bought one of those radio transmitters that plugs into your iphone/ipod audi jack and it was terrible for interference! Just wondered if there was a way of connecting an audio lead into my factory fitted headunit, as I don't want to fit a Halfrauds special one as I ideally want to keep it standard, and I have a 6 CD changer in the boot. Mine is the type with the tape player in the dash with no CD slot (all in the boot) and it has climate control, its the 2004 (mk1) Elegance model TDi. I'll have to get a pic unless someone knows the one I mean. I haven't had it out to see if there is an aux in but most cars nowadays have aux inputs in easy to find locations :( helppp!
  18. I've noticed this the last two years with my MK1 octy. Brill in the summer and as soon as it gets cold, condensation gets the better of it :( it really annoys me as you have to have the car running for a good 5 mins before it clears, and mine being a diesel takes a while to warm up...it annoys me that much i've bought a 1litre petrol pug 106 to get my through the winter, and the fact if worst does come to worst and the 106 ends up in a hedge then it isn't my trusty skud. Do those pollen filters help at all diesel owners (mk1 if it makes any difference) I'll have to give my octy a real good going over, making sure there's no damp to be found, only thing I can think of is getting in & out with wet shoes...oh well, roll on a winter in a peugeot!
  19. I also have a mk1 octy, although a pd130 boring daily, but have fitted a vrs front bumper, spoiler and wheels to make it look a bit less ... I also have an s1 rallye, I've had about 7/8 106 Rallyes in total and love them to bits, sometimes. Yours looks a minter though!
  20. Opened the boot on my 04 Mk1 Oct hatch after it was raining the other day and was welcomed with a splash from either side near the gas struts, is this common or is there a fix? Or could it just be down the sitting water? I didn't have anything valuable in the boot so luckily nothing got ruined but it looked to be splashing in well. PS - i've tried searching, but can anyone link me to the "gearbox oil change guide" for a mk1 Oct PD130 engine/box. Thanks in advance.
  21. Sorry to bump this can anyone give me the part number for the gearbox oil I need for my 2004 MK1 Diesel Octavia PD130 6 speed? Rang my local dealer and they said I need 2litres and it's about £15 per litre is this about right or shall I ring around? Thanks in advance...
  22. As above, for my dirty diesel with vRS bumper & spoiler. Same size as the actual vRS badge, is it about 100mm x 40mm ? Any help appreciated, I can't do photoshop etc!
  23. I just bought some aero ones off ebay for less than a tenner delivered! Fitted them in 5 minutes, look spot on and work well. The drivers side ones doesn't have the spoiler but I doubt this will make much difference. Jobsagooden!
  24. sorry for asking but what is the splitter off, looks very nice! very nice wheels, if they were 17" or 18" i'd have seriously thought about them!
