  1. Rockhopper, sir I stand corrected ! My english is bad, I think "rolling resistance" is what I should have said about driving on winter tyres in the summer/dry roads regarding the wear and fuel useage.
  2. Hi and welcome from another newbie! I am originally from the North east, between Morpeth and Newcastle, I left the area in 1976 but return now and again to see family.
  3. you find you get good service over here as most of the dealers are family owned ie the skoda dealer here, his daughter sold us the car and his son is workshop foreman.
  4. Hi from already snowy Switzerland Of course we have winter tyres here and I havent fitted mine yet, 50cm of snow on Saturday, the reason - I have just picked up my Yeti and I am waiting to get the tow bar installed and told the dealer that when I come in for the towbar I will fit the winter wheels however, the weather had different ideas ! A couple of points: In the UK you get wet heavy snow which makes the use of winter tyres more sense than the "all round" tyres usually installed as winter tyres have more sipes (cuts in the rubber) to clear the water away quicker from your footprint. If you use the winter tyres in the dry they will wear more quickly and also increase fuel use as they really stick to the road as they are made of a softer compound. A happy and safe winter motoring
  5. Hi, Winter wheels come as standard in Switzerland, normally your summer wheels are nice shiny alloys and your winter tyres come on steel rims. I usually change them myself but the dealer will change them for you and store them at the garage. You also mark the tyres with the position on the car so when you refit them you can rotate them around the car for even wear.
  6. Hallo, thanks for the welcome!
  7. Here in Switzerland (and maybe other countries) they offer a "Reef package" with special "Matterhorn" wheels etc. also comes with the roof painted a different colour to the body.
  8. Hi from Switzerland, Just bought a new Yeti (2 weeks ago) exchanging my Ford Explorer, totally new driving experience havent visited a petrol station yet Found this site as I was searching for the Owners Manual in English, which I found a link for, via one of the forums. One problem today, told the dealer I would pick up my Winter wheels (supplied with the car) at the end of Oct. when they are installing the tow-hook. Today woke up to snow and it is still snowing, currently over 30cm ! Dealer is 25km down the valley.
