I really like the direction skoda are taking with the design of their cars. I have a 02 reg Octavia and before that a 1996 Felicia. I have alway thought that with the exception of the VRS models the rest of the range was missing something. Now I think they have found that something that they were missing. Now if only my engine warning light would stop coming on and going off when it felt like it.

Wether it dates back to 1979 or not, I bet it is still better than the 1.4 16v. Just be thanful you didn't get that engine. Many engine designs can trace their routes back for years.

Felicia 1,3 Lx user manual

What do you want to know. I used To have the Lxi. -
That will be funny. You will get a little card through your door saying that you have a delivery that is too big to fit through your letter box. You will have to go and collect it from the post office. You will need one big jiffy bag for that.

I've seen an Octavia around Camberwell in London where the owner has changed the Skoda badge and put on a vw one. I didn't know that vw made an Octavia. So on the same note I am going to put a bugatti badge on my 1.4 16v Octavia. Bugati Octavia, I like the sound of that.

I read somewhere that the 1.0 engine used in the Lupo is actually a downsized version of the the old skoda 1.3 engine used in the Felicia. It was going to be used in the Fabia but it never made it to Briton.

Fifthgear, it's got vicky on it.

1.4 16valve. Brought new in March 2002. All 4 coil packs have been changed. It shakes like a drug addict who hasn't had a fix for 3 days when it's idleing. Drivers side speaker works when it feels like. It's only done 34.000 miles. Not really that impressed. My grandparents had a Volvo 850 2.5 litre, L reg that drove better than mine when it had 120.000 miles on the clock and 10 years of motoring. Engine still shifted like new. I'll be surprised if mine makes it to 80.000 without an engine rebuild. Well I suppose you get what you pay for.

How much have you spent modifying your car?

Isn't it a spare engine. In case the one in the front breaks:)

Or change the f**king engine and put something usefull in there. VW=****. I think I'll try a Ford.

Get the W**ker sacked. I am fed up with tw*t's who drive like c*nts just because they don't have to pay for the damage. I pay a small fortune to keep my car on the road.
-
Mine does the same thing. It's a 1.4 16valve Octavia. Judders like a **** when it's idleing. I won't be buying another Skoda. I think they were better before VW got their hand on them with their (so called) and undeserved reputation for reliability.

Looks like a Toyota.

The 1.9 sdi never had remote central locking. As far as I know it was only available as an option from the 2002 range on the classic.

Some **** has keyed the paintwork...

fabia vrs in top 40 hot hatches!!
CS100000 replied to mikejay's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Don't have one but I guess it has all the things you want in a hot hatch. It's cheap, it won't far apart after 10.000 miles (unlike a french hot hatch). It looks o.k and most importantly it p-sses off all the BMW drivers when they can't pull away from a Skoda. -
What's happening to the 1.9sdi engine in the Octavia. Will it make it to the mk 2 Octavia and if not-WHAT ARE ALL THE TAXI DRIVERS GOING TO BUY.

I just wish that Alfa knew how to put their cars together properly, so that they didn't break down every 15 minutes. At least my Octavia normally manages a few months before something goes wrong. Alfa just make the best looking afforable cars on the road. I think skoda should go and poach their design team. Don't get me wrong skoda's look good but there is just something missing from the designs. There is no innovation they are just safe, tidy and inoffensive. Mind you at least they haven't gone and hired a blind American to design their cars (unlike BMW). Who just wrecked their entire range (6 series excepted).

I'd probably buy another. I'd had two already. 1996-2002-Felicia 1.3LXI and 2002- Octavia 1.4 16valve. I've had more problems with the Octavia than the Felicia but that's been down to the engine ignition coils. (Complete crap). You could have problems with any car, they can all go wrong and break down. I would never buy one with a small engine again though and am thinking of in a couple of years getting a second hand VRS.
