  1. Thanks for your reply rum4mo, that makes sense and I have come across mentions on the internet about the "anti mooing" dampers when Googling my problems but never come across any images. I'll try taking them off (looks like they are only held in place with a alan key bolt) and see how I get on. Thanks for all of your advice and knowledge it certainly helps. I'll let you know how I get on as someone else may come across this problem / situation also. Kind regards, Stu.
  2. Hi all, I have the dreaded rear caliper binding / seizing problem, my rear pads were changed a few hundred miles back and the handbrake has gone from bad to worse to non existent! Until I manually un-seize them by pulling up on the arms. My off side rear wheel is a lot hotter to touch than the drivers side, although this also bites / seizes also, I can even hear a high pitch screech / scraping when driving sometimes where the pads are rubbing the discs I guess. I've read the whole of this extremely useful & helpful thread and I have ordered & received the 7H0 VW springs via my local TPS, I thought it would be worth trying this spring fix / upgrade first to see if it would hopefully cure my problem for under a fiver! My only problem is that I'm unsure on how to fit them as my caliper arms look different to all of the pictures in this thread, please see attached image My car is on a 54 plate, so maybe it's an age thing? The calipers have Lucas branding on one of the green plate on the opposite side. Does anyone else have these? Or have come across these before? Any fitting advice would be gratefully received & appreciated. Thanks in advance, Stu.
  3. Hi, just signed in and noticed your replies. I really appreciate the feedback and help / advice. My car is currently at a repair centre having a bit of body work sorted after a little ding I had the other day, bit gutted about it but can't grumble as it was my own fault. When I get it back I think I'll look into the slave cylinder problem, my car has done 126'000 miles now and I have no idea when the clutch was changed last, I guess it would make sense to just replace the whole assembly (clutch / DMF / CSC) Thanks to all again.
  4. Hi, After some advice / help please. Got an 04 1.9 TDi VRS, it's not mapped, I do have an IP power by PSI motorsport upgrade box thing: http://www.psi-motorsport.com/turbodiesel/ippower-e.php (Sorry can't remember the technical name for it) Over the past few weeks I've been experiencing weird clutch problems the symptoms are, whilst coming to a stop (in 1st gear) basically the engine / clutch still feels engaged at times even though I've got my clutch pressed all the way down, the only thing stopping it form driving / moving is due to my foot still being on the brake. When this does happen the gear box locks up a bit too so it's difficult to to get the car out of or into first or reverse gears. This mainly happens when I'm in traffic and having to start / stop the car a lot. Once the car is moving and I get into second gear on-wards the clutch / drive is fine. This morning it was noticeably worse, I took it to my local garage and they think that it may have something to do with the DMF / clutch. After a bit of Googling I see that some posts on this site indictae that it may also have something to do with the slave cylinder. I'm hoping that someone on here knows what my problem is or have experienced the same fault, any advice / help will be greatly appreciated. If you need any more details, ask away. Thanks in advance, Stu.
  5. Hello to the black 55 reg Fabia mk1 vRS that flashed / said hello to me in Ashford, Kent tonight (I'm a red 54 reg Fabia Mk1 vRS) I did try and flash back but you may not of noticed due to the angle of my car waiting to come onto the roundabout. 1st post on here. Been looking at the forum for a couple of weeks now. Already picked up some handy knowledge / tips / ideas for my car in the future.
