  1. this can now be locked please. car was p/exed today.
  2. I only knew I was getting a new car over the weekend and thought this would be the best place to sell my car. I thought the 100bhp 1.4 16v was quite desirable on here but perhaps not even more disappointing bearing in mind this is one that doesn't drink oil unlike plenty of others. It runs absolutely perfectly - again, why it's a shame I will be p/ex-ing. I just wanted it to go to the right person which is why I put it on here as like-minded people will know all the idiosyncrasies such as the leaking doors which have been resolved on my car, new headlights on mine as the old ones cloud up etc. I digress... I definitely agree with you, ebay would have been good for selling a cheap car like this but as time was very limited, I decided on putting it on here and unfortunately it didn't pay off. Perhaps I should have put it on ebay in tandem. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though. As for what's replacing it, an 07 reg Seat Leon Cupra. Very excited I have to say!
  3. Hi Mr Ree, You're incorrect though. If I was to sell my car for £510 here in Leicester, I would still need to get the train to Lowestoft. I need to leave at a "peak" time so the train ticket alone costs £60. Therefore that's a "profit" of £80. That in itself is a completely ridiculous concept. I haven't come across ANYONE who expects to pay the same for a used car in a private sale as its part exchange value. Hence why in any second hand car valuation book, the guide prices for a second hand private sale and p/ex are in different columns. The only difference on this occasion is that I have actually written on this thread how much I have been offered p/ex value. As for you answering the question in the first place, perhaps a rhetorical question doesn't come across on the internet? Agreed with you about "sheeple" though. I'm sure someone will be very happy to pay 1k+ when this ends up on a forecourt somewhere. May as well lock this thread as it clearly isn't going to sell. What a shame though. I have been completely honest and thought I had priced it well. Maybe next time I will have to write a less detailed description. Edited to add: just read that back and it sounds like i'm having a go at you! not at all, just don't think that "making a profit" was the correct phrasing oh well, new car tomorrow!
  4. I've messaged you. Just to be clear to everyone, I will be part exchanging this on Friday lunch time for £400 + £110 return on my tax, So time is running out a little now! My car is located in leicester. I'm driving to Lowestoft for midday Friday to pick up the new car.
  5. final reduction: £650. Half a tank of petrol in it and all that tax and ticket.... what am i doing wrong?!
  6. OK so I'm picking up my new car next Wednesday or Friday. I can trade this skoda in for £400 plus 110 refund on tax = £510. If anyone on here is interested but thinks £800 is too high, please let me know! Or if anyone thinks i need to provide more information or has any tips, please tell me. Thanks.
  7. For sale is my Y reg (Y76 UOP) skoda fabia 1.4 16V comfort (100bhp version) Tax until 31st May 2014, MOT until May 31st 2014 too. In excellent working order and has had LOTS of the consumables changed under my ownership. PLEASE READ ON! Location: Leicester, LE2. Price: £800 Photos: http://s1232.photobucket.com/user/ollie_cb/library/skoda%20fabia Mileage: 122875 Details: Everything is as standard apart from a different CD player. I bought the car in Nov 2011 and have changed the following: New head lights approx 4 months ago for £70 (old ones were very hazy) Doors sealed due to the usual leaks so this is a bone dry car! Driver’s side door carrier changed last year (£50) Coolant temp sensor changed due to lumpy idle. EGR valve cleaned LAST WEEK at a cost of £112 (included diagnostic as this had triggered engine warning light) New catalytic converter (£220 on 10th May 2013 – photo of invoice) New clutch (£225 on 17th March 2012 @100,463 miles – photo of invoice) New cam belt, tensioners, water pump (£260 on 29th July 2013 @118,650 miles – photo of invoice) 2 new tyres @ approx 110k miles.. cannot find invoice at the moment but tread can be seen from photos 2 new rear springs replaced in May this year before MOT. Thanks to help from peter3197 on here. New rear pads and discs @ approx 110k miles but cannot find invoice. Front poly-bushes changed at same time as near side wheel bearing at approx 115k miles I have also replaced the off side front wheel arch lining as it had a hole in it when i bought the car! So as you can see, anything that wears out over time has been replaced. Car runs really well and DOES NOT drink oil like some examples with the same engine. I barely have to top up between oil changes which have been every 6k miles since i bought the car. (10w40 fully synthetic oil used) Only small issues are: Dents in bonnet and off side arch thanks to debris from a car crash next to me (lucky escape!) Alloys a bit scuffed thanks to mum (see photos....alloys not mum!) Front seats a bit water stained – like that since i bought. They need removing and shampooing but i have never bothered Air con doesn’t work. Hasn’t since i bought the car. No idea what the issue is! The car pulls slightly to one side. When I had the two front tyres changed, I had them aligned too which I thought would solve the problem. Same with the front bushes and wheel bearing. I explained the car pulled after all this being done and the garage said that it’s nothing to worry about since it drives perfectly after having all this done Any questions please ask. As you can see, i am very honest and just want a quick sale. I’ve spent loads on the car since ownership. My reason for sale is that I am going to buy something a little sportier now i’m nearly 22. As I find more invoices, I will add them to the album. I have a whole stack of invoices that were given to me when i bought the car too.
  8. That's great, thanks. Well, after a lot of searching I could find the parts that are simply described as "clamps". However, I notice that there are also parts that connect the silencer and back box to the car which seem impossible to find on their own. Apologies for all the questions as i am very much a novice to stuff on the under side of my car but... is it likely that i would need these parts that connect the back box and silencer to the underside of the car? If my description is poor, i mean part numbers ONR312, ONR313 and ONR265 from the following links: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-1-4-00-03-CENTRE-EXHAUST-SILENCER-x1-Exhausts-/321020122345?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AFabia%7CCars+Type%3A1.4&hash=item4abe4a54e9 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-1-4-00-03-REAR-EXHAUST-SILENCER-BOX-x1-Exhausts-/321019734820?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AFabia%7CCars+Type%3A1.4&hash=item4abe446b24 I may in fact go for the above two parts anyway as they come supplied complete with clamps unlike the parts i sent in the links 2-3 posts up. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for that. ok so the garage said i need the back box and the middle section which implies these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-Hatchback-1-4-16v-1999-2006-Exhaust-Rear-Back-Silencer-Box-/290810904642?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b5ae4042 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-Hatchback-1-4-16v-1999-2005-Exhaust-Centre-Silencer-Pipe-/290810930309?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AFabia%7CCars+Type%3A1.4&hash=item43b5aea485 so that's £29 + £24.50 So, I assume these two parts connect with ease and i only need to purchase one connector for the middle section > front part that will still be original. OR do i need one to connect the new back box with new middle section too? Unfortunately I searched exhaust connectors (i have no idea what to search on ebay) and nothing comes up. May anyone point me in the right direction of what to search for?
  10. Well, thanks to Peter, the springs issue will be solved. However the exhaust... Someone must know whether these are one-piece from new or fitted in sections from new? And further to this, What about buying an exhaust second hand...?
  11. I don't want to diagnose without seeing but it is/was my off side rear that broke. When you sat down in the back on either side, it creaked.
  12. Fantastic. sorry I was having a blonde moment. I will drop you a PM.
  13. Thanks Peter, I appreciate that. Before i send you a PM, did you purchase the springs brand new or second hand off a scrapped car as I've suggested? I cannot find any new for a fiver: http://www.monroeshop.co.uk/rear-monroe-coil-spring--fits-skoda-fabia-6y2-14-16v-pn-sp3344-single_p22298682.htm?gclid=CPH-0dr71rQCFYXLtAodCAMAVg that's the cheapest new.
  14. my creaking turned out to be a snapped spring rubbing against the wheel arch lining. looks like there are lots of possibilities couldn't see anything amiss until it was on a ramp.
  15. Hi all, Now I have used the search function but type anything exhaust or spring related and all you get back are sports exhausts and coilovers... Basically, my offside rear spring snapped 2 weeks ago leading to it to rub against the wheel arch lining. A very helpful local garage provided a quick fix as i had to drive down to France the next day. Whilst it was up on the ramp, he observed that the middle and rear boxes were completely shot as i had been dreading - got an observation on the last MOT in May 2012. So, the car is a Y reg 1.4 16v. I am unfortunately rather short on money at the moment. I have been quoted £170 all in to get both rear springs replaced (should be done in pairs etc) and £210 all in for the middle and rear sections of the exhaust to be replaced. I am currently down south (Surrey) but go to uni in Leicester where labour per hour is a fair bit cheaper so will call a couple of places there soon. That is the background. I welcome your thoughts on: Is the original exhaust a one piece jobby so essentially the whole thing rather than the middle and rear has to be replaced? I didn't get a break down on price of parts + labour but as i really am short on cash, would it be worth buying these parts from a written off car? Judging by how meaty rear springs are, if a car has been written off in, say, a frontal impact, surely they would be find? I welcome your thoughts on keeping the cost down :(
  16. @fabdavrav, where might i find this remus back box? I need a new exhaust imminently so am contemplating upgrading rather than replacing with standard. Had a google for remus exhausts for the fabia including using their website but can find nothing? any pointers would be appreciated.
  17. Yes, it has been a while since i was last on here with a little niggle but alas, I must return! Basically, all the speakers - driver's door, passenger behind driver door and boot on driver's side have stopped working. I did a forum search with this thread coming up: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/220603-whole-driver-side-speakers-not-working/ but no conclusion. So as before, I will write a conclusion once i find one to help others. Anyway, before i pull off the driver's side door carrier system (again! :(), i thought i would ask here if there was anything i could try before this. All fuses have been checked and are fine. And no i haven't adjusted the stereo balance. Does it sound like a wire has become disconnected from behind the driver's door? OR, Could it perhaps be a little prong in one of the big wiring system terminals (such as where the electric window switch is) has been bent and isn't making contact? I find it nigh on impossible to work out wiring diagrams but do have a haynes manual. anyone who could tell me where to look in the manual for which wiring joint, i would appreciate it.
  18. Praise the lord. Thanks gents for the ultra speedy responses! I wonder what has made it sheer off... It doesn't look rusted where it has become detached, rather it has heated up greatly at both ends, weakened and eventually snapped off. 2k miles in the last 8 days cruising across France may have caused some sustained heating?
  19. Ok so i was just driving along and heard a scraping sound. I slowed down and then heard a huge metallic sound, looked in my rear view mirror and saw something in the road. Picked it up and this is what i found: http://s1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff380/ollie_cb/skoda%20fabia/ (please note, that's 2 sheets of A4 paper to give you an idea of size) What the hell is it?! Car drives no differently whatsoever. Going on holiday for a month tomorrowso will only be able to get the car up on a ramp when i get back. Thanks for looking.
  20. ok so i had a look at the wiring diagram in the haynes manual. bearing in mind my actual wiring is slightly different because i only have front electric windows. here is the electric windows diagram: http://s1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff380/ollie_cb/fabia%20wiring%20issue/ i have highlighted in orange where i believe the problem to be. i don't think it can be anywhere else but this tiny length of wire as otherwise, i would have other issues surely? could somebody tell me what part 70 looks like please? it is referred to as "driver's door control unit". now is this the massive black thing that is screwed into the door skin OR is it just the small cream coloured block that plugs directly into the back of the switches that control the electric windows?
  21. That's a kind offer, thanks. I'll do a bit more research first on the wiring for that switch as I don't want to waste your time with us not knowing what we're looking at!
  22. thanks. Well, I'll be replacing the fuses on Tuesday or Wednesday when they arrive and i bloody hope it's that. If not, i just don't get what it could be. I will have to take the whole door carrier etc off and trace back the wiring. but once i've traced it back as far as the door hinge, then what?! i assume it goes into a massive spiders web of wires behind the dash?
  23. Replaced the switch today. still not working. Please can someone give me some ideas?! I suppose fuses will be next.
