  1. I was actually trying to quote the quote you were replying to and by dint to clarify that there's a separate question going on. Sorry for the confusion, but it seems you can't nest quotes.
  2. No dispute about dynamic load under under braking, but the law in the UK allows for fitment of lower speed rating and lower load index (collectively known as Service Description). The plated max axle capacity is normally well above the running mass, and if exceeded represents an overloaded vehicle anyway. Tyres with a (lower) Load Index (but) which allow for this max axle capacity are legally OK if not necessarily endorsed by either manufacturer or insurer. Running non-pneumatic tyres i.e. solids is the only way to avoid the blowouts being referred to in extreme circumstances, transferring the stress to the wheels and suspension. Pneumatic tyres are the accepted OEM technology for a reason. A tyre size conversion may offer the "correct" or better Service Description in the same patter, but same issues apply. I've checked and I'm happy to do this if I accept any insurance and warranty implications. Different rules may apply outside the UK though. If you don't agree, do your own checks or just play safe and replace like with like; and pay the main dealer to do it if you want to get your leg lifted but stay super safe.
  3. Won't fit any Skoda, but: These are a set of wheels I bought for my Cayenne and fitted to my Touareg. I 've kept them thinking I might have one of the above vehicles again, but there comes a time to clear out your garage... They have only had the original set of tyres fitted by Porsche (original weights and valve stems are still on) and so are in excellent condition with no kerbing (although a couple of small stone chips which you can see in the photos). Also included are the coloured centre caps shown. Collection only from Worcs/Warks border. £600 email: phawmail-ph at yahoo.co.uk
  4. A mate has been using this on his PASSAT 140 (same loom but different settings) and he's now selling the car. Anyone want to make an offer for the Tunit?
  5. But there are plenty of chancers on Dragons Den pitching solutions for problems that don't exist. Don't get me wrong. A properly cleaned car can look amazing - but for how long? I just want a matte finish with a Teflon/PTFE coating that doesn't chip. By the time its developed I'll be too old to drive.
  6. I believe Orange Wheels is the online face of Listers Group, so local Listers should come close although salesman won't be too happy.
  7. Ditto. Glass first (and wiper blades) then top down squeezing the sponge out after any particularly dirty bits. I never submerge it far and leave floating for any sediment to sink. An old sponge is used for the wheels and sills at the end, and I hose down (again if hot and previously done before sills and wheels) but can never be bothered to chamois. I'll only ever wash if the car is not going to remain parked up - or skip the wheels so the brakes don't get wet. I rinse the sponge from the clean side with hose to flush out the crud.
  8. Can't quite get my head around detailing. Bet they use bidets. And why use two buckets when that's double the trip hazard. Doesn't a rinse of your sponge from the hose work just as well....not compared to the bidet obviously...
  9. Well (is that an echo in here?) I think they look OK, although I'm not into the two-tone rim (on any car). They're not dissimilar to those from a 968 Club Sport (or Audi RS2 for that matter - 17”), and you can find them in yellow but probably not the other colours. I'm sure the purists will disagree with the look. What adapters and offsets did you use to get to 5 stud fitment?
  10. G. You must have seen the car knocking about CD! If only I'd known... Look out for me in the stealth yellow Felicia Fun which is now out of hibernation.
  11. Now sold. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks to others on this forum for their interest too.
  12. Thanks. The price /performance is what has made me hang on to it and each time I've thought about selling it before I've found an excuse to keep it - especially with some of the roads around here. BUT I'm getting that bit older and conscious of family commitments, and it becomes increasingly difficult to justify my "toy" when it's normally just got me in it! And you might have spotted my other antidote to my mid-life crisis. Time to leave my days of melting tyres (and steering wheels) behind...for now.
  13. As I've just MOT'd my Clio and its got almost 12 months' tax on it I thought it was time to put it up for sale. I've done less than 10,000 miles in it over the last 3 years and these cars just beg to be driven... This is the track-focused version of the "vanilla" 172, so lighter by 89kg and no-frills (also less to go wrong)! Renault's performance figures for those interested are 0-62 in 6.9 secs and top speed of 138 MPH. Driven carefully I've achieved 44 MPG on the motorway, although I consistently get 37-38 MPG under normal use. Most, like mine, are in Mondial Blue metallic, but a few were in silver. As you can see its in great condition with just one minor N/S dent where some clumsy school mum let her car door bang on it! You will struggle to see it, but I know its there... The car is as used regularly - just washed and not even chamoised let alone vacuumed. It gives an accurate idea of condition, but I'm happy to answer any specific questions or post further photos. The original wheels have a few kerbing marks in common with other examples. I've had the car since new and its got a full service history using fully synthetic oil and being run only on super unleaded. Recent documented work includes new callipers, discs and pads all-round plus 4 new Maxxis tyres last year. NO MODIFICATIONS except for KTR stealth (discrete) stainless cat-back exhaust. Both keys are included and the car can be viewed in SW Scotland or the Midlands by arrangement. Leave me a voicemail on 07567 234560 or email me phawmail-clio at yahoo.co.uk £2000 Also available are a set of black Team Dynamics 16" ProRace 1.2 or Team Dynamics 15" 100+ Tornado wheels both with tyres. These also fit my Felicia Fun which has the Tornados on just now.
