  1. Crap the oil level is low, what type of oil do I use for the 1.4m 8v?
  2. Hello all, The oil pressure light has just started to flash the odd time when I`m driving. It flashes and beeps then It goes away. It only appears the odd time. I have just organised selling the car so I dont want this to start beeping when the person comes to pick up the car. Any ideas? Its the 1.4 8v engine by the way.
  3. I fitted a nice sony mp3 headunit to my fabia about six months ago. It only took 5 mins to install and it hasnt given me any problems. The above radio surround makes it look nice and tidy. You will need a set of skoda keys to get the old headunit out, i asked my dealer for a set and he gave me a set for free.
  4. They look great but Im not willing to spend 60 euro to get them!
  5. Although I only have a lowly 1.4 I must admit I think the VRs is a nice looking car.Its not over the top nasty **** looking but it still looks like it can move.Plus its nice and big compared to other hot hatches, its about twice the size of my mates clio!
  6. It was the 140Bhp model i had a go on, my mate is thinking of getting the new 170bhp model and getting it chipped.Id admit that the interior is sweet with half leather/velour seats and the centre console is nice but as said above its very expensive!
  7. I had a go in my mates 2.0Tdi Audi A3 and I was very impressed. I was wondering after driving the A3 what the Vrs is like. I couldnt believe the amount of power available in the A3, once you get out of 1st and the wheels stop trying to remove themselves it really moves.I felt sad having to drive my 1.4mpi afterwards:)
  8. Lumpy idle is normal, use the search option and you will find a long thread about it. The coolant use is apparently normal, mine was using a good bit but then it stopped.
  9. My mates Honda Legend has 220K and has only had a new gearbox done to it.Good old Honda`s!
  10. LED lights have a faster response time reducing the time taken for the lights to activate thus giving the person behind you more of a chance to stop, studies have shown it can results in an extra 10 metres for braking. Most of the car makers offer them as an option on their exec models. They also have a much lower power consumption resulting in less load for the electrical system and hence better fuel economy (granted not a huge difference) and they also have a much longer life than regular bulbs.Oh and lastly they are brighter than standard bulbs! Oh and they look great on the car!
  11. If you put your drivers in seperately you can fit 3 bags in the boot!
  12. One of the guys here has an excellent website showing how to fit loads of things to the VRS.I have posted the link below to the cruise control fitting section. http://www.fabia-vrs.com/cruise.htm
  13. Does anybody have the graph for the 1.4 8v? It would be interesting to compare the two. I know my 1.4 has lovely flat spots at around 1800rpm but it pulls nicely from about 2200rpm.
  14. My mate had a 147 before he upgraded to a 1.9Tdi Audi A3.The cabin in the 147 is fantastic ,its like a mix between a limo and a fighters cockpit. All the controls and dials are angled towards the driver. Great place to sit and drive, however it did tend to fall apart slowly. However the newever generation Alfa`s are supposed to be better built, famous last words!
  15. It would have to be some hell of a crash to need a roll cage! Are you planning to jump over lots of cars stunt car style:)
  16. That looks pretty good to me mate!
  17. I had a something happen to me but only once, I was slowing down to enter a roundabout and I noticed a big power loss, a warning light came on but I applied more power. I just caught it before it stalled, my car was also cold. This only happened once so Im just taking it as a freak occurance.
  18. Thanks for the help lummox this worked perfectly!
  19. Excellent work thanks Lummox, ill see if I can get this to work! Ill keep you updated!
  20. Yea I think thats safe to assume that alright.Just one last question is their a service manual for the fabia? I am trying to fix one of my door handles and I dont feel like pay a fortune for a garage to do it!
  21. Is that your website Stu? Its a quality webpage good work if it is.Regarding the key it would make sense as the car would have to have some sort of reciever.
  22. I just saw one of these on ebay (check the link at the bottom of my post) does anybody know if this will work on my 2001 fabia classic. It has central locking but not remote central locking.I remember looking at the FAQ on that excellent Vrs (see other link) website and I think it might. Anybody got any thoughts? http://cgi.ebay.ie/SKODA-2-BUTTON-OCTAVIA-FABIA-REMOTE-KEY-FOB-COMPLETE_W0QQitemZ4643011896QQcategoryZ100919QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://www.fabia-vrs.com/key-code.htm
  23. What i would do is take the xbox apart, then you can decide what size and shape the new box is. I did the same thing with a PC, I took an old HP apart and made a nice small box out of perspex. Since the xbox has a smaller power supply, motherboard and integrated video and sound than a PC I dont see it being a problem fitting it. Plus if you feel adventurous you could move the joypad ports onto a seperate board which you could mount under the CD player where the empty tray is.
  24. I have central locking in the fabia classic but its not remote, whats the deal with installing the remote kit?
