  1. I downloaded it fine but I did notice that when I was low on fuel it directed me to a petrol station at a Somerfield store that closed in Jan 2007, just how reliable is the data?
  2. Bought a new 1.4 DSG Elegance in Feb, very pleased with it.
  3. I have bought from Bickerton once and Lamb, i think, 5 times. This time it was a totally different story, I wanted a test drive in a 1.4 DSG and tried every dealer within a 35 mile radius and got zero response from any of them. Finally I went out of area, phoned Horton in Lincoln, took a test drive and placed the order. Lambs called to say that the old car required its first MOT 2 weeks after it was due, I am still waiting to hear from any of the Keith's branches. I called in in at Bickerton about October last year and even after repeated emails to the salesman I am still waiting for a drive but when pressed we were offered a drive in a Mk 2 1.4 DSG. I even resorted in phoning Skoda for help and never had a call back. The nice new 1.4 DSG Elegance is very good and I am pleased that we bought it but I must confess we nearly gave up on Skoda.
  4. After all I said in February, I did get a call from Skoda on Friday to ask how we were getting on with the new car. For almost a year we were trying to get a test drive of a 1.4 DSG trying every dealer within 50 miles and no one showed any interest in helping us including Skoda. Finally after chasing up all the dealers again I found one to test drive in Lincoln, made an appointment took a test drive and placed an order for a new 1.4 DSG Elegance. Since taking delivery I have had 2 calls from dealers, one telling me the previous car was due for its first MOT (they could not even get that right they were 3 weeks late) and another to see if we were still interested in buying a new Skoda. I confess I gave the guy from Skoda a bit of an ear full about the lack of help from them and their dealer chain, we have been driving Octavias since 2000 changing them about every 3 years.
  5. Even after I called them to find out where I could get a test drive of a 1.4 DSG Octavia they never called back.
  6. My 5 year old Garmin always takes me to the number on the door and here am thinking of buying a new Skoda with built in GPS.
  7. When I saw on here that a new brochure was out I requested one from Skoda. It arrived today and I saw no difference from the last one I had seen, guess what it was dated 08/14, they must be trying to get rid of the old ones, off to dowmload one now.
  8. Thanks for that, could be the way to go but I would like to test drive an Elegance 1.4 DSG before I buy, so far none of the dealers have offered that, I did get a ride in a second-hand 2.0 TDI not quite the same. A test drive in any 1.4 DSG Octavia would help.
  9. Keep us updated on what the deals are please. So far I have discovered that dealers in this area don't want to sell me a new car, no one has replied to my enquiries. Never had this response before and I am now on my 6th new Octavia, may try another brand and see what their reaction is.
  10. Still not managed it, it was porridge rather than shredded wheat, I gave the car a good talking to and told it it would be sold off because of two bulbs going in 2 days and the DDL is back on now and the dashboard warning light off! Suspect it will not last.
  11. Thanks, that's just what I tried, will try 3 Shreded Wheat for breakfast and have another go.
  12. Apologies if this has been covered already but searching the forum did not bring anything up. I have a 2012 Elegance and one of the Daylight Driving Bulbs seems to have blown, reading the owner’s manual it tells me to remove the side of the grill by pulling at the top. Done that as hard as I could but to no avail, I even took the car to Halfrauds and asked the “expert” to replace the bulb. He told me it would not be a problem and when he attempted to remove the light unit from under the car I asked him if he had done this before. He was non committal so I took out the owner’s manual and showed him what to do; he failed to pull it out too but then proceeded to use a lever to try to prise it out. When that did not work I checked for damage, thanked him and left. Where are we going wrong?
  13. That will be Bickertons of Sheffield who are the same group as Rainworth. I live in Sheffield but buy my Skodas in Chesterfield because, up to now, I have found the people at Lambs give better sales and after sales service. I recognise that companies change so I am always looking at other options.
  14. Of cause you will inform your insurance company, I suspect that not only SUK would run away from any claim but so would your insurance company.
  15. Ford sold Jaguar to Tata Motors in 2008
