Hi, We have a 02 fabia 1.4mpi which has developed a problem with the gauges. The temp gauge is now always near the coldest end of the dial, whilst the fuel gauge rarely drops from being full. When it does drop it is only for a few moments even if the tank is near empty. I have wiggled wires etc to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance. Dave

No a/c. My 7/8" spanner fitted snuggly enough & didn't round off the corners of the bolt.

I am in the process of changing the idler on our fabia 1 1.4 mpi. The idler came off ok. 22mm or /7/8" off set spanner no problems. I did not like the oem or after market price. So I removed the bearing from the carrier (socket & hammer did the trick). Measured it 40 od x 17 id x 12 mm thick. I ordered one from solent bearings. Southampton for about a £5.00. Bargin!

Hi all, firstly I'm new to these forums, so please excuse me if I get things muddled. I have a 2002 fabia 1.4MPI that was loosing water and the oil filler cap had the light brown gunge associated with what I thought was a blown head gasket. Having spoken to a local head skimming company, he suggested I have the head skimmed as one of his biggest customers were the local skoda dealership. Head skimmed and replaced with new gaskets etc. Some 2 months down the road The car is still loosing water and there is again water in the oil. Also the EML light came on intermittently then permanently. I naturally thought that I had messed up on the reassembly. I removed the head yesterday and I have attached a few photos of the gasket. Any help with diagnosis/remedies would be appreciated. One mechanic I know said it could be the liners have moved or a cracked block/head. (at no point has the car overheated). I live on the Isle of Wight and there isn't anyone that can pressure test the head. Would I be better off getting a low mileage second hand engine?? MackyD

We have an 02 Fabia estate and the Off Side Rear door will not unlock. I have read previous posts and found them to be helpful..However, I have removed the window carrier but I cannot see any way to manually over ride the locking mechanism of the car or over ride the central locking system. Any help would be appreciated. MackyD
