  1. Hi , Can anyone with a 1.6TDI advise what their engine oil consumption is please. My car currently has 46k on it, its using approx 12 litres between services which I feel is excessive not to mention inconvenient. My Skoda dealer is quoting up to 1 litre every 1k is acceptable. ( that could be be 50 litres of oil pa for me, 2x 5 gallon drums its hard to comprehend) Interested to know if others are experiencing the same especially if doing high motorway miles. ta very much.
  2. I often tow a trailer and the wheel spin is really bad, my previous 2ltr superbs never suffered from this, feels like little weight on the front end of the 1.6. I love the car all the same but worry what its gonna be like in snow.
  3. I took a drop in spec from my previous skoda's to get the DSG (1.6) so glad I did as it surpasses any other option I would like on a company car, just a bit nervous that I ever have to return to a manual box.
  4. Took delivery 20th April 16, now done 29000, on original tyres 4mm on fronts, love the DSG but a little prone to wheel spin in the wet from a standstill, pleased I opted for rear wiper on the hatch.
  5. I have had 2 S2 superbs with the 2.0 engines, now have the S3 1.6tdi DSG, the 1.6TDI as you say is a lttle less refined at idle but with DSG it pulls away very swiftly & smoothly, the difference with the smaller engine for me is only felt when you want to accelerate at high speeds, other than this very happy with the motor. I only went for the 1.6tdi over a 2.0 so I could get DSG and very happy I did, personally if your opting for manual transmission I would go for the 2.0 passat.
  6. Thanks for the info, I fitted the same towbar also from PF jones, I considered the dedicated wiring but opted for a generic by-pass relay, obviously I dont have the benefit of the parking sensor isolation but I'm more than happy with my £200 spend, I did the same with my 2 previous superb II's.
  7. Tried & tested on 3 high mileage white cars for me is: Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze, followed by Jetseal 109, followed by collinite 915 wax. After the above you only need to top the wax up every 6 months.
  8. have it, company car so no brainer for me as was free, done 1500 miles and have used it 2 or 3 times def no regrets.
  9. Doesn't really answer your question but I went for the non GL 1.6TDI so I could get DSG, I am over the moon with it for a mile muncher, you get far more out of the ACC if combined with DSG box, I'm getting about 52 mpg according to the readout.
  10. The lease company my employer use offer free metallic paint on all manufactures except vw,seat, skoda, audi. its a mistake imo as VAG lose loads of orders as the majority of people go with a manufacturer that offers free metallic. you can obviously spec metallic on a vag car but it puts £10 to £15 a month on the lease which can be the difference between a model grade.
  11. Ordered 5th Feb delivered to door via lease company 22nd April, skoda quoted late april at time of order so bang on really. I'm convinced lease companies can get orders through quicker than private buyers.
  12. Nice white combi, SEL I think parked @ Sainsburys distribution Basingstoke, drove round a second time to take a second look.
  13. The passatt & s3 were coming in at pretty much the same price for SE Bus spec on my company lease scheme, I went for the s3 in the end but the passatt has really grown on me they look great on the road, limited boot access and the analogue dash clock killed it for me and the estate was out on price for my grade. Also the SE bus spec was not as good as the s3, manual AC etc. very nice looking car though imo.
  14. Just wondering what car your waiting for as saw a spanking white S3 hatch on transporter pulling off westlink in belfast yesterday.
