  1. What mileage are we talking about cornishpastyfarian, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places? I take it you bought privately?
  2. Compared to some of the other cars out there it comes in as one of the cheapest with that mileage and folding rear seats. I've not bought a car for a bout 4 years and from what I can see they've all gone up in price somewhat. I've seen yours and it's a beauty but part ex is the way I need to go unfortunately, not enough cash at the moment. :(
  3. It's an 05 model and it's up for 3.2k, generally as it's been around for a while i'd imagine. There seems to be a full history every 10k or so and the dealer seems quite open about it all and what they have done to it. I suppose best thing would be seeing it in the flesh. I've asked them to send me some pics of the seats so I can make a call. Maybe that last owners were a little more substantial??
  4. Hello all, After some time away with a Seat Altea I have decided to come back to Skoda as I previously had a 2.0tdi Elegance. I've been looking for a 1.9tdi AWX either an A6 Avant or Superb and for certain reasons I think I've finally settled for another Superb. Anyway, I'm planning on viewing a Superb on Saturday but just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts words of wisdom etc. It's a Comfort with 78k miles, very recently had a cambelt and water pump, new clutch and flywheel. The price really suits and they are willing to give a good price on a part ex. However, the dealer has had the car for some time and not shifted it and he has also mentioned that the seats have some wear which has put the Mrs off a little (as she will be driving it mostly). I will obviously check for water ingress etc. but I do think it suits the bill. It is a fair few miles from us so I don't want to have a wasted journey therefore, should I steer clear due to the clutch change and seats or can this be a common occurrence with the 1.9 Comfort? Thanks
  5. Will be sold with a new MOT. I'm open to offers around the £5000 mark.
  6. Thanks for the advice, to be frank, time is the issue. I'll be willing to carry out the MOT but would like to gauge interest first.
  7. I'm based in Bromley, South London, I'll edit the ad! I think I also forgot to say it's a 56 plate. Thanks.
  8. On my runs into Europe I've been getting approx 600 miles on a tank thats around 50mpg but I'm sure you can be more carful with it. Around town it's more like 30-35mpg depending on how you drive it, traffic etc. Thanks, Greg!
  9. I have a Superb 2.0 TDi 140bhp Elegance in metallic cappuccino. It has 60k on the clock and a full service history from local dealership and independent VAG specialist, 56 plate. I am the third owner, however the first the dealership as it was demo model. I have covered just under 40k in the past two and a half years and it has treated me and my family very well, many trips into Europe without a single problem. It's now come to a stage where we need to economise and have to say goodbye to the beast. We have acquired another car meaning that we are unable to run the two and have no choice but to keep the other one. The car currently has an MOT which expires in December but will not have any trouble in getting through. It's currently requiring a service and a cam belt change but I am reluctant to carry this out as we are not using the car and need to fund the other vehicle. As a result I am willing to take a bit of a hit on the price in order to sell it. It has all the usual Elegance spec: Electric/heated leather seats front and back Sat Nav with 06 disc 6 disc CD changer 17” Alloys Climate control Multi function steering wheel Cruise control Parking sensors Ski bag Front arm rest Bi Xenons Heated/illuminated door mirrors Etc.. The only thing missing is the umbrella as the wife left it in a supermarket in Poland!! I am looking for offers over £5000 and a good home for my trusty steed. I shall try and get some more photos up over the weekend, I'm based in Bromley, South London.
  10. No nothing on the status. Drove it around today and no probs, all lights stayed off. May just have been an electrical glitch.
  11. Just come back from a 2500 mile trip across Europe, as usual the car was wonderful and drove faultlessly. Since returning on Sunday I have been using it daily, however, the wife was driving the car this evening and phoned me to tell me that she had a number of lights appear on the dash. When she got home I too saw the lights, ABS EPS & BRAKE SYSTEM lights. She also said that there was a number of beeps while she was driving. I checked the manual and it seems that it could be the brake system or brake fluid. Oh, the refuel light also appeared randomly when we have over 1/4 of a tank left. I checked the brake fluid immediately , all fine, the took the car around the block and no lights appeared at all, breaks and brake pedal worked well without any difference from when I drove it earlier in the day, no fee play etc. Does anyone have any ideas?
  12. When I first bought my Superb I noticed that the insides of the rear tyres were worn. From a distance I then noticed that they were not straight and facing in from the bottom. Eventually, I had the rear axel replaced and two new tyres put on through the warranty. looks like someone tried to jack the car up by the axel and bent it. Possibly could be something to do with a bent axel mrh!
  13. Try checking the headlights, I have the same problem and it transpired that the xenons were not self leveling, wiring problem.
  14. What is this £2.50 part and what needs to be done? I may be replacing the cam belt and water pump soon, is it something that can be done at the same time? Will this repair last or will it have to be repaired again after some time?
  15. Just bought some all round rear sunblinds from these guys for my Superb Mk1. http://www.uvcarshades.co.uk They look great and hopefully will keep the sun away from our 6 month old. Might be worth giving them a call and see if they've started producing them for the Mk2.
  16. Forgot to mention, I cover around 25k a year.
  17. The thing that I'm bother about is that my motor is the 2.0 140bhp with DPF, it's played up twice in the past year and had the DPF sensor replaced and all this has been sorted under warranty and Skoda assist. The thing that worries me is if it becomes blocked to the point that Skoda assist can't deal with it and it needs to go back to a dealer, the work will be covered under warranty then. Or is there a simpler and cheaper solution to this?
  18. I'm looking at extending my warranty very soon. I have quotes from Warranty Direct, and three skoda dealerships. Warranty direct is the most expensive for a 1 year quote, however, the skoda dealerships vary quite a lot. I have been told that the reason for this is that some may not be Skoda Uk warranties and use AA warranty services amongst others, some may have excess etc etc.... I'm getting some small print sent out to me to see what is covered but does it really matter if it's not Skoda uk covering you? Any suggestions?
  19. Have you tried keeping the button on the end of the indicator stalk (not the reset button on the bottom) pressed in until a menu appears. There is then an option of turning the display on and off.
  20. I thought I could get away with doing a diy job, it was just a matter of knowing what was needed at 40k. Any ideas regarding a manual? Should i use a passat and does that cover the 20 tdi that i have?
  21. I am due for my 40k service soon, I rang for a quote from my local dealer where the car was purchased, they quoted me around £420 including break fluid change. Could anyone tell me if this is a realistic price for a main dealer or are they overpriced. I am currently waiting for an independent quote, however, this is some way away from me as I am unable to find anyone in my area. Also, is there anywhere that lists the work that is undertaken at specific service intervals as I'm sure there are some if not all jobs I could carry out myself!
  22. Well I have a BSS and have experienced a few DPF problems, but nothing since the DPF sensor was changed last November. There is another thread on the site that states BSS is 8v but it seems that not even Skoda know! I always thought that the 2.0tdi was a bit of a bodge job of the 8v and 16v. Is there any definitive info regarding this anywhere?
  23. After reading some previous threads, was under the impression that a 140 superb could not be remapped due to the dpf.
  24. 56 plate 140TDi elegance. Purchased it in March 09 with 21k on the clock. Currently covered approx 17k in the past 9 months and to be honest I am very happy with it. It has managed to get me to and from Spain for the summer holiday some 3.5k miles, Poland and back 2.5k miles and a hell of a lot of A road and town driving taking the Mrs and me to work. However, so far there have been one or two problems where it has had to go back to the dealer and had assistance out. Replacement rear axel, looked like someone (or the dealer themselves) had tried to jack it up and bent it causing tyre wear and a shake at over 70 mph, they replaced the axel and tyres through the warranty. Initially they would not do anything about it as they would not take the car over 70 mph to test for vibration as it was not legal, it was not until I pointed out the tyre wear and this highlighted that the wheels were not running straight. DPF problem within a few weeks of purchasing, but i put this down to the fact it had been driven very little at the dealers and the previous owner being 75 and not really giving it a decent run. Quick call to Skoda Assistance who were great and VW tech came along and unblocked the filter. After giving the car a good run to Spain and back in May I had an oil change as I felt it had coped with a lot in a short space of time, no problems until about November and 14k of driving, when the dreaded DPF light came on again and I had to limp it home. Once again call to Assistance and this was unblocked. Subsequently, I took the car back to the dealer as it was regenerating regularly and I could not understand why it would block if it regenerated, they stated it needed a DPF sensor as it was not registering the regeneration process. This was replaced under warranty and 2k on all is still well. I do admit that I am glancing at the dash more often for the DPF lights, but the few problems I have had have not put me off, It's a great motor and can't wait to get a good 130mph out of it on the autobahns again!
  25. I would like to find a VAG specialist in the North Kent/Bromley/Croydon area, in order to lower the cost of the maintinance, if needed. Any suggesteions?
