  1. I took the car to my local dealer yesterday and with one of the Mechanics took the car for an extended drive. Since I booked it in the car seems to drive much better, although still with a slight 'judder' when the accelerator is lifted after driving at speed (50 – 60 mph), but on the test drive it drove very well without any obvious problem. The Mechanic discounted most reasons for any problems but surmised it might be the DPF regeneration that is occasionally causing it to 'judder' slightly after going at a regular speed and then de-accelerating. Do you think he might be right? He said the car drives just as well as any other Fabia he'd driven and if the problem does get any worse to get back to them. I wondered, and as you realise I'm no great shakes as a car expert, that possibly the Diesel we had filled up with recently had been less than perfect and may have accentuated the problem. As I said the car seems to be ok at the moment and I don't think it's going to break down any time soon so I'll see how it goes and let you know if anything goes wrong in the future. Again thanks.
  2. Estate Man - thank you for your helpful reply. I've booked it in to my Local Skoda Dealer for next week and will let you know the outcome, Again thanks.
  3. I have a slight misfire on my Fabia SE TDI (90) – there's been an obvious misfire for the last couple of days when, driving at any speed, the accelerator pedal is lifted and the car starts to slow down. The car is about 15 months old with 14,000 miles on the clock and from new has driven very well with no other problems. Any ideas of what it could be and is the Dealer the obvious, and expensive, place to take it or could it be diagnosed at any decent garage?
  4. My 2011 Fabia Estate needed the handbrake adjusting at the first 10,000 mile service and my Skoda dealer offered to adjust it for a mere £30 - I said no not at that price. I want to adjust the handbrake myself but will I find the info to do it in the Fabia 2000-2006 Haynes manual or will there be a different way of doing it for the newer model? I'd like to buy a Haynes Manual, I usually have for other cars I've had, mainly for basic jobs rather than 'big' jobs but don't want to waste money buying a book that can't even help me for the minor jobs. Any help appreciated.
  5. hollingwood - thanks for the advice - job sorted.
  6. We bought a new Fabia Estate late last year and have had no problems with it at all. The Cricket season is upon us and we wanted to listen to Test Match special on Radio 4 Long wave. The radio supplied 'Radio Swing' only has FM and AM - do I have to buy a different radio to get Long Wave and, if so, do Skoda supply one that would fit my car? Or do I have to look elsewhere for a LW radio? Any help appreciated.
  7. Brand new - and raring to go at Le Touquet airport. [/img]
  8. When they ring just tell them the person they want isn't in the room and you'll go and fetch them. Stick the phone near to the tele/radio and leave it there for as long as you like - bet they don't ring too often after that.
  9. Is this the one? http://s1145.photobucket.com/albums/o514/glynnnn1/?action=view&current=GiveWay1.jpg
  10. DPD dropped a card through the letterbox on Thursday the 5th. 'Sorry we missed you' and , according to the card, will automatically attempt a second delivery on the next working day - Friday 6th. The following day, despite us being in all day, they failed to deliver. I went to their website and asked for the parcel to be delivered on the following Monday 9th - and if no-one in to leave it at the rear of the house. I went outside the back door on Saturday 7th afternoon and there was a DPD delivered parcel - no knock on the front door despite our car on the drive and us being in all day and helpfully the Delivery person had kindly left the gate open as an invitation for our dog to abscond onto the busy main road. Well done DPD - 'Dumb Parcel Deliverers' :ninja: :ninja:
  11. Anyone for an Ice Cream? http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o514/glynnnn1/Holly-Willoughby.jpg
  12. You have a heart attack - someone bashes your chest and revives you - and the first thing you hear - are the Bee Gees singing. It's enough to give you another heart attack!
  13. How many overnight stops are you making - and where?
  14. Just quoting what the car says at the moment - I'm checking mileage and fuel used but I've not got enough on the clock yet to work out the 'real' mpg. I topped up before we came back from France (cheaper fuel!) and now I'm back to the real world of local motoring I'll be able to give a more accurate idea of consumption in the next few weeks. But even if the digital read out isn't totally accurate at least it looks pretty good - don't you think?
  15. From home to Eurotunnel last week, 222 miles, and achieved 63 mpg. Rarely dropped below 70, and quite often above, except for two comfort stops and sections of 50 mph roadworks on the M1 and M25. From France today in high winds, rain, one hour and 50 minutes delay at Dartford Crossing, 90 litres of wine extra, bottles of Brandy and some cheese all slowing us down and we averaged 54.4 mpg. Drives well, very stable in high winds, packs a load of stuff onboard and I'm very pleased with the car.
