  1. It is easy to do on a Mac. You just need to make sure your memory card is formatted to ExFat type before putting the latest maps on. Apple will also try and add some hidden files which can cause the road names not to show if you eject the sd card using the Mac o/s. To stop this once the new maps are on your memory card just remove the card from the Mac. There are are other topics on this issue too.
  2. Apart from getting sound, the unit seemed a lot more stable. I upgraded the climatronic panel so it displays all the climate info. I did not update the parking sensor controller do that only beeps which is more than enough. The sat nav, cd changer, aux in all worked. I've got the fm and tmc signal on the Columbus. I'm waiting for a splitter cable from eBay from Poland. I ordered it 3 weeks ago and though it was posted I've not had it..... Devonutopia also tinkered with a few bits on the car. I've got the anti-hijack and the noisier locking system now.
  3. I've got a stream mp3 going now I've got my Columbus. Has code too.
  4. Have mine in working happily with the Columbus now. I would disconnect the -ve terminal of the batter just to be on the safe side. It only takes 30secs to disconnect.
  5. Big thanks to Devonutopia for the use of his vcds. All is working now. It was the fact the Columbus needed coding and the speaker options needed tweaking. Thanks Nick P and KBPhoto for the coding info.
  6. Cheers for the info guys, hopefully going to be meeting up with someone to do some coding over the next few days.... hopefully...
  7. Cool, thanks for the replies, Nick a few questions.... I've found the Ross-Tech RNS-510 retrofit page, where it shows about enabling address 56 for the radio and 37 for the navigation control module. Would the changing of the speaker system be found in address 56 for the radio? Is it a check box to tick/untick? I guess having the original Stream MP3 HU in and getting a dump of the codes so I could see what options have been ticked and then apply that to the Columbus when retro-fitted. Also do you have a link for replacing the Audio board on a Columbus? Sorry for the many questions! Cheers Gareth
  8. Hi, I've just retrofitted a Columbus (3T0... version) into my 2008 58 Plate Scout. No Battery Drain issues, the SAT NAV works, the retrofitted Climatronic display works, the unit can see various radio stations, the CD changer and the fact that something is connected to the AUX In. However there is no sound at all..... It's hardware version H42 and SW 2724 I have put the old Stream MP3 unit back in and get sound - no problem. I have the original 8 speakers in the Scout (2 in each of the front passenger/driver doors, 1 in each of the two rear doors and 2 across the front of the car. I do not have a Maxidot instrument Cluster and thought it was just a plug and play - does the unit require coding? Any help/ideas appreciated. Cheers Gareth
  9. Well having been driving around for a day now after the mod I can say that yes the temp range is narrower (18-28), plus LO and HI. If you have the AC on then it is very cold, just cool with the AC OFF, and if you turn the whole unit to OFF it just blows in the ambient temperature from outside. At least that is my experience after having done the self-check/reset procedures as stated on the scirocconet link posted earlier in the topic. Hope that helps
  10. Please ignore my question on my last post. Was having a very blonde, senior moment.
  11. I've managed to retrofit this unit into my scout. I've reset the unit and it seems to be working. I have done the wiring mod. Just a dumb question what happens if the two smaller connectors are put into the wrong socket? I.e. B into C and vice versa?
  12. Keeping my scout, but...... Audi S8 - with the Lamborghini gallardo engine. Ford Mustang GT 390......
  13. Looking at doing this mod myself but have a question regarding the cutting of the wire to pin 20 and reconnecting it to pin 16. Was the reconnection done using a soldering kit or was it a crimp style reconnection? Any help appreciated.
  14. Hi, Just asking a really dumb question with regards to the Amundsen HUs and the VW equivalents the Rns310/rns315....... Can these units plug and play (in theory) into a 58 plate Scout? Obviously need a different facia panel. I ask as I'm just weighing up all the options out there to update my original HU. Cheers
  15. Hi, I've been researching on what to upgrade my Stream mp3 HU, to something a tad more exciting...... Through lots of trawling of the forum and on Google I have come across the Zenec NC-2010, and the Columbus/RNS-510 as my two potential choices. I have also acquired a Maxi-dot Instrumentation Cluster, which I will be looking to fit into my 58 plate Scout in June/July - post Wedding and when Ben @ Shark Performance is able to fit it in and he is back fully fighting fit. On my Scout I have the trip indicator stalk that is on the higher spec Ocatavia II models, so I can display the MPG/Trip computer but also have the Parking Sensors display on the Stream. I think this means I do not need the CANBUS to be upgraded for the Maxi-dot install. Which leads me to the question about the Zenec 2010..... If I get the Zenec will I have to upgrade the CANBUS even though its a 58-plate Octavia as it is a pre face lift model? Or will the current setup be adequate to still show parking sensor information and the Maxi-dot info when it is installed? I'll be looking to get the upgrade to the HU before I visit Shark Performance so that if there are any issues they can potentially be sorted out there...... Any info/help greatly appreciated as always. Gareth BTW Is Ben back at Shark Performance yet working his magic? If anyone knows that would be great as I will try to get booked in asap.
  16. Cool, thanks for the reply Ben. Hope your recovery goes well and hopefully look forward to you sorting it out in June time. :-)
  17. Yeah they are diesel clocks. It's always worth having a trawl on eBay you never know what turns up on there. Plus there are always people on here to double check you've got the right one! I think I'll be biding my time until June.......
  18. Hi vRS_Pagey, I got a used unit off of eBay. It was actually a unit from a member on here. They had attempted to get Shark to fit it but his car would not communicate with the unit properly as he did not have a full spec skoda - ie the right type of stalks. Wardy, I have emailed Shark Performance but unfortunately until Ben is back fighting fit they can't help. So will have to wait unless anyone knows anything differently.
  19. Hi guys, I've been researching who can retrofit a used maxidot unit. I know that Shark Performance can retrofit a used unit, but the person who can do this is off on long term sickness at present. I know that Skoda dealers can fit new maxidot units, but do not fit used units. Apart from shark performance does anyone know of anyone else who has successfully retrofitted and a coded a used maxidot unit? Cheers
  20. I've just taken off the winter tyres and steelies, for the summer tyres and alloys. I will be needing to replace all four summer tyres in the near future as the tread is nearing the minimum legal amount. The tyres size are 225/50/17. As these are an odd size, does anyone have any recommendations for different tyre sizes that would fit the original skoda scout alloys? I've had a search through the forum for alternative tyre sizes and not really found any clear answer...... Cheers in advance.
  21. I've got a britax evolva 1-2-3 + car seat. Goes from 9 months up to 11/12yrs. There are a number of different colours/styles. Varying prices on t'internet.
  22. Thanks for all the info so far. I'll try the local dealer stealers down here and see what they say......
