  1. BOY OH BOY! Let's hold a P155ing contest and be done with it. Back to the issue of FUEL, it is true that at the end of the day it is your car so run it on what you want. But let's assume that you sell your car in the next 3 years would any of you admit to running your car on 95RON fuel if asked by the new buyer? if the answer is YES you are indeed an honorable person and i for one would not buy it (but i bet a few if not all would say of course it has only ever had 98 fuel). If however i saw an advert for a used vRS and it said only ever run on 98 or VPower fuel, then this is the car that i would consider buying over yours.
  2. Monk you obviously did not concentrate at school :'( a couple is 2 might even stretch to a 3 (Ménage à trois) but that fiesta you refer too is 5.8sec behind the vRS which is HUGE in race time. That's like comparing Jeremy Clarkson (fiesta) to Linford Christie (vRS) in the 100m mens final. Finally lets compare it to some other so called Nippy cars that are a second either side of the vRS: 2007 BMW M3 01:35.00 2005 Mercedes SL55 (540BHP) modified 01:35.00 2002 Porsche Boxster 3.2S 01:35.60 2007 BMW Z4 3.0 01:35.80 2011 Skoda Fabia vRS 1.4 01:36.10 2005 BMW M3 01:36.40 2000 Renault Clio Cup 172 01:36.50 2007 Porsche Cayman 3.4S modified 01.37.10 VW Golf R32 01:37.10 2008 Ford Fiesta 1.6D 01:41.90 Here endeth the lesson, so stop calling it Nippy, it's Quick.
  3. Here is some nice proof regarding if the vRS is a quick car or not, check out the leaderboard of howfast.co.uk and scroll through the pages to the time 01:36.10 (it is a 1.4TSi vRS) now look what came below it and they all done it on a dry track, so it is a quick car.
  4. Like someone posted earlier regarding nippy, nippy is the fabia 1.2 TSi 105bhp (which i just sold), quick is the vRS that is why it is classed as a Hot Hatch, fast is something sub 7 secs, very fast is something around 5 secs or less like the subaru GB270 i also just sold at 5.2 secs and 310 lbs/ft torque, which is more torque than an M3. So enjoy!
  5. I had the exact same problem with my 2011(61) Monte Carlo, obviously you could not hear or see the fault whilst driving due to the noise and car movement, but when stationary you could hear and see the motor buzz, buzz, buzz, making slight adjustments to the headlight aim as if i was playing with the adjuster and it only ever happened when on zero, in the end i took it just off zero and it was OK (I was waiting until i had to go to the dealers to report this fault) but then i traded the Monte Carlo for a vRS and this car is fine, i would get the dealer to change the whole light adjuster unit (the part where you adjust the headlight aim) as i reckon it is that unit.
  6. Well that video say's it all, if you have a car geared for economy then run it on anything, but if you have a car which is performance based then it will appreciate and perform at it's best with a better grade of fuel. As was mentioned in the video above, cars sold in the UK must be able to run on standard 95RON fuel and they can, but to get the claimed performance figures use the good stuff. Finally if at the end of the day you choose to run your car on 95, 97, 98 or 99RON fuel it remains your choice, but i prefer to run mine on what the engineers, tuners and developers intended it to run on 98RON. I can only compare it to Carlsberg and Carlsberg export, they will both get you ****ed but i have to drink more of the regular Carlsberg to achieve the same level of drunkeness as the export and i have less of a hangover on the export too, but some lesser humans will be unable to tell the difference, but my body was designed to have the good stuff from day one, though it can adapt itself to the regular stuff if needed. hehehehe :p
  7. I put 98+ RON fuel in my vRS as it is what the info panel inside the fuel cover asks for. I use VPower and have on all my quick cars as it is proven to be a better grade of fuel. Jonny Boy, i would definitely use 98+ as you have had the REVO remap mate.
  8. I would have thought that lowering would be a big mistake too, but i am glad to hear that it has increased ride comfort as this is one area the vRS needs to be looked at and i am sure it handles a bit better too when pushed. And just to say before someone posts (you cannot have ride comfort and sporty handling together) yes you can my subaru GB270 had a firm but very forgiving ride, unlike the vRS which is firm and uncomfortable. You are an expert in some sense that you have had 3 lots of suspension upgrades on other cars, so you know more than someone who has never had there suspension modded and i might get my vRS fitted with the H&R springs from awesome as i believe you paid around £330 including fitting and 4 wheel alignment, not a bad price at all. Cheers matey.
  9. I too do not drive a car with economy in mind, as i would have not chosen a vRS if economy was high on my list. But what i would say is for a hot hatch the fuel economy is not too bad, my subaru GB270 never knew the meaning of fuel economy even driving it as gentle as one could, prior to that i had a nissan 350Z, so compared to the previous 2 cars the vRS is like a Prius in comparison, lol.
  10. Interesting, looking forward to hearing it, when you get chance to upload a video. Where did you get it from? I am sure your engine is breathing better, has your MPG increased or have you not noticed any difference?
  11. I see (no pun intended) for the european market. Cheers
  12. Hi JB, i have read your post and congratulations on having the balls to get upgrades fitted on a new car, as i know a lot of people avoid modding like the plague due to fears of reliabilty, insurance prices and warranty's being voided. I fancy them H&R springs not for the lowering but because you comment on the ride factor being vastly improved, can you sum up the transformation? Nice 1 mate!
  13. Brilliant, i for one did not realise there were 2 different headlight combinations for the new vRS, makes sense now as i thought to myself "am i missing something here" i better buy some more bulbs then as i only ordered 1 set and once fitted i am going to visit an MOT station and get them to adjust my lights to the maximum permissible level. And an unused side light bulb? where's the sense in that, lol. Cheers
  14. I bought my 2010 1.4TSi vRS last week and i am wondering who has done what to there 1.4TSi vRS and what have they noticed since doing so? I think the power and delivery is adequate for day to day driving and the odd back lane thrash, if i wanted to do a few track days i then might get a REVO stage 1 remap but i am not sure it would be beneficial for just day to day driving. Suspension upgrades are useful for all types of driving, so what have you got and how does it compare to stock? Air filters these too can be a cheap beneficial upgrade from standard, sometimes improving fuel consumption and drivability as the engine can breathe more easily, i have been looking at the REVO Performance filter, who has fitted one and what gains have you noticed if any? Exhaust systems these can give increased power gains as well as unleashing some beautiful noise (not the 4" type you see on a kids 1.0L nova) i have found some for the polo 1.4TSi but not for the Fabia 1.4TSi vRS, has any one fitted an aftermarket exhaust system yet? and if so which one? and what have you noticed? Does fitting an aftermarket exhaust then require a remap and if so it would it have to be a custom remap rather than a generic, to take the exhaust into account. As i understand it, the more air you can get in the better as long as you then can get the exhaust gases out quicker with less obstructions. I am in the process of fitting replacement Osram nightbreaker plus H7 bulbs as my first mod... Is there anything else you think needs upgrading? Apart from the WIFE! I changed to a Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear antiroll bar on my Impreza GB270 and it was money well spent as it conrnered as if it was on rails, not to sure if there is a antiroll bar upgrade on the 1.4TSi vRS? Tell us of your upgrades, good or bad.....
