  1. Yup! "I suspect the knocking is from the top shock mount..." it was with my 2007 2.0 PD VRS, been driving me nuts over the year getting seriously worse over last few weeks, prompted me to take to garage, enough is enough! Thought they might just tighten bolts up on shocker, unfortunately it exploded at same time covering mechanic in oil! Had both shockers replaced...bliss, no more knocking and banging about now :-)
  2. Just been down to my local garage who say they've never heard of a PCV or CCV! That's a little worrying!! Maybe I should replace it myself.
  3. So back to the main point of this thread, it appears the problem is a result of a clogged or faulty ccv, anyone got a price for a replacement? I'll get the garage to fit it when it's in for service next week. Is there anything else of that nature it could be whilst it's got it's bonnet up that the garage could replace at the same time? Apart from this problem it's otherwise a cracking car.
  4. But I always keep the engine revs up to the 2000 mark as much as possible to ensure the light doesn't come on, I thought that would keep the DPF clean?
  5. I have a PD170 but guess the ccv is the same. Thanks.
  6. Thanks chaps, what about running a cleaner through it like BG 244 will that help?
  7. Can't figure it out why sometimes car runs smooth and other days runs like a donky! Bucking about under acceleration or if take foot off accelerator for a second to allow natural slow down then put power on again it jumps about all over the place. At idle say at the lights for instance I can see the rev counter moving up and down by about +/- 5mm and feel the car shuddering ever so slightly like the engine mix is not right somehow. Anyone else had this problem? Maybe I should take it to a tuner? But I still get up to 51mpg out of car, especially since keeping tyres inflated to recommended pressure. It's just the running of the engine seems very erratic every day.
  8. Ugh! I thought you might say that. Probably more trouble than it's worth. I'll not be taking my car to that dealership ever again. :(
  9. Well I rest my case then! As Tech1e and I have probably come to the conclusion it's about whether the mechanic is adjusting the injectors properly that seems to affect whether problems occur or not. The question is now, do we that have got the problems get the dealership to check the adjustment again or just leave it and accept things the way they are? Or do we get a non-Skoda dealer to look at the adjustment? Don't suppose you'd check em would you Tech1e?
  10. Latest news: new injectors have done total of 185 miles now. Driving back from work on motorway averaged 44.3mpg but took it steady, no heavy pedal stuff, just calm driving up to 70'ish - I can live with that. So maybe 35mpg is normal around town? I'll keep monitoring it.
  11. Back at work and first time on motorway since passing the controversial 150 miles and either forgotten how fast pick up speed is from 50 to 70mph in 4th or might be result of new injectors, either way to say car was quick would be an understatement! mpg over Christmas has been based on local runs (35'ish), from today I'll assess mpg on motorway to see if any better before I query it with Skoda dealer again.
  12. I'm taking mine to a non-Skoda dealership tomorrow for them to inspect some other things Skoda Preston identified as needing doing. I know I can trust this garage, had other work done there before and gonna ask them to check the injector adjustment as I've lost faith with Skoda dealer in Preston. Can Skoda recall work only be done by a main Skoda dealer or by any garage?
  13. Thanks Tech1e and I guess that affects the mpg and the starting problems also mentioned on this thread?
