  1. i have a skoda fabia vrs tdi 130 54 plate 60 k on the clock have had some serious work done on it in the past head gasket including skimm and repair cambelt water pump. im a little concerned about the economy struggling to get 50 mpg on a run down the motorway i believe i have a worn engine mounting on the rear and was thinking that if it was changed would it make the engine run smoother and more economical i have noticed i freind of mine has the same car a little more miles 73ish his car on start up it seems smoother and the intial pull away seems smoother too not sure weather by changing the engine mount on my car will make any difference to economy or smoothness i maybe wrong but i have noticed that there is a little more than normal movement in the engine back and forth not side to side i believe to change this rear mount isnt a too bad job any one reading this with any help would be great one skoda furby to another
  2. hopefully shall make it see how im fixed would like to make it as its my first meet
  3. i have a skoda fabia vrs tdi 54 plate 60k on the clock had a water problem water was being forced out of the header tank after a water pump cambelt thermostate and expansion tank cap replaced all it seemed to do is slow it down but not cure it it was going from loosing a pint of water a week to next to nothing it was suggested that i had a blown head gasket but it never over heated and there was good heat from the heater late last year did a oil and filter change but it seems that i may have put the wrong oil in i had used 5/40 fully synth but not sure it was proper pd oil i noticed that bout a month ago there was a rising oil level it seems that there was diesel mixing in with the oil so did a oil change recently to eliminate a faulty fuel pump, injector seals or any other fuel problem and it did the oil leveled off even as far as 200 miles in two weeks but still had the outstanding water problem so last week took the plunge and had the head looked at turns out it was the head gasket have had it skimmed and repaired very nice job i may ad ( halesowen engines ) have bought all the gaskets and 5/40 fully synth pd oil i am having the engine put back together this weekend the only thing im missing is a derv pump gasket i believe its a maindealer part only which i will hopefully get next week so im hopeing that this will fix it lets hope i have a good sound car that will last me a good few years anyone reading this is there someone who has had a similar problem and what was the outcome
  4. it seems i have diesel in my oil and i have water being pushed out of the expansion tank i have pressure coming out the oil filler when the cap is off same from the dipstick hole when the engine is running and the oil is dripping off the dipstick is it advisible to drive and is it expensive to fix ??
  5. well if its any help i went to a gtr thrill day you get to drive a nissan gtr for 4 laps with a co-driver next to you it starts off you have a induction (bout 20 mins) then you have a breif outlay of the track driven slowley round in a focus st then you have your 4 laps in the gtr ive not been to one before but for 85quid it was well worth it from start to finish your there bout 3hrs the company is everyman racing they have there own website ps yh think its a lot of money but spose it all depends on how much of a petrolhead you are a mate of mine spent 600 quid to see a f1`grand pre once !!!!!!!
  6. Have a 54 plate fabia VRS TDI runs fine part from water leak have got water being forced out the expansion tank doesnt overheat heater is good lots of hot air think I may have either an airlock or a blocked rad or a water pump problem have had a head test and that came back fine so its not the head gasket I have got a good stream of water coming from the small top hose on the expansion tank straight from cold it seems that the coolant only leaks when the engine was under load not on tickover a full tank of expansion tank water will last bout 30 miles before the warning light comes on I know basic mechanics but this I'm a little puzzled any help would be good
  7. My SKODA dealer near me quoted me 360 pounds all in that was complete cambelt kit water pump antifreeze so I think 600 is a help of a lot considering unless the labour rates are very high
  8. Ok thanks for the reply but from what I can see I have good water circulation I can see it being pumped back into the tank from the small top hose surely that would mean my water pump is ok ??
  9. hi all im the proud owner of a skoda fabia vrs tdi 130 had it for about 5 months when i first bought it noticed i a water problem i had coolant being forced out of the expansion tank but it was seemed to be fixed by a new expansion tank cap but its seem to got worse drove from kidderminster to telford on the start up to come back noticed i had no water in the expansion tank i dont thrash my car lets face it you dont really have to lol it was suggested to me that my thermostat was stuck shut or there maybe a water lock in the cooling system or the worst a head gasket so i had a head test which was a syringe with a blue fluid which measured exhaust gases the test came back fine since then i have booked into a garage and had the thermostat changed and also the housing changed too the cars temp runs at 90 it doesnt overheat its just this reoccuring water problem every time i run it the garage have said its not the easiest of jobs so looks like they will be having it back on monday i love my vrs its one of the best cars ive ever had so from one vrs addict to another can someone help cheers.........
