  1. How do you clean the front brake sensors? Is that procedure likely to be in a Haynes manual? Cheers, Andy.
  2. Can you post the link please? That would help me out
  3. Glad he's back on the road. My Fabia fire didn't cause so much damage, but was AFAIK unique to date. The turbo blew on the motorway, but engine ran on after I stopped. Very quickly red hot oil was being sprayed out of the exhaust, which ignited turning my VRS into a £12k big red flame-thrower! The engine stopped and the oil burnt off, and apart from the obvious turbo/intercooler/cat/exhaust damage, only the rear bumper suffered (bit of a meltdown!). All fixed under warranty thankfully, and no-one hurt. I've still got the car 3 years later, hasn't put me off at all since it was completely freak. Good luck with the Fiesta :-)
  4. Hi, I did a lot of searching and reading, and thanks to suggestions here I have been able to reset my service indicator. Now my car is on QG0 fixed interval servicing (the vehicle sticker says this, I was told it by the dealer when I bought it, and it's ALWAYS warned me at 10000 miles that I'm due a service!). It was serviced almost bang on 10k each interval up to 40k, then a bit late at 54k, and just this weekend at 69k (sorry I left you 5k overdue furby!). Very naughty I know, but still it's done now and driving so much better for a full INSP service. Anyhow, the reason for my post, the manual and all advice says that for QG0 the service indicator is reset by holding down trip button for 10secs as you power up ignition, then turning off when ---- is seen. But I didn't get ----. Finally I tried: 1. Hold in trip reset button as you turn on the ignition 3. Keep it depressed for only a couple of seconds 4. Release button, and click (rotate) it once to the right 5. The spanner icon goes out 6. Turn off ignition, job done I'm pretty sure that is also the sequence required for QG1 or QG2 intervals, but why so with mine? Any ideas? Did I upset it leaving it 15k miles brfore service? Did it think it was starting a new variable regime!!? Is the manual wrong? Well sorted now, so hopefully of use to someone else getting frustrated by this! Cheers, Andy.
  5. Thanks all, is it likely to cause any issues... it's a tiny bit of oil in the scheme of things, mind you will only get worse I guess.
  6. Thanks, I guess I didn't find anything because I was looking for 'turbo oil leak'!! Is this the EGR valve then?... Here's the oil stain: Cheers, I'll look for EGR Valve oil leak in the meantime!!
  7. Hi all, I popped the engine cover off my Fabia vRS the other day and saw oil (dirty oil) on the foam underneath. Then I saw where it comes from, a little opening in a part I don't know the name of!! To do with the air supply possibly... will attach pictures in a mo... Question is, is the oil meant to discharge there? Should there be a pipe in the little hole? What's the component with the little hole?! Cheers, Andy.
  8. Thanks very much I get exactly what you're saying Moggy, so I'll just have to put my trust in Powerflex's R&D and testing expertise, and hope they last a little longer than the originals! If they don't, at least I'll know how to change them again... maybe for the revised OEM ones on Simon's reccommendation. Andy.
  9. Hi, I've read a lot of posts and the How-To (good work) on lower wishbone bush jobs. Not many have written about their experience with the newer Powerflex 85-602 2 part front wisbone rear bush. (85-602 fitting instructions) I want to fit this bush for: easier fitting, tighter steering feel, never replace it again. Oh, and the current stock ones are shot! But, is it possible to 'push it in' or 'tap in it' or will I require the 'threaded bar and washers' tool to pull it in like you have to the Cupra one? The guide suggests it pushes in... anyone done this at all? What's the verdict on the car afterwards? Thanks, Andy.
  10. Absolutely. My last vRS ran a Revo (about 175bhp) right from 10k to 60k miles then I sold it. Never had an issue and it did get a thrashing sometimes. My current one blew a turbo BIG TIME at about 30k miles and it was completely stock! Luckily warranty covered the turbo, intercooler, cat, full exhaust, rear bumper (yep - excreted flaming oil melted it!). They were amazed (relieved too!) that the engine was fine. So I wouldn't think twice about remapping the standard engine/turbo. Andy.
  11. I Just had a pair of Rainsport 2 put on the front yesterday, replacing P-Zeros. I know I'm enjoying 'new rubber' syndrome, so it's a bit early to say they perform a lot better (which they currently do of course!) but they are a lot quieter. My last vRS was mapped to 175, and I found that Eagle F1s (GS-D2 back then) were very capable at coping with it all. Cheers, Andy.
  12. I wanted to downsize from diesel saloons (406, C5) because I didn't use the space. I wanted a quick hatch, and was really really wanting a Clio 182, but couldn't live with the fuel or build! Then I test drove a vRS, sold! That was nearly 4 years ago, I leased one from new for 2 years, then just couldn't find anything else that came close, so bought my own. I'll keep it a few years now I reckon. It's the only car I've ever had 2 of. But I'd have a C5 again.. maybe when I'm older... very older!
  13. Me too, so I did - to an Alpine iDA-X300, which was about the same price. The difference is astonishing, I'm well happy with the sound for now. I didn't add anything like an antenna booster or similar connection, I even removed the remote auto antenna feed from the Alpine connector loom, since I didn't know what the corresponding connector was for on the car. Do the yellow/red (ign.live/perm.live) switch over with the supplied Alpine loom - easy. I went for the X300 instead of the X100 because 1. I'm skint, 2. The sound is about as good, 3. I don't actually have an iPod!! so album art isn't a factor. I'm using USB flash stick in the glovebox - easy! Good luck, speakers and separate amp next... after Xmas!
  14. Me too, but i changed the HU first, massive difference! Have you changed your head unit?
  15. ooo I'm not sure. I think if they're the wrong way round then things either don't turn on or stay on all the time? Study the wiring diagram from the Parrot, identify the correct switched/live feeds from the car, and just make yourself very happy that they're the right way round! I did have to switch them to fit an after market Sony HU. Andy.
