  1. my bad I ordered a few sets off the back of this thread for both mine/wife's cars.
  2. Couple of months ago I traded my Octi II VRS in for a Superb Estate 170 CR Elegance - love it to bits and will be definitely chipping it in August when my current insurance vendor expires. Only thing I would say is that I really struggled with the suspension being so different *when compared to the VRS*, it is much more floppy and roll is a problem. I suspect I noticed it more than most as had driven Fabia/Octavia VRS for over 10 years with the last Octy VRS since 2009. However I notice you are going 4x4 so maybe it has lower suspension and/or a different setup? That's my only complaint, along with many reports of the car bottoming out if you lower the suspension :( Basically - I was corrupted by the luxury of the Superb compared to my OctyVRS... I suspect this is where you are as well. If you love the speed handling of the VRS then I would stay put. If you want the luxury and toys and don't mind the roll - then go for it. just my 2pence
  3. Hi, I have exactly the same issue as you with my 2010 170CR elegance estate. It feels "not quite planted" when driving over any kind of bumpy surface, especially pot holes. There is an definite skip out of the back, same as you describe when changing lanes at speed on motorway... I am very interested to see how you get on with the new dampers, my current idea is lowering the suspension by 20-30mm but I'm open to changing the dampers instead/as well tbh. I think it really does matter what you are used to, i came from a long term Octy VRS so I think I am just used to it being harder and more reactive. Please post back
  4. and.... changed my mind, test drove the Octy VRS DSG and I think I'll struggle to go back from the Superb now, don't get me wrong I had my VRS for years and loved it to bits - but I think having had the Superb for a few months I've been corrupted by the luxury  I think the plan now is to chip/lower the Superb. Luxury Rocket ftw
  5. well to be fair, they put a phone button on the Bolero stereo regardless of BT being fitted, so I don't think its an unreasonable question to query whether it is standard for the MFSW. But thanks for the confirmation
  6. the DSG I'm looking at has the MFSW with flappy paddles and phone button on it, does that suggest it has the BT module?
  7. considered this, but its about £400 with fitting for new springs and no guarantee that it will feel "right". Plus there are reports all over the place that anything more than 15mm lowering (standard on the Superb Greenline) causes the Superb's huge wheelbase to bottom out on even reasonable speedbumps, that's not taking into account the fact it is an estate and will be loaded a fair amount of time. Decent H&R springs lower by 40mm and the Eibach by 30mm - its just asking for trouble I think... Remap is happening regardless of Superb/Octavia
  8. Afternoon chaps, I'm considering a return to the VRS about two months after selling my Octy II VRS Limted Edition Hatch (bought Superb Estate for expanding family). I've had either Fabia/Octy VRS for about 10years and I'm just not feeling the love from the Superb, great car but it seems I'm not quite ready for my slippers and flat-cap just yet... Anyway, I've now been completely spoiled by all the toys in my Superb Elegance and if I'm going back to OctyVRS I would be looking at a DSG with the Multifunction steering wheel - then upgrading its Bolero to Columbus and adding Bluetooth connectivity for pairing my phone. My question is related to the best way to do this upgrade and can I have them hooked into the Maxidot? Any info would be appreciated cheers
  9. bought two LEs, and sold two LEs. Immediately regretted it each time Enjoy it... I'll probably buy a third soon and likely still won't have learnt my lesson! (I sold mine about 6 weeks ago... co-incidence?) on a personal note, I love the LE rims, those look custom ones look a little "meh" imo - but hey, its your car
  10. Chaps, I'm considering lowering my 170CR Estate so that it doesn't feel so much like a boat and something more resembling my old Octy VRS when going over bumps or around corners. I've never done this before, but I know a chap who has and he is telling me to start with the springs, lower the car by around 20-30mm and start with that. He suggests I wouldn't need to alter anything else such as a the shock absorbers and it would make the car much less bouncy. Any thoughts on this, I'm specifically interested in: 1) Whether I need to buy different springs for the front/rear as the estate "appears" to have the rear slightly higher, I'm assuming this is too do with weight that may be added to the rear? Or is this handled by the chassis? 2) If I will likely need to make any other alterations? 3) Any recommendations on the springs? I know that the Superb Greenline has 15mm lowered suspension by default and that the Superb FL has a "sports suspension" option - does anyone know if this is just different springs or include other changes as well? More importantly - anyone got any part numbers for the lowered springs? Cheers guys
  11. I paid 9k for my '10 plate 170CR elegance with 80k. Had to drive 100miles to get it though.
  12. I have a 2010 elegance combi, but i don't think it has the auto dimming, there is a manual switch to physically adjust the rear view mirror?
  13. I have a question - since I have got my Superb I have noticed that the glass in general for Windscreen and Driver/Passenger door windows are oddly "dark" but the Wing Mirrors are so ridiculously dark they are actually an issue. When I am reversing in the dark I've taken to cursing about it because they really do prevent me from seeing with any clarity. It is just a matter of time before I scrape something as a result :( Is this just me? I've never had any issues with any previous cars (Fabia/Octavia/Honda_Civic/Volvo_C30_D5) and it is *really* annoying. It is like Skoda have found a way to harness Black Holes as Wing Mirrors to suck in the light and prevent you from parking. Anyone else have similar issue?
  14. from my point of view having also just bought a Superb Combi having driven an '09 Octavia VRS for 4 years (and Fabia VRS for 3 years before that) I find the standard suspension really offputting in the Superb in comparision. Regardless of the road quality it just feels far too bouncy and full of roll, it makes me think of it at every corner. I would 100% opt for the sport suspension without question and fully intend to lower mine by at least 20mm in the coming weeks/months.
