  1. Good call young man, what an easy result. Just shows why forums are worth their weight in gold!! Cheers
  2. Just want to gate crash this thread, as its related.... I noticed my Mk1 VRS has recently decided to like having one end of the high level brake light bright whilst the other end is dim! Any ideas guys?
  3. I have just replaced mine with New OE shocks and H&R Springs, and it drives great not had any issues good direction road holding and nice ride too. I am not bobbing along the road like the nodding dog over every bump or small stone. Don't get me wrong it cost more £415.00 but that included all the little extras that should or are advisable to change whilst doing the job, should outlive the car now.
  4. Hey guys, had the pleasure of being robbed today whilst out in my vRS!! thing is I actually handed my money over whilst grumbling to myself in broad daylight and others followed suit and queued behind me ready to do the same this happened in the local Shell petrol station. Anyway I better not get started too much on this point otherwise I will be bouncing all over the place in anger and moving on to other political issues. Being serious now, I have always ran my car on V Power 98Ron but today noticed its pushing the £1.50pl mark whilst normal 95Ron fuel is "Only" £1.38pl now the car tells me it needs 98Ron fuel so it feels well at all times. Is the car telling me this as it likes Champagne rather than sparkling wine, and is living outside its means? I firmly believe it makes a difference to the performance even if its minimal and have had no issue using it in the past, but finances are starting to rule my head now and don't think I can justify the £0.12p pl or £7.20 I think on a 60ltr tank. Have your habits changed in these tough times? and have you noticed any major difference or any other more serious mechanical problems?
  5. I love Private Plates, mine was only £250.00 from the DVLA K555 VRS. I only bought the plate to hide the age of the car really as the 51 plate did the car no justice. I opted for this plate as the majority of people now look to the two numbers in the middle of the plate to identify the age of the vehicle. Plan worked most people just see it as a 55 plate and ignore the rest. I also have a VW T5 and back in 2004 bought MR 04DDY or MRDADDY cocked around 0 well the outside is still a 0 but the inside is a D. Got it made by a firm in Ireland in standard font and size only got a tug once in 8 years. However a good few coppers have passed comment on the plate but all positive lol. I gotta say the plate looks amazing it cost me £800.00 I had some guy offer me £3000.00 a while back but I am not interested. When I was younger a Mk2 big bumper Golf GTI used to go past the bus stop each day on my way to school (16 years ago where does time go?) anyway it had the plate RAC6R or RACER looked great its still around here but lives on a new Nissan Micra not got the same appeal anymore somehow. I have had load of plates over the years and if you buy right you make money I have always profited on my sales. I made £1500.00 on C5 VET for a fifth generation Corvette.
  6. I did look at the B6 and yes they read very good, however my debit card also saw the advert and legged it. wow they are some expensive bits, the thing is I now struggle to spend megga money on performance parts due to the actual value of the car. Even though I will be keeping her, I know on a good day its worth around 2k so find it hard to get my head around some parts costing half that amount. I really think the retailers should have noticed by now that these cars have reduced on price so their prices should reflect this. But thats not me having a go at you in any way I appreciate your help and advice.
  7. Thanks guys, lucky I got the guy in Ireland to take the pics for me before posting them over. You are right getting shocks is a complete shock I am going to play it safe and stay standard just with some H&R springs. I don't really want to go down the coil over route, or should I say I do but my glass back is telling me otherwise. I think the guy from Skoda is doing me a pretty good price £220.00 for the front and rear shocks, seems good for main dealer. Thanks again.
  8. Sorry for the new post but I cannot edit the previous post to show pics. Can anyone look at the pics and see if these look right for the vRS and have the correct positioning point for the drop links? Thanks Dave
  9. Following on from my previous post can anyone actually confirm or give advice on the above fitting the vRS model? Monroe`s advice is this will fit the vRS however on calling them for a second time they then suggested E4947 however this seems to be for the 1.8 T 4x4 which I am pretty sure wont work. I have already ordered the parts numbered E4858 and E1212 on their previous advice but am now confused. Also If I went with Genuine Skoda parts, correct me if I am wrong the cars are now 11-12 years old at their eldest Skoda won`t have changed the design from the original part so am I not buying something that is in theory 13 year old technology?????? Where the Monroe reflex are more advanced! Has anyone fitted these or had any experience before? Thanks
  10. There are loads for sale, but go and take a look at the quality on offer. Also badge snobs I am afraid oh a skoda I will pay the extra few grand for the Audi or Golf GTI. Just be like me and look after your car and don`t worry about it, I have in my mind that when I want a new car the Skoda will be staying in the family fold its worth so much more.
  11. Evening peps, long time no see hey.. I need to loose weight, I know this as on Wednesday of last week I went to get in the Octy bum on seat and then heard the front spring pop. So now is the time to replace the lot I think, some of you may know I have quite a serious back condition so I dont want to be bumping along the road. I was thinking correct me if I am wrong just going with Munro shocks and some H&R springs for a tiny lowering, I am running 18"s. I am not sure about coilovers although I dont really understand them. I can at a push get around £500.00 to put towards this....... Anyone have any ideas please or anyone have what I need sitting in the garage so I can save a little???? Also I seem to remember reading a good while back you need to be careful buying the right dampers as companys like to give you the standard 1.8 turbo ones. Cheers Dave
  12. Thanks Guys, I will have a look at both options tomorrow. I didn't just want to pull it and break the thing, so thought it would be safer asking the troops!!! Cheers again fellas.
  13. Evening All, hope everyone is well!! As some of you know I have recently changed my interior to full leather, well the armrest was still cloth and has been annoying me. Finally I have bought a new lid to swap over, but haven`t a clue how to get the the existing lid off? Can anyone please help me? Cheers Dave
  14. So based on this, I guess you can still get the oil out the gearbox although its in for life?
