  1. Just an update for anyone having similar problems in future. Ordered key from dealers, normal Megamos type 48 transponder in key. Chassis number not in transponder, not pre coded and not CAN. It makes the car electrically the same as 9N3 VW Polo. Local locksmiths could not pull the 4 digit ID code to code the keys. Turned out local dealers were cheaper anyway. Really good service from local dealer in Darlington.
  2. I've repaired 2 in the last 6 months, first was a Roomster, then a 59 plate Fabia. Being realistic your not going to find the parts you need in the right colour, even if the miracle happens, odds are they will be scratched and need painting again. Up until the A-post, a Fabia2 and Roomster are identical. Suspension and radiators are 9N VW Polo compatible aswell. I was shocked just how cheap the Skoda dealers were. From memory a genuine front wing was less than 60 pounds plus the VAT. If the front chassis legs are bent it will need to go on a jig, this can be expensive. Normally if its been hit this hard then the airbags will have gone. I found these to be very expensive. If the car was easy to repair, chances are the insurance company would have repaired the car for you, so inspect the car carefully before you think about a repair.
  3. I have a 59 plate Fabia 2, 1.2 petrol, 6 valve, Simos ECU, pre facelift. My question is this car using CAN based Megamos transponders that are coded to chassis number? The car is very similar to my previous VW Polo 9N3, which didn't use CAN transponders at all. I believe they use Megamos Crypto type 48 transponders. The reason why I'm asking this question is because I have no keys for the car and am having lots of conflicting information from garages and locksmiths regarding coding new keys. Thanks.
  4. 2008 Fabia you should be able to retrofit OEM solution. The parts you will need are: 1. Replacement central convinience unit (part #6Q0 959 433 E from a Skoda Fabia) 2. 3 button remote fob (part #1JO 959 753 DA) 3. Replacement flip key blade cut for a fob key from a photo of my existing key 4. Transponder for new key, you could re use the transponder from your original key. There are plenty of guides on the internet for doing this on Polo 9N, its essentially the same car. You will need access to VDCS to change soft coding on convinience unit. The remote part of the fob can be coded manually through door lock. Probably the worst part of the job is access to convinience unit. On RHD car it is directly above the clutch pedal. Your looking for a black plastic box, dimensions 11cm x 5cm x 2.5cm. Hope this helps.
