  1. Finally got the VAG code reader plugged in: G46 Rear Left sensor 003 mechanical failure. Thanks for the advice everyone. Guess I'll be taking the wheel off on Saturday!
  2. Hi Scott. TBH I didn't even know about TPS. Looking at the price of them I doubt very much they were fitted. .....but are you saying ignore this?
  3. Not sure I have an option to do this? Could you explain? I have a Mk2 vRS.....this sounds like something I might be able to do on something a bit newer (ie with a screen!), but am open to suggestions?
  4. I've been taking forum advice on the best size of winter tyres/alloys for my Mk2 vRS Octavia. I have picked up a really nice set of Audi 16" alloys and found some 205/55R16 tyres ( Hankook Winter i'cept evo2) at a reasonable price. But! Now the ABS, ESP and tyre pressure lights are constantly illuminated! I have tried using the tyre pressure reset button (having first made sure the tyre pressures were all the same), but the lights just pop back on. I have a VAG code reader which I will plug in tomorrow, but would appreciate any additional advice. Am particularly concerned because I 'tested' the ABS this evening and it doesn't appear to be working........I'm assuming the ESP has done the same?
  5. Think I might have found a similar set here in Plymouth. 16" Audi alloys about 10 years old which (from comparison on the internet) look like they are from an A4. This makes them 57.1 centre bore and 5x112 PCD (perfect for the vRS) ......I've tried copying various PCD measurement techniques from google but can't figure this out at all. Fortunately the seller has kindly 'leant' me a wheel to try on my vRS tomorrow. The markings on the inside state as follows: 7Jx16H2....again, I think this is OK for the vRS ET 44.5.....My only concern here is that the ET for the vRS is 54 and I'm reading that is important not to "deviate too much from the original off set" ......trouble is I have NO bloody idea what this means and therefore do not know what "too much" might mean! I feel that I am nearly there in this saga, but would appreciate any last advice so that I don't end up with an interesting collection of alloys in my garage!
  6. That's great, thanks very much indeed. I've just seen a set on ebay for a Passat which are 5x112 and reasonably local to me. I'm assuming the centre caps are interchangeable! If not I'll be stencilling Skoda badges on to them!
  7. I had a feeling things were going too well! I'll google spigot rings, but can anyone recommend a donor vehicle with 16" alloys that would be a straight swap?
  8. One of the forum members has a set of 215 55 16 tyres on 16" alloys.......would this work?
  9. Am I right in thinking 225 45 17 winter tyres would be OK as well (on 17" alloys obviously!), or are 16" rims better in the winter for some reason?
  10. Hi, are these 16" rims and what make, size and condition are the tyres? Photos would be good mate.
  11. Hi, I'm trawling the forum for advice on winter tyres. I have found some 195.65 r15 winter tyres for sale on Audi alloys. They are 5x112 so will fit the hub. Question: Are they big enough for the disc brakes on my Mk2 Octavia vRS and are they going to look ridiculous!? Thanks!
  12. Hi, I'm reluctantly trading in my mk1 for a mk2 vRS next weekend. Can anyone confirm whether the foot packs are the same? The Thule website seems to think that the 754 system will fit both, but I'm certain that I read on this forum that they were different? I guess I'll find out next Sunday morning but I could really do with knowing in advance. Cheers.
