  1. Thanks for your kind words. FYI: The handle is the same shape as the parts daigram baove. I meant to photo it before I put it back in, but forgot.
  2. Now that it’s finally stopped raining, I’ve been able to sort this problem out. Given that the pull handle was intact. i.e. the screw hole was not torn, I decided it must have not been attached properly by the single torx screw that held the large trim panel in place. Then I membered I had removed this trip panel some time ago to access the third brake light. When I replaced the trim panel, although the pull handle appeared to be in place properly, it must have moved slightly as the dozen very stiff clips were cajoled – forced – back into place. That meant when the trim screw went back in, it did not go through the pull handle. As the handle is a very tight fit, it stayed put for months before pulling out. Intact. So I just managed to fiddle it back into place through the hole next to the trim screw recess and put the trim screw back in, capturing the handle. Sorted. Fortunately I did not have to remove the trim panel to do that – that is a job I would advise people to avoid of possible. Two photos attached. One showing the underside of the trim panel when I removed it months ago – in the centre you can see the recess for the screw sticking up, and next to it, the hole that the grab handle goes though (handle is in place, but on the other side to the panel). And a photo of the handle back in place today, up close to the trim hole. Thanks for the help. Hope this helps someone else.
  3. Thank you nta16 and Inspectorman. Since posting my question I've been away, sorry for the delay in responsing. It is now pouring with rain here, so with a bit of luck I can have a go at this tomoorw. Wil ll report back. My suspicions are that the screw that appears to hold the large trim panel also holds the handle as well, sandwiched betwen trim and metal. Yet the handle is undamaged. I will learn more soon. Thanks for the diagram. Could it be that Part 29 is actually one of the many spring clips that hold the trim in place, rather than being a fixing for the grab handle? The image looks like that.
  4. Octavia MkII estate. 2010. Rubber grab handle for pulling down tailgate just came off. It is intact, no damage. Can't see how to reconnect it. Does the entire trim have to come off the tailgate, and then what? I can see an adjacent recess in the trim with a screw up there, but I assume this is only for releasing the trim. Grateful for any help.
  5. Ken - sorry to ask, but what do you mean by the ABS chopper disc?
  6. Many thanks Varoom. I have just messaged a possible helper about 15 miles from me in Surrey. Fingers crossed.
  7. Varoom, thanks for replying. Tyre pressures are OK. Ken - many thanks for your input. I assume I can only get the codes by taking the car to a Skoda dealer, and paying lots? Or is there software I can buy to do this myself? The fault is intermitent. First trip out today (20 miles) - ABS warning light on. Turned engine off. Made the return journey almost right away. No ABS light. Does this tell us anything?
  8. Skoda Octavia MKII, estate, L&K spec. 2010. Last couple of days the ABS warning light on the dash has been acting up. Sometimes it comes on soon after moving away, sometimes it does not come on at all. How can one tell if this is really a fault in the ABS system or just a dodgy connection? I ask that because there is an intermittent warning light that comes on and off relating to the rear brake light set above the window in the tailgate. That can be on or mainly off, depending on how the tail gate is closed, indicating a loose connection. When the ABS light is on, the Traction Control System light also comes on, but according to the handbook this is to be expected as both of these feed into the Electronic Stability Programme (EPS). And then there is the unusual factor of extreme heat of late in the southeast of England. The car sits in it all day long. Any advice gratefully received.
  9. Roottoot - yes, temp gauage it is. My error, I knew I had made it. I was confusing it with the oil temperature which comes up as an option on the MFD screen. The gauges work, but the lights have gone out on the two needles.
  10. Thank you. I found two possibles - one in Byfleet, one in West Horsley. Am I getting close?
  11. Well done for finding this, thank you. But looking at the procedure scares me. That looks like very skilled work - and there msut be a risk for a rank amateur like me of making an error elsewhere on the PCB and ending up with no intruments working on the display. What a pity it can't jsut be a loose wire...Guess I'm stuck with the problem. But many thanks for the help. Someone will benefit from it no doubt.
  12. Thanks MicMac. I'll look around but I fear this may end in financial tears (or inaction).
  13. Thanks MicMac. I fiddled with the dimmer first, no good. And I've alreday thumped it. No good. I don't like the sound of the instrument cluster coming out. Big job? Where is that located? Do the needles light from their centres, and what sort of light (LED?) is it?
  14. Octavia 2010 TDi estate. When lights are on, the needles on the oil temp gauge and the fuel gauge are not lit (bottom left and bottom right of thre dash display). All gauges are working and lit, the needles on other gauges are lit, but but not on the two lower gauges. No idea where to start to fix this. is it a fuse? And how are these needles lit?
