  1. Hello Folks Got my call up papers for my Yeti and have had the oil change job done by my local dealer as advised. But I am puzzled why does changing the gearbox oil take 3 hours! And surely the main area where electrics hit oil is in the mechatronics unit? Which has its own oil supply. In other countries recalls the mechatronics unit has been replaced in many cases. So If indeed the gearbox itself oil has been replaced where is the electrical involvement? Does the gearbox have filler and drain plugs ? What type of oil is it and does it need changing in the future? My dealer can't or won't tell me!! Any ideas welcome. John
  2. Oh Dear this is a worrying possible problem for many of us! As an ex electrical engineer I never cease to be amazed at the ridiculous prices asked by car manufacturers for unreliable electronic components. A motor and control unit at that sort of price should not fail within a couple of years. Think of your fridge motor / compressor it beavers away for 10 / 20 years working best part of 24hours a day! The majority of car electrics are cheap and nasty and should be priced as such. Best Wishes John
  3. Here are a few notes for anyone else attempting to change the heater resistor on this model! First remove the pen holder if you pull at the bottom it will break. Use a small screwdriver to lift the catches at the bottom and hinge out upwards. Remove the passengers airbag, three large torx screws ease the assembly out of the top of the dashboard I did not unplug it, just place on the top of the dashboard. Have a peer in the hole and locate the resistor pack. Squeeze the locking tabs on the plug and pull out the plug. grasp the unit and turn anticlockwise to remove. If the replacement is a non Skoda part you may find it a very tight fit i.e. won't turn to lock into place. I filed a little off the tabs and applied a tiny amount of grease to the tabs, it then fitted. Push in the plug till it clicks and test OK! Carefully replace the airbag assy replace the three torx screws clip back the pen holder Job Done!

  6. Hello Here is a picture of the dash board. No signs of any screws! Thanks for any help in advance. John
  7. Hello Folks My son has a 2009 Fabia HTP and the heater resistor has failed. All the guides I can find for dismantling feature cars with proper glovebox with lid. My sons car has two openings, no lids. I have examined the assembly and can find no obvious screw heads. Does anyone know how to gain access to the resistor unit in this model please. Any help gratefully received. Many Thanks John
