  1. These pictures are not to scale - Surely the Superb is longer than Passat in total? In those pictures, it looked a lot shorter.
  2. Cheque received and cashed - within 28 days from 1st contact, very reasonable customer service cycle. Skoda UK
  3. This might be a good thing? You might be able to insist on the agreed price.
  4. Did they mention the price might be changed subject to WLTP, and if so you could get full deposit back should you feel unhappy to proceed? BTW, my dealer promised to give me a call W/C 17th Sept for update.
  5. So basically the first batch of "real" petrol MY2019 (you can include extras like "digital cluster") will be delivered after 29 weeks from now - 22nd March 2019. This might trigger more complexity during Brexit period...
  6. Ok, I knew they were going to say this... "Given the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA)'s approval, we do not consider that the issue which you have reported is related to the technical measure. " But more importantly... "Notwithstanding, we would like to offer financial support by way of a cheque....... as a gesture of individual goodwill." And there are a few more lines of legal disclaimer which is not important either. A cheque seems to be on its way (28 working days)! Now this makes me more than happy to wait patiently for the MY2019 Kodiaq price-list (after ongoing WLTP delay), rather than being tempted by a few quick-delivery good Volvo XC90 offers...
  7. The ADAC link does not look good for VAG and Toyota!
  8. Seems VW is slow in terms of WLTP approval. SEAT and SKODA are way behind without any published list at all so far... Currently VW WLTP approved models:
  9. After the 1.6T petrol's removal from the 5008 line, I didn't even bother to do a test drive on it. The 5008 is a very practical MPV-SUV (although torsion bar and no 4x4) with great standard technologies and an exterior I like very much. But 1.2T is not powerful enough even for the 3008 many of my colleagues have bought! They all complained about lacking pace in the city and on A-roads (motorway cruising seems good).
  10. This is getting ridiculous... Got a phone call from Volvo today... very tempting...
  11. I agree there is huge price difference: The SEL 2.0TSI + options e.g. driver assist, rear camera, digital cluster, front sensor, crew protection etc. will be around 32k after discount The XC90 T5 momentum will have all of these + nicer seats, will be around 46k after discount The Sorento KX-2 doesn't provide desirables e.g. digital cluster (only a 7" round one), petrol engine, least fun during test drive, come at 29K after discount XC90 will also be taxed much more. The first 5-year service pack is reasonable @£599, but parts and liquids will be more expensive. Overall 7-8 year ownership (me typical) will cost roughly 20k more than the Kodiaq, and residue maybe 5k more at the end? Just thinking this might be my last internal combustion engined car, might be ok to spread 15k extra over 8 years? But Kodiaq is still my top choice at the moment.
  12. I'm not in a hurry. Apparently most car manufacturers are suffering different levels of delays. But if this continues into Sept/Oct, my current order of preference: 1. Kodiaq 2.0TSI SEL --> 2. XC90 T5 --> 3. Sorento diesel KX-2 might need to be reviewed...
  13. Just got an update from our local dealer - no official MY2019 price list yet... I guess DTD (diesel only) and coast2coast etc. may have got a provisional price list from somewhere... I think this is all down to WLTP delays...
  14. Here we go - "update soon" I have no idea where are those prices from Coast2Coast coming from... For example, the digital cluster for £500.
  15. I didn't know this. I did the EGR replacement at a local garage (with genuine parts) on the day it broke down because I need it for business travel. Is it too late now to argue with the Skoda Service?
  16. A long delayed update - a few months after this post (Autumn 2017), the EGR valve was clogged and had to be replaced, costing 800+GBP together with glow plugs renewal... I was travelling for a meeting at 05:30am when the car went into limp mode on an A-road while overtaking a lorry. Very dangerous as it suddenly lost power, and there was about 600 yds left before dual carriageway end. The lorry driver must felt hilarious as someone trying to overtake suddenly decelerated from 70 to 50mph, and soon disappeared from the back... The RAC roadside guy tried to clear the clog but the car limp again in 30 minutes. Had to cancel the business trip and return home. After EGR replacement, the dial wobbling stopped. BTW, my car got diesel-gate software fix just before all these happened.
  17. I'm thinking of trading my beloved 2012 diesel Superb for a petrol Kodiaq. However, the UK Skoda online configurator still shows MY18. Online brokers/discount websites such as DTD, Carwow, whatcar either showing MY18, or only has diesel options (DTD). Only Coast2Coast is showing MY2019 configurations (L&K, digital cluster etc.). I heard rumours that due to WLTP, the petrol versions are still waiting for the final OTR price tag, and dealers are refusing to place orders. Anyone has got any updates from dealers? My local dealer contact seems on holiday at the moment....
  18. Same thing happen to my 2012 Superb after servicing and timing belt + water pump change yesterday. It wobbles slightly (1-2 tip width) when I cruise at low speed (20-30mph), not happening at other speed. I also set cruise control at 30mph, digital shows steady 48 kmh, but the needle wobbles. So it's not my right foot... Will do a long run this weekend and see if this persists...
  19. I've just signed up for that. I might not use their courtesy car. Since my policy with insurer (elephant.co.uk) has included the legal expenses, is it still necessary to use Skoda Ensurance's legal cover? Also since I'm required to contact Skoda Ensurance first, would this mean the legal expenses will automatically go through them instead of my insurer?
  20. forgot to mention. I took the car to service and mentioned the problem. Both the Skoda service technician and chief technician had a throughout check: starter motor no problem, A/C fluid no problem, nothing else appears to have problem. Shall I just leave it like that? (this sound still exists) Or shall I go for a different VW garage?
  21. I think you are right. The graining/scrubbing has mislead my quick judgement. I'll try to keep the wear even and avoid tyre swap in the future, and change the front two more often than the back two. BTW, I'm currently having 4 Dunlop fastresponse tyres. Can I change the front two to a different brand when they finish?
  22. Dear all, Thanks for the reply. I'll get over with it. No big deal really. When I collected the car, the receptionist told me the tyres were done, but later it was discovered otherwise. I don't think it was her fault, either. Just some mis-communication. I was trying to build a good relationship with my local Skoda dealer, by ordering the car directly from them (£945 more than DTD etc. after negotiation, on the basis of them providing free 1st interim service). Then the management company changed, and they refused to deliver my free 1st service :-( Tried to contact the previous company which still exists at other locations doing other brands on various occasions with no success. Thankfully after some nice conversation, Skoda UK offered to pay for it out of good will. But you can see where the little frustration has come from. Still very happy with my Superb and Skoda UK, but will not limit myself to the local dealer when the next service comes.
  23. The thing is that now the dealer insists me to pay for the swap, which I find annoying... However I'm not sure if I have the ground to make a complain about it...
  24. Went to local Skoda dealer today for the 1st service. It's been over a year and 6,100 miles, so I asked if they could do a front-rear tyre swap. They said yes it's included. But when I returned, it seems they didn't swap the tyres at all. During a 10 minutes' phone call lately, they insist all 4 tyres' tread readings "are all identical at 6mm and all with even wear, making the swap pointless". I'd be very happy if that's true, meaning they've been maintained very well. However, I've taken another look of them, and the front and rear seem very different. Here we go, the photos: Front tyre: Rear tyre: I don't want to argue with the professional measurement they've made. And I'm quite happy about the service overall. It's likely they are correct that it's pointless to swap the tyres at this stage. But out of curiosity, am I misreading the appearance of the tyre treads? Thanks!
