  1. My 64 plate TDI 105 also looses a small amount of coolant. I do notice a drip/trickle when at the fuel station last week. The leak looked to be coming from just in front of the firewall and the back of the engine. it’s not a huge leak though, top up roughly every 6 months and check before a long journey.
  2. Mine is the same (TDI sport) as said above it’s the Diesel engine being effeienct/slow to heat up. My mk5 GT TDI was the same, but that had an auxiliary heater to get the cab warm. It was quite a shock going from that to the rapid. I posted about it a couple of years back and the suggested solution was to get a cover for the grill vents to aid warming - but it’s ugly as sin.
  3. Erm 22kg in books and learning materials is a lot to carry that far pal. But I appreciate your input.
  4. Thanks all. Looks like ill I'll be staying in the TDI club a bit longer then. Has anyone had their 1.6 TDI diesel gate fix yet?
  5. If it was me absolutely walk it of bike it. But unfortunately itll it'll be my wife and she is a teacher. She carries 60 books with her to school. Not going to work even if I could convince her to pedal power it.
  6. So I bought my 64 space back new from skoda in derby in 2015. 1.6tdi cr 105hp pano roof and all the toys. My commute has been getting smaller and smaller going from 60 miles a day to what will be about 3-4 obviously I don't need a diesel for that - and it's going to do the car more harm than good. The car is perfect other than now being a diesel what is my best course of action? Px against a petrol I'd guess? Feels like I'm going to loose out a lot. btw it's not on any kind of HP or PCP. I own it.
  7. I seem to recall the xenons being available in Ireland which is RHD.
  8. Mine is two clicks max but even on one click it will not move. The only real proof I have is the gradient of the hill it was parked on and witnesses that say it moved 20-25 minutes after it was parked.
  9. Anyone got any thoughts as to whether this is worth pursuing with Skôda? My insurance has had to pay out obviously but I'd at least like my excess back?
  10. Yeah my mind has that answer too. One click is all my HB needs and I can't push it to move, but if the hand brake is off, I can push it along my flat drive with only two fingers and my weight behind it. She is certain the HB was applied when she came to the car in its sorry state, but truly can't remember as she was a little shuck up.
  11. So if I was parking on a sizeable hill then I would. But the engineering world gave us a handbrake for a reason, not sure why I'd assume it would fail and thus put it in gear etc.
  12. So wifey parked the Rapid up, it was on a slight hill but not Everest or anything. Popped into a friends house for a cuppa. 20 minutes later and a loud bang is the sound of my Rapid rolling into the front of said friends Hyundai. She is adamant the handbrake was applied and I believe her (logic being that if she'd have gotten out of the car without it applied, it would have rolled whilst she'd got stuff out of the boot and before she'd walked the 5 car lengths to the door) No one injured or property damaged but the rapid has damage to the F. Bumper - wing - bonnet and 1 smashed headlight. And the Hyundai? Ha - traded paint and a scuff on the bumper. :,(
  13. Ah I've been dying to see the rapid with some TT comps on. Granted mine is a space back. You're lowered too aren't you? Hmm still has an arch gap :(
