  1. James, I'm sure your services would be wondrous even at twice the price By the way, maybe your problem with selling your car flows from the rather lacklustre description - 'Something with 4 wheels, a roof, and some pedals'...... I recall having something like that as a child, made from old orange boxes and pram wheels. Smelt a bit like an AdBlue tank too I got a much better deal from; http://www.thecarbuyingservice.co.uk/?utm_source=Pure360&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=siteEmails than I was offered by the disinterested nerds in my local Skoda dealership (and mine actually had one of the engines that had been sprinkled with VW fairy dust)..... might be worth a try. Good luck with the sale and I can only apologise for the rash and unjustified actions of the buying public. I really don't know where they get the cheek! I suppose the up side is all the great deals on new ones now. Poor old VW are the real victims in all of this....gotta go....I'm starting to well up... JimB

  5. This is shaping up like one of those internet scams that we read about in the papers! It just so happens that my daughter lives in Hinckley (spooky eh?) and even spookier we're visiting there this very next coming weekend. So it looks like we might have an arrangement, with thanks to Jonny5ive. JimB
  6. If you look at the picture in my first post you will see, below the jack, a large black plastic screw fitting. The bottom part of this goes through the spare wheel kit and locks into the centre of the wheel well (if you look in your wheel well you'll see where it twist locks in) and the top end screws down to secure the wheel. No other parts are needed. JimB

  15. I ordered my new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plugin Electric Hybrid Vehicle) yesterday and as it has to come from Japan I should get it in around 6/7 weeks. I almost wish I was still a company car driver as the BIK deal on this car is phenomenal - although it's almost criminal that many of the people who take it for that reason can't be bothered to plug it in!
  16. Well I simply don't beieeeeve it! On the day visited the muppets at Gordon Lamb Chesterfield, Skoda Mansfield, Skoda Nottingham and then went to Ikea on the Derby side of the M1....remember saying to SWMBO that I should have logged the location of the Derby dealer (unfortunately also Gordon Lamb) but after all of that including the torture of the enforced IKEA nature trail store trek I'd lost the will to live and we went home. BTW, now 2 requests for brochure and test drive to Skoda UK and never heard a Dickie bird. As owners and servicers of two Skodas from new I find that utterly disgraceful. Mercifully I found a dealer in Mitsubishi Outlanders (the plug in hybrid electric vehicle variety (in Leeds)) who was actually happy to talk turkey (unlike the disinterested idiots in the Chesterfield agency), drove up there on Saturday and spent a small fortune with them. Now looking forward to delivery in about 6 weeks, the first shipload has sold out! BTW...they drive like a dream and if you happen to be a company car driver the BIK rate is going to save you enough for your holidays every year! Cue Queen's 'I want to break free'.....and I have....wheeeeeeee!
  17. Once again I have to admire your optimism. You're kinda screwed as its a company car lease. Your company isn't (screwed) however. Nobody can contract out of their legal obligations. The motor (and every other) trade puts in a lot of time and expense to try to do so and to convince it's customers that they have no rights. The prime example is the warranty. That is not there to protect the customers, it's there to (usually successfully) attempt to limit the manufacturers liability. The manufacturers may pretend that they have the right to alter the specification without notice but you also have the right to reject their unilateral alteration. Your company's fleet manager probably doesn't give a flying fig what your wheels look like and make no mistake when it gets chopped in it won't make any difference to its value. If you were a private buyer you could reject the alteration, despite their attempts to contract out of that. And that would be satisfying if you had a backup plan. Otherwise, accept the wheels and invent a really good story for your friends and neighbours (if they're the kind you spend a lot of time looking at your horrible wheels and constantly talking about them). If the above is a problem move to another area. But then your neighbours will have to move. The only act of random kindness that quickly comes to mind is euthanasia
