  1. If the strut isn't placed perfectly back in place into the hub or at the correct height that cant twist the damper and twist the spring making it pull. Make sure both are straight and bang on in the centre. Tyres scrubbed on inner states the tracking is off. Have 4 wheel checked (most places check for free)
  2. Bringing back an old post here for anyone who re-reads it... o/s side lights were out so after changing the bulbs they still didnt work. Fuse 33 has a 5amp fuse that had blown for side lights in the u.k borrowed the heated wing mirror fuse in slot 38 for now and they work a treat.
  3. Takes 6 constant miles of driving to get the cat fully working and at correct temperature. Lambda sensors send small voltage to the computer to indicate the oxygen level so if say your back box wasnt connected it would have reduced the back flow pressure and annoyed it. Good hard run before every MOT test puts you 1 step closer to an mot pass
  4. I have seen these on DRUMS!!!! imagine it.....drums spin around....so do the brembo fakes. What a stupid chav!! Doubt they stayed on for more than 500 miles without flying off and taking out a vrs!
  5. Oh yes its a diesel. They do still use smoke testers to measure the smoke density. Unsure if an egr would effect this though. Sounds a lot of effort and money to remove the EGR. Why not clean out the inlet?
  6. Fuel filter id change. Its a pressurised system so 2 points in 1 end to 1 point in the other. push in the button and pull on the pipes n it clips off. Make sure you have very very low fuel to reduce pressure and do a quick clip off and clip onto the new 1 at speed. expect some floor spillage and close your mouth. Use dealer parts as not that much more expensive. I dont as like the extra pennies. Belts are easy to change. Chain driven so no worries there. Pollen filter drops out under the glove compartment. Always air filter helps the power. Temp sensors always go so do dealer for the 20 quid rather than 8 on ebay as it lasts 5 years not 5 mins. Sump plugs always leak if re used so get a new 1. New oil and use premium. Flush it before (not vital as sometimes dirty carbon oil sticks to piston rings that helps seal so may remove that dirt n start burning oil due to piston rings needing replacing. experience tells that story) buy a vag com off ebay for 8 quid and plug it in to check faults (socket behind the tray that pulls down on the right of steering wheel give it a good tug to release) Tighten sparks to 30nm of torque. (thats a good push with your hand but not so tight it feels difficult) grease all the doors and clean any old excessive bits off to clean up Tyre pressures and check brake pads and discs. Take off drums and hoover out the brake dust, checking pads are ok (1 may be larger than the other as it has a leading edge for self servo from drums) Peel back the rubber bit of the slave cylinder housing the 2 pistons in the drum set up. If theres brake fluid it needs replacing as the seals have gone and will poor out fluid leaving u with v poor brakes. Do it yourself its all very easy, Or filters etc urself n get a mechanic to drop oil as need a T50 to undo the sump plug. Hope this helps someone. Mark
  7. Oh and from jan 2012 an mot test can be failed due to EML on.
  8. The light will come on your dash and it is more than likely to fail an emissions test on the mot. Any reason you want to blank it off??
  9. Thanks guys was a great help! 35mm is a touch high but 80 is too low for speed bumps around town so think 50mm ish is a good call. Mark

  12. Hey all. Got some BBS 16" off a golf v5 fitting correct tyres next week. Needs lowering for definate but wasnt sure how much. fabias are 4x4s anyway but wanted to see what 60/40mm lowering looks like. Also any 35mm lowering if you have any so i can compare. Thanks Mark
  13. Got a fabia 1.4 8v mpi. Got some montreal 2 16" bbs alloys for it but dont want to put them on till i have fitted coilovers. they are 190 on ebay for a cheapo set but has anyone got any used ones from a petrol fabia thats cheaper than 190? Dont really want to buy new as ive had 8 cars in 3 years so may switch for another one before long thanks mark

    Hello

spraying up some montys myself for my fabia. Got them off my golf. Why are you using a bora interior? im ditching the golf for another fabia because the interior is soo boring and pain. Good blue lights though
  15. yeah 30 is a lot. Doing mine next week when i get round to it. think it was 8 quid for 2 off ebay. If that price includes fitting then it is a very good deal! Ebay a used headlight too will be half as much.
