  1. So as long as its been serviced regularly and looked after well then they should be good for 200k+ then ? Does that still apply if they have been mapped to the standard 170 area ? If so this should open up a few more cars to me
  2. Probably not the best way to phrase it lol I would say that i am looking for less than 120k but if the car was really nice i wouldn't mind going a bit higher
  3. Lol never thought of that Nothing in my budget on here at present :(
  4. Either really, I would remap a standard one anyway so if It's already been done then that's ok. I don't want stupidly high miles but appreciate that for my budget I won't get low miles. I would have had a slightly higher budget but my fuel filler neck has split on my other car so that takes preference unfortunately. Apart from the autotrader/ebay and gumtree where else can I look ?
  5. Sold my car today so the search for a VRS begins properly now !! I am looking around the 3000-3500 price range but nothing local jumps out at me at present. If anyone sees one can they give me a shout please, I have been on the usual sites so hopefully one or two will come up soon.
  6. If you can't keep both them keep the one you like driving most, obviously the VRS will be cheaper to run so any costs incurred now will be recovered quickly against the running costs of the Clio.
  7. It's a private seller, I asked and he said that its been serviced every year but didn't need the cam belt doing. I mentioned that it should have been changed at 60k (current mileage is 84), his answer was that it had never been changed and didn't need to be changed because it was a private sale not a trade sale ????????? Think I will be giving it a miss pmsl
  8. It's available for £2200 so pretty cheap, I only communicated via text so only have a few details. Need to sell my car before I buy one anyway so will have a look then.
  9. I asked the owner if the cam belt had been changed and he said that it hadn't and that it didn't need to be, hence the question about that. Car appears to be in good condition so I may well give it a viewing. Anything I should look for aside from the usual checks ? VRS specific things ?
  10. Would you but a VRS with no service history ? One i have seen has 84k on a 04, 12 months mot and seems ok Also what mileage does the cam belt need changing as there seems to be various answers for this ? Price reflects the lack of history so its quite cheap
  11. I have searched further into this and it appears that it may not have been the traction control cutting in but the faulty MAF causing it to run like it did, it says that the faulty MAF can make it stutter and not rev freely so it could have been that. The traction control light on the dash is also the indicator for a faulty MAF. I will find out tomorrow when I test it again before paying for it or not as the case may be lol
  12. Searched about it and there were a few posts about the traction control light coming on with a MAF fault but I can't see how it would actually cause a traction control issue ? I will test it properly before I get it though so maybe it just the warning light !
  13. I will be picking my car up on Sunday but the garage just called to say that they had a fault with the traction control again which they are solving by fitting a new MAF. Does this sound feasible ? When I test drove it the traction control was kicking in all the time stopping the car from revving ! Could this be something more sinister or are they doing the right fix ?
  14. Feel free to PM me if you would rather not post on here
