  1. Hi did you manage to identify the cause of the 'cutting out' 'stalling'? I to have the same problem, the car has been fine for the past 2 yrs and now just after a big service it has started to stall at idle and when not under load at low rpm? The skoda dealer which serviced the car has said they think it's the HPFP ? Which seem strange to fail now? And have quoted quite a bit for replacement. I have trawled the forums and have seen others have had similar stalling problems which have been resolved by: 1- replace low fuel pressure sensor mounted on the HPFP 2- replace crankcase breather and PVC valve 3- clean / de-gum throttle body Please could you let me know how you fixed your issue? Thanks Rob
  2. Interesting to hear the lack of Haldex oil change wouldn't put some of you off... This is staring to changing my initial view, + I cannot seem to find much on the internet regarding 'Lack of Oil change' = Problems. The only thing in the back of my mind is the vehicle has been used off road (evidence in the arches and under the car) probably just from farm track / roads as the owner is a farmer... this and the 40k service interval which has now been missed by some 80k miles, what (if any) problems are likely to occur? As I mentioned my searches on the internet aren't coming back with much... relating to damage caused as a result of a missed oil change. The car drove without fault, and the system seemed to engage fine (no nasty sounds - non sound at all actually). Rob
  3. Well no sign of a change in 120 k miles unfortunately, a real shame. Going to do some more google searches, don't want to be facing a massive bill if it were to go pop. Thanks for the posts all....
  4. Thanks Huskoda and Anddenton, Glad to hear yours was okay at 80k.... Will check the operation of the Haldex and take it from there. Rob
  5. Hi All, Going to look at a 2.0 PD TDI Scout tonight, though it has a full service (not all Skoda) its unclear if the Haldex oil has ever been changed? The car is 5 yrs old and has 120k miles... Please could you let me know your thoughts regarding the Haldex system and issues which could arise if the oil has not been changed as per the service schedule? If the Oil in the Haldex unit has never been changed, should I just walk away? Are there ways to check the system is okay / faulty? What are the likely implications of no Oil change? I've been told the car has mainly been used on long distances Motorways etc (not sure if this is likely to reduce the need of the Haldex system and possible damage caused as if the Oil has not been changed every 40k ). Thanks in advance. Rob.
  6. Hi, Is the meet still on? If so see you there... Rob
  7. Thanks for getting back to me. Out of interest what did you think of your set up, DV and neutrspeed induction kit ? Thanks Rob
  8. Hi, I know this is an old post, but is the forge kit still for sale? Thanks Rob
  9. Hi, I need to book my VRS TFSi in for a service... Just wanted to know if anyone could recommend one of the skoda dealers in the Cambs, P'brough, Bed's area? I' looked at the dealer review section for my area but they seem to be old reviews, and most negative :0( Thought I'd ask here as i know this ones going to be dear, and want to avoid a negative experience... Car needs the following... Main service (plugs etc). Timing belt. Brake fluid. Thanks Rob
  10. Hi, They are good, but usualy quite dear.... Say £130 - £150 Have them on the front of my mk2 VRS grip is good in dry, damp so so but with 200bhp wouldn't expect to much more. I'd say a good buy at that price and size. I also had these on my old A6 avant... Excellent grip (though was Quattro) only managed to get 13k out of them but car was heavy and went well around corners at speed. For £106 + shipping think that's a good price for Michelin tyres in size 18" Rob.
  11. Hi, Thanks Alkip, Mines on fixed... So just need to find someone who knows how to recode and hey presto ! That's good news. Thanks, Rob.
  12. Hi, As per the topic can it be done? I used to have a mk II vw scirocco gtx which had a similar comp as my vrs (don't have maxi dot :0( ) which would display oil temp... Trip, mpg etc. I only ask as the water temp needle seems to get to 90 c in 5 or so minutes.... Surely the engine oil wouldn't bet at 90 c. I'm only interested as my scirocco lived a very happy life mechanically (198k) when sold and I'm pretty sure letting the oil get up to temp before the obligatory thrash helped. Thanks, Rob.
  13. Hi, Mine's a 57 plate with the same... Can just get a finger down the right side, and nothing down the left. Rob
  14. Do it... It's an amazing engine! Absolutely love mine, the feel of the power when you're crusing, and the tone of the exhaust with a little load nice, and when it hits 4.5k rpm Woohoo! Rob
  15. Thanks for the heads up re fuel El Dingo. Will fill up on 98 ron next time and check the mpg. The performane on 95 ron keeps me grinning, feel so smug, a truely amazing engine.
