  6. its not a pound shop one its a mid range multimeter lol but i understand your point ( no offence taken ) the engine does run off just the crank sensor but it takes a while to start off just one sensor .... the wire from the fuse box shows a solid 5 volts whether running or with ignition on...... the signal wire does regester a volt reading of around 4.5 and the earth goes through the ecu also .... would it be acceptable to splice the wire or use a scotch lock to run a wire from the sensor earth to the battery to rule out the earth being bad even with it going through the ecu? or is there a different way of doing this or something i should do first?
  7. no signal from cam sensor ..... cannot seem to find wiring fault tried 2 sensors and 2 ecus .... one shows 5v with and without engine running the other shows around 4.5 and the earth seems to have good continuity
  8. thanks for the replies does anyone know what voltage should shown on a multimeter at the cam sensor plug? thanks sam
  9. Hello Does anyone have an engine wiring diagram that shows crank and cam sensors? Does anyone know what the 3 wires for these sensors are? are any of them a body earth? Thanks for any help Sam
  10. wanted fabia vrs ecu nearish to castleford 038 906 019 LA
  11. cannot find cam sensor intermittant loss of crank sensor - this causes cuttin out while stationary and on the move loss of power steering loss of abs lights on dash : traction control, eml , flashing glow plug light, traction control and abs it has been to a garage and plugged in and was told it was likely a wiring fault but possibly ecu . i have checked the wiring loom for any damage and traced the wires back from sensor to ecu with a multimeter on continuity and found no faults what so ever
  12. but what are the chances of 3 sensors all going faulty at the same time ?
  13. wiring has been traced back from plug to ecu and all seems ok a continuity test shows all plugs and connections are ok..... still cam and crank sensor faults
  14. Hello Is there anyway to test the ecu? How or who can program a different ecu to a car ? Thanks Sam
  15. its now showing no signal to cam sensor and intermittent crank sensor signals which cause it to cut out .... it seems shes slowly dying
  16. keep an eye out on ebay i got one with the wiring and carpet trim for 99p
  17. problems started overnight ..... car doesnt run lumpy but sometimes it takes alot of turning over to start and registers a fault code for cam sensor .... its had a new sensor and still no change 16725/P0341/000833 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Implausible Signal Possible SymptomsMalfunction Indicator Light (MIL) activePossible CausesWiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty Timing misaligned Possible SolutionsCheck Wiring from/to Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Check Timing
  18. having cam sensor problems and one of the possible causes on ross tech wiki is timing missaligned .... then it says check timing.... so wondered how to check timing
  19. did you ever sort this problem? mine has brought up same codes and similar symptoms
  20. Hello is there a way to check timing visually on a vrs tdi? thanks sam
  21. ive checked wiring around the plug and its had a new sensor. going to have to find time to uncover and check wiring to ecu
  22. Hello Can anyone tell me what this fault code (attached) is for it keeps popping up when the car is scanned? thanks sam
  23. this is the fault code it keeps bringing up
