  1. hey guys long time no post so don't know if this is in the right section. What it is, is that im after a kdv gearbox out of a fabia vrs, and was wondering if anybody new of one going at the right money?
  2. Id agree with that. just out of interest though if you rest your foot on the clutch pedal at idle can you feel ait pulseing / vibrating at all?
  3. 38k is quite a lot for one of these probs to occur. i work at perrys car sales in Donisthorpe fixing what ever comes through the door and we've had 08 plate vrs, golfs n a3 all with the same problem come through the door and 9 out of 10 need turbo replacement. majority of them at 40 - 50k on the clocks. normally its because the cars in question don't get opend up enough (short runs low revs all the time) that the vnt (Variable vane mechanism) gets jammed and seize up. its all down to the exhaust / turbo temperature not getting hot enough and the main egr (exhaust gas recirulation) feed pipe bolts on just above the turbo itself chuckin all its unburt sludge (oil + soot and fuel) staright back into the turbo to be reused. We use AR Turbo, Garret approved repaires for ours and they charge £195+ for a VNT Rebuild which is cheap or £530+ for a brand new unit both on a 2 day ish turn round after they collected via courier your old unit
  4. If i Remember correctly there is an additive avaliable from motor factors like ces that goes in the tank to lower burn off temps of diesel soot / emissions again used it at work n seemed to help. but its around £25 for a tiny bottle of the stuff
  5. Thanks for all the help guys. Turns out it was that spacer plate that sits between the sump and block. I just Cudn't see it for all the crap had to look a good few times b4 i managed to spot it n get it off with a lever bar. All this Aggro because the captive nut that the sump plug screws into has come away!!
  6. The sump is hanging with nothing attacted to at all, all bolts that are/was holding sump are off, 2 bolts that hold plate at bottom of gearbox are off, the sump is dropped down by about 5cm crankpull side, and about 1cm flywheel side, i can move it from side to side, up and down, you name all dircetions it be moved, the sump is being held by flywheel side, by the plate that goes all the way around the gearbox. it doesnt seem like it can be pulled out due to oil strainer stopping it, the guard to the strainer/pump is still on the engine block not the sump.
  7. asv far as i can see on my back as the sump has dropped all the way round just wont come out. think if i could get the flywheel plate off it would help, so ive taken the 2 nuts off it and slackend all gerabox bolts off but to no avail. it just seems wedged on the gearbox side
  8. the thing is though the sump has all ready dropped i just cant get the damn thing out. its almost as if there is somethin holding it around the gearbox side of things :S
  9. forgot to say this is a v common problem on the golfs and audi a3 as well as all use same turbo engines regardless of code
  10. unfortunately it is sounding like the variable vane part of the turbo seizing up. had 3 at work recently with the same problem and 1 over boosting when scanned. switchin off n on again resets ecu so can get going again. Sorry for the bad news Dave
  11. Hi All. I'm Having a bit of trouble with my R reg skoda felicia 1.9d. sumbody b4 i had it has overtightend the sump plug thus stripping the threds. I've tried all sorts but to no avail so now its sump off time. So ive undone all the sump bolts and the 2 nuts holding the flywheel guard in place but can't seem to get the sump or guard off at all. Any ideas would be much appreciated as would an answer as to weatheer im missing some thing obvious. Oh just to add ive even tried slackening off the gearbox bell housing bolts to see if that helps but once again no joy :(
