  1. Hi there so I am having some electrical issues which may or may not be related Car is 2013 Superb Estate 4x4 140bhp. Totally standard, about 150k miles The first problem is that the boot latch re-opens itself This happens every time we have been on the ferry (we travel to Ireland a lot to see aged in-laws) When we get in the car, the boot will just unlock itself. You can hear the motor/actuator whirr. It then takes multiple opening and closing of the boot to make it finally operate. Sometimes you can be back in and sat in the car and then it will just open again, others it will lock and immediately unlock. We have tried loads of different combinations, keys in ignition, keys out, lock car with key fob after closing boot, etc etc but cant work out why it eventaully locks properly On all but one occasion so far we have manged to get it to stay shut before we offload but it is just stressful enough as we have the dogs in the boot. I have wondered if this is to do with vibration on the ferry or the cancelling of the alarm (which we do when we leave car on ferry as otherwise dogs moving in boot can set it off), or possibly damp. I was thinking of changing the boot lock and/or actuator but then read here about wiring loom issues in the door and so am wondering about that. The second issue, which started about the same time but has just got worse and worse is the columbus unit becomes unresponsive and reboots every so often. This started out as just occasionally on long journeys but has now got to the stage of every ten minutes or so. I had wondered if it was overheating or similar but am also wondering if the two faults are connected. I have reset via the buttons and also in menu but it has made no odds. I was wondering about just replacing with a new chinese unit with android auto built in. Thank You
  2. Hiya Yes we have contacted skoda uk, but they say there is little they can do but liase with Hortons (which they have been doing), we have been talking directly to Oliver Horton on and off throughout the process. We have now also contacted motor codes. We have asked for engineers reports, assessors reports etc, but none have as yet been forthcoming and so we dont really know what work has been done or how extensive the damage was. The idea of sticking photos on the internet etc. wasn't really the route I wanted to go down, but after seven months and when it came back last week exactly the same to my untrained eye as when we dropped it off....... Vehicle is seven years old and yes I was surprised it wasn't a write off too.
  3. Well after several years and three cars being serviced and bought from Dennis Horton (We've had three consecutive Skoda two purchased from Hortons and three serviced there) I am afraid we will have to part company under bad circumstances On May 2nd 2015 they damaged our car in the workshop. It took them until late July to get the car back to us. Even then the roof gutters no longer fitted in the car We have just had it back in for the gutters to be fixed, came back no different. It seems if things go wrong they can't put them right :( https://www.facebook.com/chris.robinson.1840070/posts/10153739397999709?pnref=story
