  1. Hi Mike, I recently got a 2008 Fabia 3 1.9 TDI and am loving it. It's the same spec as hardcorehobbit mentioned, although I have heated seats too. Mine has many, many more miles than the one you're looking at (160k), but the service history was 110% and was 1 owner from new, so I went for it. I previously had a Fabia 1 VRS so I know the PD engines are bulletproof. It still feels like a new car and hardly has any rattles to speak of. Most of the noise comes from the crap I've shoehorned into the lower glovebox! I'll be remapping mine soon, should be up to around 140-150 according to the mapper himself. The standard Dance radio is OK at best. The radio reception on mine wasn't great, adequate, but not amazing. I swapped it for an aftermarket pure Android based car pc stereo thing from China and the radio's been fine since, although I am using an aerial booster. The front door speakers caused a hell of a lot of rattling of the front door cards which was annoying for a few days after purchase, but I've since had time to fit my little subwoofer in the boot so I turned the bass down on my headunit and all sounds great now the sub's handling the lower frequencies. It's a good little car so I'd go for it if I were you.
  2. You had a good deal there. I recently paid £270 just for 4 white Gigaro wheels for my car. Mine will be going on a black Fabia too, although mine's not a vrs.
  3. Estate Man, I didn't clean the intake manifold but managed to clean out all of the sludge from the opening. If I'm honest I didn't think the build up would be quite so heavy and hadn't thought about picking up an intake manifold gasket and some Mr Muscle. This will be a job for another day soon. I'm considering putting an EGR blanking plate on the bottom of the EGR and getting it 'mapped out' when I get the car re-mapped, but wondering if I'll be leaving huge clouds of black smoke everywhere I go? In other news, the black sludge is slowly starting to disappear from under my fingernails. My girlfriend is looking at me like I've never washed haha.
  4. Spent a couple of hours earlier today removing and cleaning the EGR on my 1.9 PD as it's a high-miler and could see some build up on the butterfly valve when I took the intake pipe off to take a peek. Sweet jeebus! There was quite a build up! Turned out to be one hell of a dirty job and used a whole can of carb cleaner, 2 large kitchen rolls and a pack of 3 toothbrushes! I'm amazed an EGR clean was never part of the Skoda service schedule, that amount of build up can't be good for an engine's breathing. Also, I wonder if my hands will ever be clean again?!
  5. Yeah Jim, the Mk1 VRS was a fantastic car for me. Took mine round the Nurburgring a good few times and loved every second of it. The plan is to give me something similar in a more modern car. Brimma, I've not even considered DRLs yet, will look to that when I eventually look at plonking the facelift bits on. My bank account is only just recovering after buying the car and all of the bits listed above so it will be a few months yet.
  6. Sparkly, I could indeed be interested. I have Eibach springs that were acquired cheaply. Let me know when you get round to removing them. Haha Furbytom, I'm definitely fitting VRS badges as I know people will flame me when they see the pics when it's done. It'll make me chuckle knowing I've wound them up. My gypo homage to the VRS won't be complete without VRS badges. I've so far managed to get everything - car, rims, spoiler, diffuser, springs, etc. for about £2.5k all in, so I'm doing well with my Aldi inspired VRS so far.
  7. Thanks for the reply, Jim. Looks like it'll be a pain to do then, but not impossible! I'll just stick with the planned front end for now then, and look to start buying genuine VRS front end bits sometime next year. Once I start waving the mdf and no more nails at the car everything will fit on no problem! Mikejay, there's nothing to see at present, it's just a basic black Fabia 3 that any old grandad would normally drive at the moment (including ridiculously high suspension and awful mudflaps!), the piles of bits are still in my garage awaiting fitment. I'll probably do some sort of 'build' thread at some point, just to add some pics. If anyone else can weigh in with tips it would be much appreciated.
  8. Hi all, Recently bought a black 57 plate Fabia 3 1.9 TDI for a cheap price as I missed the TDI punch. I had a mk1 Fabia VRS a few years back and loved it but was forced to sell it due to financial reasons. In an ideal world I would've got a new VRS but I prefer TDI, and, more importantly, I have nowhere near enough money to get a real VRS! Once I remap the 1.9 TDI it will have a very respectable turn of speed so I can probably get away with my fakery to the uninformed! Anyway, I have purchased loads of stuff to make my Furby into a genuine* VRS - Lowering springs, genuine Gigaro alloys, genuine Skoda rear diffuser, genuine Skoda VRS rear spoiler, tailpipe trims, tinting film etc. etc. etc. Oh, and I'm going to fit VRS grille and boot badges. For the front end I'm going to fit a Superskoda front splitter, use some black vinyl to create a slight eyebrow to lower the line of the headlights and possibly use some light headlight tint film to darken the lenses a touch. This part will look aggressive but will obviously differ from a real VRS... And this is where my questions are targeted. So, whilst I will have an overall 'VRS look', the front end won't look 100%. Initially the Superskoda splitter and the other bits mentioned above will suffice, but I'd like to get a genuine front end on it at some point in the future, just for authenticity. Will the facelift VRS front bumper fit the pre-facelift car? Will the newer headlights fit in the pre-facelift mounting points? I assume the bonnets are the same fitment at the rear so the bonnet replacement is straightforward enough to suit the new lights and bumper? Are the wings the same from 2007 to current models - I have looked online for wings and they seem to have the same part number for all Fabia mk2 models? If anyone can answer my questions I'd be really grateful. Cheers, Nick
  9. Recently got myself a Fabia 3 TDI (2008) and have bought a load of VRS kit for it (Gigaro wheels, hatch spoiler, diffuser, lowering springs and a superskoda front splitter (as the genuine vrs is facelifted)). I thought that would be enough to satisfy me but I sooooo need to do this puddle light mod! What an excellent guide. Will get mine done soon Thank you, 32KOFDATA.
  10. Hi Jambro, I'm after the plastic plug connector that attaches to the vacuum solenoid block on top of the o/s strut mount. The one with all the vacuum pipes on it. It has part number 6Q0 131 075 on it. I don't need the vacuum pipes or the solenoid block, just the plastic connector. If it's available and all 6 lugs are intact (one of mine has snapped, hence needing the part), how much would you want for it posted to Newport? Cheers, Nick
  11. Sorry for the thread resurrection... I'm picking up my Fabia 3 on Saturday and have an Android double din ready to fit. There are two can bus cables, one tx, one rx. Which one goes to can bus high and which one to low as pointed out in the above diagram? If anyone can help I will send you awesomeness vibes and add you to my Christmas card list. Cheers, Nick
  12. Cheers guys, as I'll be selling on here I better get paying for Freedom so I can advertise. Think I'll also put her on Pistonheads, finally followed by the dreaded bay of doom if no joy! Thanks for your pointers both, I'll have a bit more of a look around then whack her on sale, if anyone is interested let me know. Cheers, Nick
  13. Will do, not sure what she's worth tbh, it's difficult gauging it's value when everything else I'm comparing it to (on autotrader etc.) is standard... Just hoping someone has a better idea than myself to point me in the right direction really.
  14. Just wondering if anyone can advise me what my car may be worth? Thinking of selling to get an oldskool VW Caddy pickup of some description but unsure what my car may be worth... 54 reg Fabia vRS (facelift with newer rear lights as standard), Eibachs, Revo, Sachs paddle clutch, lightweight Porsche Design 90 alloys and adapters, Eagle F1 rubber, Jabba RARB, BMC CDA (still have standard airbox), PD160 intake, 22k miles, FSH, retrofit aero wipers, dension ipod adapter, infinity subwoofer, debadged grille (still have standard grille) all in excellent condition and loved like my own child. Can't think of anything else right now. If anyone has an idea that'd be great. I love my Furby but an oldskool caddy really is where I wanna be, the oh-so-sexy caddies at UD last weekend confirmed it for me. EDit, just remembered, it's got a Seat front splitter and I also have a 312mm brake kit not yet fitted...
  15. Roll up roll up folks, one of the guys from our local club (newportedition.com) has quite possibly the best item ever up for grabs! Ultimate Dubs visitors may want it for their collection - it's not ebay rare, it actually is rare! lol Rare Flag on eBay, also Decals, Exterior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 21-Mar-08 18:24:41 GMT)
  16. I have a Revo and my clutch was replaced for a sachs paddle item not long after it was remapped due to slippage (14k miles). Fair enough you can change your driving style if you wish, but I couldn't be arsed!
  17. I wonder if they'll start advertising it as a VW, Audi, Seat AND SKODA show next year...?
  18. My name's Nick btw. Good to meet you guys today Was a good show
  19. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but Dension recently released new firmware for ice>link plus products that allows the newer ipods to function properly. Just thought I'd let people know in case they weren't aware! Result!
  20. @ Decron - Lol, I found out by spending almost a week's wages though! Doh! @ dcackers - no probs! However, if you change your mind I have a beautifully made (and it really is, just a shame it's pointless) Forge diesel dump valve kit for sale! Some idiot on ebay will buy it when I can be bothered to stick it on there lol.
  21. I was an idiot and bought one for the sound. I still like the sound but the car was noticably slower with it on. Utter rubbish, don't bother.
  22. Mine bumps and bangs from the rear of the car every now and then over speedbumps, it passed the mot and nothing was highlighted during 2 services, even when I specifically asked about it... So I just turn the stereo up!
