  1. It's a dead easy bit of painting if you have the bottle to fettle your one and only chrome effect grill. I did mine fairly easily and found that the best colour match was the diamond black VW paint rather than the Black magic pearl. Even with lacquer, it still looked lighter when put onto plastic.
  2. It was the milotec bits i was going to fit actually....should look OK as it's already black......can't warrant spending cash after the car was just mangled by some F%*kwit in a Rover and smashing me into another guy in an Alfa.....so just having it back in one piece is a bonus. Where do u get the Swissol by way ?? needs some TLC after the repair !!!
  3. Hi Col, Never got around to fitting it......cleaned it and re-oiled it for you as per manufacturers instructions !!!! Still sitting in my cupboard waiting to go somewhere !!
  4. HAs anyone fitted the arch extensions to their Octy ?? If so do they look good or a pile of s**te ?? Colour coded black grill but just deciding whether I should do these as well. All opinions greatly received !!
  5. God you lot talk a load of old b***ocks don't you ?? :detective For a start, the standard Octy vRS is a nice motor with some nice turbo'd grunt. However, if the Fabia owners like losing that power quickly in the diesel and still enjoy driving them then fair play to them. I was pretty impressed with the Furbies at the Wales meet myself, they were either driven by some very good drivers (unlikely chaps.....none of us are Michael Schumacher) or the cars actually pick up well. My Octy has nearly 220bhp and without a great run at them on normal roads, they kept the pace well. However, the Octavia is currently rated as the BEST VAG product on the road, with the possible exception of the Golf R32 which is a completely different car. The fabia hasn't (and I'm not sure why as I quite like it) got the kind of recognition that it has from the loyal owners on here. I will say this though, Skoda ought to stick the 2.5TDi in the Fab if they want a proper hot hatch..............and so we still have a proper high powered Skud, do what all the other VAG companies are doing and stick the R32 VR6 24v in the Octavia. Then everyone will be happy and we can all sing in harmony again...........instead of sounding like a S*ite boy band which is what we do now. Rich :smileyrai
  6. Like to add my thanks to Colin for arranging the meet......the roads were truly awesome and the Fabias certainly surprised me. Nice to see such a nice spirit present all day, good banter and even the ladies in the passenger seats seemed to enjoy it with the boys and their toys...........Mrs B certainly did, even if I did try and kill her trying to keep up with Colin and Paul early on. REB
  7. IMHO All of them look furkin gorgeous but........... Silver (for conformists only) Black (the best there is ............except when its dirty like 264 days of year) Red (Red cars are about aggression apparently !!) and finally Yellow (for people completely at peace with themselves. "Yes I've got a Skoda, Yes it's fast.....do you want a f**king smack or what ??" We are all cool.............and all BMW drivers are tools, without exception. Rich
  8. LIST Jason (Devonutopia) Matt (Fabiatdi) Col G (Neo_VR) Faye (Faye) Jane (JaneC) - maybe Andy (Spinndrift) Mike (KLB) Paul (ffelan) Ian (Tavia4x4) Colin (ColinD) Pete (mellowyellow) Nick(ncarring) Phil (Clarey) Huck (er, Huck) Xavier (tfboy) Rich (Richie the Red) SHould be a glorious sight !!
  9. Anyone fancy getting together over Xmas and doing a convoy somewhere in the NW or the lakes / North Yorks ?? Any takers ?? Go on, you know you want to !! Besides it gives some of us newbies a chance to meet everyone. Answers on a postcard.... Rich :drive1:
  10. Anytime you want a blat down the '53 mate, you give me a shout.....I work on the Wirral. That 330ci got a shock tonight I'll tell you...... Have it fettled and watch how fast that needle goes round hahaha !! Rich :drive1:
  11. Check out www.sniffpetrol.com Generally good for a laugh
  12. As far as I was aware, the police are not allowed to place standard speed cameras of any kind on a Motorway except where a temporary speed restriction is in place (ie. Roadworks) where I think they are a damn good idea as the traffic seems to at least flow now Also, they are required by law to place a clear indication of a speed camera within 600 metres of each camera. Causing drivers to brake suddenly on a Motorway doesn't sound like the best idea to me................screech, bang, "wasn't my fault officer, muppet in front broke from 79mph to 40mph suddenly for no apparent reason !!!" They cut the number of accidents you know..........especially on long A-roads where they are placed on the downhill stretches of particularly straight roads......which just happen to be the scenes of "Many" previous accidents. Has anyone ever challenged plod to produce the accident figures for their supposed "accident blackspots" ? or what "plowing the money back into road safety schemes" they are actually doing.......apart from better pursuit cars and more cameras ? Before long the buggers will be chasing us in Enzos !! REB
  13. Cheers for the advice guys.........it is an APR remap on the cruise control. The only prob I have with it at mo is that I continually light up front tires as I'm trying to come to terms with all that torque.........a little diff from the VR6. And yer right about the Corrado, without a doubt the most all round car I have ever driven........the Skud has a lot to live up to. So much better than the Golfs as it had a 2.9 on that old mark 2 Golf chassis.
  14. As they say around my neck of the woods...........Ta La
