  1. Hi everybody,Just a simple question really. I have a VW Polo 1.2 70(HTP) and I have been wondering whether to use Shells V-Power petrol,to see if it would give the engine any tangible benefits. Is it worth it, given the type of engine I have,or is it going to be an expensive waste of time/resources.Cheers!
  2. Thanks everybody for your responses-almost all positive! I think the consensus appears to be that, yes, the HTP does have it's limitations, mostly to do with power, but stay within it's obvious parameters, and it'll serve you well, even to the point of long distance touring. Going forward,as a possible long-term keeper,I hope that the relatively simple engine will repay loyalty, and a relaxed driving style, with a hopefully robust and almost trouble-free running record
  3. Hi guys, been an owner of a VW polo mk 8 for about 8 months now,and am pretty pretty pleased with it,particularly the sweet,Skoda-developed 1.2 HTP (70ps) motor.I suppose TSI technology is the way forward nowadays, but the idea of the HTP's comparatively simplicity and character which really appeals to me.What I really want to ask is what is long-term ownership of the HTP like? Would it cope with a long motoring tour of Europe? What weaknesses (and strengths) do I need to look out for and is there still a place for the HTP in the modern motoring world?
  4. Hi,everybody,Just to introduce myself,I'm an owner of a mk 8 polo 1.2s 70ps.I have been following things in Briskoda for a while, and I have been impressed with the site generally-mature,informative,but still fun. What I want to say is that i am well impressed with the sweet(Skoda)engine in my motor, with it's free-revving and peppy nature.OK,it's no TSI,but it's fun and the sound always makes me smile!Anyway, what I wanted to ask was are there any other enthusiasts of this great little engine?-Cheers.
