  1. Thanks mate. I've ordered the AP kit so I'll see how they are when I fit them at the weekend.
  2. I've had prosport coilovers on my Octy VRS for few years now, and tbh i've not been impressed with them overall. They are now completely shot and need replacing. I was initially going for the FK coilovers but the place I ordered them from have now emailed me stating they are out of stock and offering me either the JOM Blueline or Prosport as a replacement, which I have no interest in what so ever. I did initially look at the AP coilovers, but was put off by the fact they only drop to 50mm. I like the way my car currently sits ride height / looks wise, but wanted to raise it slightly for general use to make it more practical, but like the option of being able to go low again for shows. So my question is: How the the AP's look when they are on in real terms? I'd be interested to see some pics off anyone has them as i'm a little stuck at the moment. I had ordered some other bits to go along with the FK's to do a bit of a suspension refresh, and to be now told they don't have them has landed me in it somewhat. Any advice or suggestions for possible alternatives would be appreciated.
  3. +1 for Snapmad. Really good prices in comparison to elswhere and both the print quality and frame quality is good too. Turn around is about a week though.
  4. I'd be interested in this. Do you have any idea how much postage would be? Cheers
  5. What suspension is on it and is it available?
  6. It should work perfectly fine connected to the to of the recirc valve. That's where mine is and its never missed a beat. Check all connections. Also check that the T piece you have isnt meant to be a certain way round as that can cause issues. Failing that, faulty gauge maybe?
  7. What colour are you after? I have a black one that I may part with if the price is right.
  8. Will try and pop one up in the next couple of days m8.
  9. Yes, there's a centre silencer aswell. Its each to there own I suppose but I like the way mine sounds.
  10. I did this with mine. Was short on cash when mine fell apart. Found a local stainless exhaust company to remove rear silencer and replace with 2.5" stainless pipe with a tailpipe welded on. Doesn't sound terrible at all, in fact just the opposite.
  11. This looks soooo nice. What wheels are they and what size?
  12. Thought i'd share a couple of mine again this year Octy Full Shot by Darren Fitzjohn, on Flickr _MG_0986 by Darren Fitzjohn, on Flickr
  13. Wow, really wish i had the cash for these. Good luck with the sale. Whoever buys is going to be very lucky.
  14. After 7 years of use I would suggest that the shocks would be well and truly shot and therefore not an economical refurb. Would deffo buy new in your situation.
  15. Had mine 3 years and 4 months. My previous car was an old Rover which I had originally bought just to get me through a winter or two after going without a car for a while. I was in the market for something reaonable again and a friend of mine had the Octy VRS for sale. He wasn't majorly keen on selling, but already had 4 other vehicles on his drive and something had to give. He'd owned it for 7 years with no expense spared. It had a few subtle mods, different front grill, stage one remap with supporting mods etc and had an extensive service history. He agreed to sell to me for £1700, which at the time was a pretty good price. 3 years, 4 months on, she's still in my ownership, with further mods etc. All in all its been a great car. Yes she's had a bit spent on her, some needed, some not but all the needed work has just been wear and tear items really. There will come a time when it will be time to move on, but at the moment he still puts a smile on my face when I get in and drive away which is all I ask. Couple that with the fact that she's pretty reliable and can return 40+ to the gallon and tbh I would be hard pushed to find another car that wold do the same.
  16. Im running a mk1 Octy VRS on prosports wound down to around 10mm off the max. Im currently running et35 8j 18" rims with 225/45/18 tyres. have 10mm spacers on the front and it clears the spring platform with no rubbing although it is pretty close. With a 205/40/18 you should be well clear. Cheers
  17. Did a shoot on Friday night with a few other folk local to me and thought i'd share a shot of mine I took. Bit of experimenting really but like the results. Octy Full Shot by Darren Fitzjohn, on Flickr
  18. Seemed to have lost some of the low end torque and slightly rough idle at times. Otherwise runs fine.
  19. The last few times ive tried TPS for parts they have quoted me the same prices as my local dealer. I had wondered why, but now I know.
  20. IVe noticed for a couple of weeks now that I have been hearing a sound like my exhaust is blowing. I did take a look at the exhaust system myself and found no leaks and even took it into a local exhaust centre and they too could find nothing. I noticed that I could mainly hear it under load from the front end (especially when pulling off) so started to think it was either one of the gaskets at the front end of the system or something more sinister. Anyway, decided to get under the car properly this morning to take a look and low and behold a lovely, dirty big crack on the underside of the manifold. So it looks like new manifold time. I read that this is quite common and so my thoughts are what other options are available at reasonable prices and is it worth bothering at all with after market? Pic below:
  21. I got invited to shoot with a couple of cars on Saturday evening so thought why not. This is not the sort of stuff I normally do but have fancied having a go for some time. Anyways, see what you think. Mini 2 by Darren Fitzjohn, on Flickr BMW by Darren Fitzjohn, on Flickr
  22. Turned out to be a dodgy coilpack in the end. Replaced this and the issue went away.
