  1. I've got an 02 4x4 estate- had it for 4 years and the only problems have been 1 lot of coils, then the enormous sting for the cambelt/water pump (£690!!!) Otherwise it handles well for a biggish motor, and the only strange thing I've noticed with the drive is traction control gets confused turning down steep hills in 3rd... Now I automatically turn it off on those type of hills! Fuel wise, I get anywhere between 25 and 40mpg, though pootling along on a 30 mile country run t'other day (stuck in a long queue behind a Rover 214) I got 44! It works quite well in up to 4"thick snow as well (though not as well as my Defender...) And my dogs still haven't managed to scratch up the boot - decently hard wearing.
  2. £350 seems a lot for a 40k service as well... My 4x4 recently had the 40k including Haldex oil change etc and it was just over £200 at Panda in Swansea.
  3. My Octy 4x4 has developed a fault since the coils failed... Basically the mpg/trip/av. speed computer won't reset - does anyone know how to do this? Pressing the reset button makes no difference. And is the Revo remap worth having? They're my nearest tuners and are
  4. In that case I may go for it - especially as fuel economy is only at about the 31mpg level anyway (best ever trip was 42.5...) But are there any decent tuners nearer to Shropshire? BTW, any problems doing the remap at higher mileages? Mine's just had the 40k service complete with expensive Haldex oil n'all..
  5. Newbie alert... Anyway, as a long time Skoda fan (I even had an Estelle!) I've now got an '02 1.8T 4wd Octavia Estate, and I'm very happy with it. However, as a biker as well, I want a bit more speed, and understand that the best single upgrade is to get Jabbasport to do a remap. So the question is, does it compromise reliability in any way? Frinstance, does the gearbox/clutch cope easily with the extra power? Will it still pass MoTs? Will I actually notice the difference? Also, is it worth me going all the way to Peterborough (I live in the Welsh Borders), or is there a much closer option that's worthwhile? Thanks!
  6. I bought my '02 4x4 estate from Simpsons of Colne as well - I paid over the phone not even having seen the car and they delivered it 2 days later! And it's almost the dog's... All i need is to get it chipped - any suggestions for a tuner near South Shropshire?
