  1. Bear in mind that quoted MPGs are laboratory figures which have been widely condemned for their unachievability , so you will be getting a 5% Fantasy Saving
  2. Just had my 4 year old 30,000 mile VRS serviced, it's on the annual service regime. Major service including pollen filter, & spark plugs (as 4 years old ) £259 Skoda fixed price Brake fluid replaced £45 2nd MOT £39
  3. I commute on the motorways, & find the mpg drops off above 75 mph, due to the brick link aerodynamics
  4. Cheers Jonro2009 for the detailed pics, always help especially where to mount the ballasts!
  5. Do any of these tyres come with rim protection? like the Dunlops ,which have saved my lacquer a couple of times
  6. Just a personal choice thing, I won't use Santander
  7. Argh! Choices, choices , choices! The car is approaching 22k they are 2+mm on the front, & 7mm on the rear My VRS came with Dunlop Sport Maxxs from new & I always thought they were noisy ,especially on concrete motorways Having read a few tyre reviews, these tyres always come out quietest at 67db , so it must be due to the lack of sound deadening material fitted under the VRS carpets! I've usually fitted Contis or Michelins to my previous cars, but with 70db being twice as loud as 67db, I'm loathed to make the cabin any louder! Any thoughts welcome!
  8. I'm only in Light water, but mines un-modified
  9. Dealer said my Ex-Demo ran on 95ron when it was theirs when I took it back for its 1st service, Decided to run for a year myself on 95ron, 39mpg average with no issues! since the 2nd annual service I've used Tesco Momentum 99ron, 40.5 mpg average over 7000miles. Any differences? Not really. Maybe a little nicer to drive when cold in the winter! The Shell garage at Egham (jnc13 M25) does 102ron, but then it is across the road from the Main Ferrari & Maserati dealership If you have a Tesco MasterCard ,only use that at their garages as you get 1 points/£1(58points/tankful), whereas the regular clubcard is only 1 point/£2 (29 points/tankful)
  10. Hi Slider, I've been looking getting this too! Could you post an update in a month or so ,just to let us know what it like to live with Cheers
  11. Running a 61 plate VRS with black lamps. Last year I upgraded to the Phillips X treme vision bulbs as they won reviews based on quality of beam throw & pattern. Tweaked the lamps up a notch, having lined them up against the garage door . Much better than before . No issues with the beam being cut by the projector , but then I've been driving with these style of headlamps for 12 years :-)
  12. +1 On the Fiesta ST, with the Mountune bhp upgrade.Or an aluminum Jaag XKR on a 56 plate, if you like it Supercharged!
  13. Yep me too! my 5 year old iPod, connected to my 2 year old VRs usually heads back to track 1 Guessed it was to do with the iPod discharging when the car is parked for a few days
  14. Is no one else worried about bodies being transported from France? :wonder:
  15. Mine came with a spare, and Dad has just ordered an A1, options +1 on the spare wheel
  16. Defiantly ran it with zero miles remaining, then put 50 litres in
  17. If I understand you, the Pirelli tyres have a larger diameter & circumference than the Dunlops for the same given size? That would help explain why your mpg would appear to have dropped for the same given journey, ( less mileage being recorded per journey )
  18. Bought one of these last month, didn't t keep the receipt . Cost £6.25 delivered. Spoke to dealer over the phone, quoting reg, & that it was one of the large bungs. Re part # , dealer says Skoda always have 18 digits ( or more)
  19. Guess you've not got a VRS if you're looking to buy some 2012MY VRS headlamps? These are fitted to mine but I still had to improve the lamps by fitting a pair of Phillips Extreme bulbs,& adjusting them skywards 1/2 a turn (see other threads). Ideally,I will probably upgrade to HIDs once out of warranty ,as I did on my previous car!
  20. I agree, upto 4500 rpm I.e. normal daily commuting range, negligible gains. If your going to talk about the upper end gains ,don't bother to mention economy though! :-) With 180bhp roller skate ,if I drop 10bhp, I doubt I'm going fret going nowhere on the M25 this evening
