  1. Yup (I’m the guy on the review video who’s unearthed a very old Briskoda account). It’s a case of hitting the driver assist button on the wheel then clicking the right-hand silver scroll wheel in. You have to do this each ignition cycle tho - same as on the current Octavia vRS.
  2. I'm afraid I don't know! I just do the wurds
  3. 26 and 12 plate vRS hatch (petrol) as my first car. It's a company car. I'm getting the diesel estate in October to compare.
  4. I don't think ASG is available on any of the cars (up!, Mii or Citigo) until a bit later in the year - it's not just Citigo specific. I may have written that bulletin
  5. Thanks for the advice! I'll see what's available, but my reasons for wanting a manual gearbox is just to get back into the swing of driving and remembering how to do it all. Possibly a bit masochistic, but hey!
  6. I'm not sure I'll be allowed to go dogging in the company car… Thanks for the help everyone!
  7. The only thing I'm paying for is the fuel (and a modicum of CC tax) - and doing 120 miles a day in a Superb V6 won't enamour me to my bank manager! Thanks for the advice though, it sounds like I don't have anything to worry about. I just hope they can get me one in a decent colour Good guess at the workplace too
  8. Hi everyone. I've just accepted a job that will allow me to pick any car from the Skoda range as a company car. I live in East London and will be commuting to Milton Keynes every day - this is a 120 mile round trip. I was initially looking at Yetis as something about them appeals to me, but I have always had a soft sport for a sporty Octavia. I'd obviously want a diesel as I'm going to be doing the equivalent of 36000 miles a year, but it looks like the 170ps cr engine gets around 50-55mpg on a motorway cruise in the Octavia as opposed to 43-45mpg in the brick-like Yeti. I get to put my car choices in on Monday. I'm thinking of putting the Octavia VRS cr at the top of the list… and I want to know if you think that's wise? What sort of mpg do you folks tend to get on long motorway treks? I'm going to nip into a dealer at the weekend to see if I'm comfortable in one, but do you know of any 6'3" tall people who have had comfort issues in them? It's going to be my first car (living in London means I've never needed one until now), so I'm going to have to remember how to drive, but I'm hoping 3 years of riding ridiculous motorbikes will mean I'm not going to be a complete liability! Thanks for your help - now convince me it's a good idea! (Also, it's worth pointing out that I get to change the car every 8000 miles or 6 months, so long-term reliability shouldn't be an issue.)
  9. I have to get a new car every 8000 miles or after 6 months, so I won't get that benefit! Not sure whether to be peeved or not…
  10. That's true! I think I want to get a manual as it'll be my first car and I really want to get into the habit of driving a manual rather than forgetting how to do it all. Well that and I worry I'll pretend I'm on my Xbox and then find myself driving like a twerp… What sort of mpg could I expect from the 170cr on an almost entirely motorway commute? I'll be going from East London to Milton Keynes each day, so M25, M1…
  11. Thanks for your help everyone! I'm hoping I'll be allowed to tick all the boxes on the spec sheet! Is there anything worth leaving off? I'm hoping as a first car it should be quite pleasant and entertaining, with good visibility for my first parallel parking efforts
  12. Thanks for your help! The new workplace has told me that as they change cars so frequently they have a dealing with the tax office which ensures we only pay a flat rate for company car tax… so it's not a concern at the moment. I presume it's legal, it's quite a large employer!
  13. Hi everyone - I'm new here! I'm Tim and I think I'd like a Yeti. I've just landed a nice new job that lets me choose any Skoda as a company car. I live in London and haven't had a car before - I've never needed one and I've been a fairly committed biker for three years. I'll be doing fairly huge mileage - about 130 miles a day. I'm fairly keen to get a Yeti because I want something that'll be fun and practical (well, compared to a Triumph Speed Triple most things are practical…), and I remember Evo magazine saying how fun Yetis are in the handling department. Naturally, given that my company car budget will let me have pretty much any Skoda, I'm looking at the 170ps diesel 4x4. Is it true that it gives better mpg than the 140ps version? I'm basically balancing my need to get fairly decent mpg with the allowance letting me have the top-of-the-range models. Would you be happy trundling along in a Greenline when you could have the 170ps diesel? I know it's the vaguest of questions, but I'm just considering the fact that I will hopefully work out a route to work that takes in some nice back roads - I'd like to be able to overtake without a 2 mile run up! What would you get?
