  1. Not sure what happened to my post. I typed simply "I'm interested"
  2. I bought my Octavia vRS hatchback (Petrol, Race Blue) from Marlborough in Isleworth and collected it on 1st. June, 2012. I paid up front for the first two annual services which were carried out efficiently and courteously. The car came fault free and has stayed that way so no warranty fixes have been needed. I contacted Marlborough today to arrange an annual service before the warranty period expires on 31st. May, 2015 only to find that the business has closed down. I have been very happy with both sales and service departments of this company and am sorry to see them go. Does anyone have any more information?

  4. I have a 2012 Octavia hatch vRS DSG petrol. The in car entertainment is a Bolero. When choosing options I did not choose the Bluetooth option for the Bolero as it was a whopping £400 . Thus the "Phone" button is inactive. I am now looking at options allowing me to legally use my mobile (an HTC One) on the move. Does anyone know whether or not it is possible to retro fit Bluetooth to the Bolero, it occurs to me that it may be a standard feature which can be activated post delivery. The HTC One has Bluetooth as standard. I'd be interested to learn how others have solved the problem of legally using a mobile on the move especially if they have been able to employ the Bolero.
  5. I had a similar problem on a Vauxhall Omega Elite. I thought I had a problem with the auto gearbox. However, eventually I had a problem whereby the engine was only developing about one quarter power and this transpired to be a fault in the HT leads to the plugs. Cost over £100 for the new wiring (ouch) but subsequently the "gearbox problem" had gone completely. Could your problem be the HT wiring?
  6. I have an Octavia hatchback vRS which was delivered in June this year. It has the 200PS petrol engine. Current mileage is just under 5,000. A couple of times I have noticed when accelerating briskly from rest or low speed that I get a degree of wheel tramp. Very recently I attempted to accelerate through a gap in traffic from about 7mph using about three quarter throttle and experinced really violent and very noisy wheel tramp. Is this simply due to a lot of torque being delivered to the front wheels or is there possibly something wrong with the front suspension or traction control. I would appreciate comments from owners of the same or similar model, has anyone experienced this problem. Thanks for any help you can give.
  7. I picked up a new Octy hatchback petrol vRS (DSG) on 1st. June and I love it. Like many people I have a garage which is just 8ft. wide and with great care I can just get the Octy in. I need to fold in the n/s mirror (why the hell aren't electrically folding ones an option) and the brick buttress where the driver's door opens I've fitted with protective padding. I'm glad I have the current model. I'm less than impressed with the Rapid, seems to have been built down to a price and the rear suspension is a backwards step c.f. the Octavia. The coming new Octavia is larger than the current one and if that means wider I doubt I could garage it. If I were you I would take advantage of the excellent deals available on the current model. Garaging may well be no problem for you and the foregoing of no consequence but I doubt you would be disappointed with the current model. Also with a sizeable discount on the current car I would expect the depreciation over the first two or three years to be less than the new model.
  8. Did the Stelvio in August plus several other passes includung the Furka in Switzerland which rivals the Stelvio - fantastic. We started with the Dover-Calais ferry, lunch at Bruges and an overnight stay at Aachen. On to St. Anton in Austria where my wife and I have skied many times. Then through Switzerland to Italy for the Stelvio and back via the Furka and an overnight stay in Leichtenstein . Finally it was up through Germany again, often cruising around 120mph, and home vis Belgium and France. Seven different countries (excludung the UK). Despite much heavy footed driving we averaged 32mpg for the trip. One minor correction, the Stelvio is entirely in Italy and is not far from Switzerland but quite some way from Austria. The car, a 3 month old Octavia Hatchback vRS DSG (200PS petrol) in Race Blue. The only new car I have ever collected without a single delivery fault and it hasn't missed a beat.
  9. The more info link says it was done via the BCM coding. Excuse my ignorance but what is the BCM and does anyone know by what means its coding can be changed?
  10. Sorry about the small font size, tried to modify it after I typed half of it but couldn't get it to hold the change.
  11. skodanorman, Thanks for your response. I seem to recall I read somewhere on these forums that on the Facelifted version of the Octy vRS if you set on both rear fogs you trigger a warning light! If I can find someone with VCDS near me it would be worth a try though. I live in Roehampton which is London SW15. The electrically folding mirrors are standard on the Octy Laurin & Klement so why not as an option on other models. My wife and I share two cars. The other (sometimes shared by my daughter) is a 1999 Mk. 4 Golf 1.6 SE manual which we have had from new. Not what I would regard as a "posh" car but the bonnet is supported by a neat gas strut in roughly the same position as the Octy's manual one. The Skoda replaced a 1995 Vauxhall Omega, not exactly posh either. The vRS is a bit faster than the 3 litre Omega auto and uses about a third less petrol as best as i can judge. Wife and daughter totally approve of my choice of new car
  12. On 1st. June, 2012 I picked up my new Race Blue Octavia vRS Hatchback DSG (petrol). Now after three weeks Ii have 1500 miles on the clock and can enjoy the delighful performance. A couple of minor points disappoint. My dealer (Marlborough Skoda) tried to modify the car so that both rear foglights come on but Skoda HQ advised that it can't be done! Why on earth isn't standard, I, like many people in the UK, often drive on the continent. Makes about as much sense as not making electric folding door mirrors an available option on the vRS (my garage is narrow and I have to fold the N/S mirror). The one that really gets me though is the bonnet stay. Not since the 1970's have I had to use a manual prop to hold open the bonnet! Has anyone had an Octavia modified by fitting a gas strut or some other convenient way of holding open the bonnet? If so I'd love to know the details please. Our other car is a 1999 Mk.4 Golf 1.6 which has a super single gas strut which can't weigh an extra few grams more than a manual strut. Enough of the gripes, I love the car, love the colour, love the performance and so does all the family.
  13. Many thanks George. I'm getting an Octy vRS with a petrol engine and DSG so presumably I won't be bothered by DMF problems.
