The dash on our Octavia has just "died". My brother who is using it at the moment reports that all the instruments just stopped, he saw a brief flicker but now nothing. Sounds like something has come unplugged so can anyone suggest where to look, rather than me just poke around. Ideas please? Car is a 1999 1.9 SXI

PROBLEM SOLVED !! Thanks for the information about the rear window switch, all is now working again. Excellent help from this forum.

Thanks for that idea. My brother has the car at the moment and its him who has reported the problem so I bet he has played with the swiitch! I will get him to check asap.

The cigarette lighter socket on my 1999 Octavia 1.8 20v SXI has suddenly stopped working. Its used for the phone charger and the sat nav so its a bit of a pain. Checked the fuse which is OK, but there is no power arriving at the plug behind/under the handbrake. So it appears that power is OK at the fusebox but it doesn't get to the cigarette lighter. Is there a junction in the wiring harness that could have come apart? Anyone got any ideas please.
