  1. I found the plugs were pretty old and incorrectly gapped. I cleared the fault, swapped coil 1 with coil 2 and ran the engine again. It still ran really badly and the management light came on again, misfire detected cylinder 1 this time. My local parts supplier had the coil in stock at a whole 17 quid. So I replaced all three and threw in a set of plugs too. Car now runs well. Thanks Alvie
  2. Ok folks, the results are in and I need a bit of advice as to what to do next. I only got one code; 16686 cylinder 2 misfire detected (P0302) I have also looked at the readiness test and it is all passes ? I am going to have a look at the connections on the coil and the condition of the spark plug. Maybe even swap the coil with one of the others. And then run it again and see what comes up. Any advice greatfully recieved. Thanks Alvie
  3. Hi Folks, My 2005 1.2 fabia classic broke down the other day. The engine management light came on as the car broke down and has stayed on since and the car is now pretty much undriveable. The symptoms are; It won't idle, just hunts constantly between 1 and 2k. Engine sounds fine, just as if someone is playing about with the accelerator. When driven though the engine really struggles, especially under load. My wife only just managed to get it home by driving it at low revs in a high gear. Possibly coincidental, possibly not, but it had a new front section of exhaust fitted two days before the breakdown, followed by a slight burning smell once you got out of the car. I work away from home at the moment and so cannot look at this until I get home on Wednesday. I have a diagnostic scanner and so will post the codes here once I get them. What is likely to be wrong with it ? My guess is that the lambda sensor has been damaged during the fitting of the exhaust, but would this cause symptoms like this ? Has anyone seen this sort of thing before ? Or give me some pointers on common things I sould check ? Thanks Alvie
