Hello everybody. I recently purchased my fourth Skoda, my third Mk2 Octavia. It's a 2005 1.9 tdi hatch that I got at a really good price. Apart from a DSG and front fogs it's a very standard thing so there are quite a few things I'd like to upgrade, which I'd like to ask your advice and opinions on. 1) I -want- a jumbo box. There is just something about it that makes me feel the car is a lot more car somehow. I'm having trouble sourcing what I need, there don't seem to be a lot of them on ebay? Do you think a UK scrapyard would send me what I need if I contact them or are these things just rare? 2) It only has electric windows in the front, how much of a hazzle would it be to retrofit them in the rear? 3) Tune - it's done 240.000 km (about 150k miles), but being a turbo I'm thinking it can be boosted a bit more? How complicated is getting it tuned (or doing it myself if possible) and is it likely to damage the DSG? 4) Audio upgrades - I've got the stream and would like something a little more fancy, preferably with active aux and bluetooth, android enabled touchscreen wouldn't be bad. What have you guys been doing on this front, how important is it to stay with a Skoda unit vs. aftermarket? I'll throw in some pictures later if you're interested, but it's still just basically a stock white Mk2. That will change though, and when it does I'll do a before and after thread! Bye for now, JJ

My dad even worked for the SAAB dealership when I was little, but even then I was alone in my interest. Since then SAAB have had a special place in my heart, BMW got in there in the nineties, and I've had a thing for Skodas since I first opened the trunk of a Mk1 Octavia (still think they've got some Harry Potter magic going on with the size of the trunks on the inside vs. the outside!). I would bet good money that kit is for the manual version, but thanks for your help anyways.

Motor factors? I did ask a local Skoda specialist, which said they bought the OEM ones from the dealership since they hadn't found another source, and EuroCarParts only seem to carry the ones for a manual transmission.

Hi everyone! I'm having trouble finding the correct inner CV-joint for my car. It's a 2005 Estate, 1.6 petrol and AUTOMATIC (which is the problem) The dealership has the original for about 5 times what other CV-joints costs, so I'm looking for an alternative. If you could point me in the direction of someone willing to sell me those CV-joints and ship them to Iceland I would be extremely grateful!

Hello everybody! I just came back to the fold after owning my first SAAB (had been dreaming of those most of my life ever since my dad worked at a dealership when I was very young). Before I've had a MkI Fabia and a MkII TDI Octavia hatch as well as a MkII Golf GTI for a short stint. This time I got my hands on a MPI Octavia estate (a bit lucky really, since the only reason I could afford it was that I got it a lot cheaper than the usual going rate). I first found briskoda.net when I owned the TDI, registered but never got around to participating on the forums. This time around I will be needing to do some work on the car and I've already had some help from old posts and wanted to get to know you a bit more. So here I am. I live in Iceland where prices for cars and parts are insane so I will have to be more conservative than I'd like in my actions, but I'm looking forward to learning about and discussing the various things that are available to us. For the moment what I need to do is change at least one of the universal joints (google translate - sorry about that - don't think the Icelandic word will help but it's hjöruliður) on the car. From the mechanics I've talked to I've learned that it's likely to be one of the inner ones. Since I haven't been able to get the car on a lift yet I don't know if it's the left or right one though. One of the doorknobs has also been disconnected so I need to open the door and reconnect that. Was lucky though, because the door originally had the child lock engaged. A local locksmith was able to thread a wire into the hole left by the cable in the knob and open the door, so I was able to disengage the child lock. There are also a few cosmetic damages from shoddy repair work by the previous owner which I will fix a.s.a.f.p. (The f is for fiscally, why, what were you thinking?) Once those are all complete there are quite a few things I want to do. First I want the Jumbo Box. And an aux-connection on the stereo. Tint on the rear windows. And I saw leather steering wheel and emc-brake handle on www.superskoda.com I'd really like. Do you have experience dealing with them? Anyways, hope to gain some friends and have some fun, so please don't be a stranger. I'll leave you with some pictures of the car...
