Bit of a long shot here but MANY moons ago my grandfather owned a Skoda dealership in swindon called County Road Garage. does anyone have anything with the compnay name on it? dealer window sticker? service sheet? anything really. if you do could you stick a piccy up as i'd love to see it. the garage was a huge part of my families history but since he passed away the storys and memories have faded. any help would be muchly appreciated

It's a mith that chattering is bad for the turbo, not even the big turbo companys can hand on heart say its bad!!! I've been running my vrs for over 45k without a dump valve and she chatters more than a scouser on smack with no problems what so ever and bearing in mind I'm on the original turbo at 175k that's peaking @ 18psi I think she'd have been a Prime candidate for failing. -
Anyone done a how to guide for clutch changing on Vrs?
furry replied to vrsjelly's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
one of the easiest clutches to do as box is easy to get out. last one i did was done in under 3 hours on my back with no air tools. you will need a long multispline socket to undo the drive shaft bolts. -
this is exactly what i have had on mine for the last year on idel from cold on boost the cars coming up on 174k no so been on there nearly 15k with no issues or loss of power.

i had this on a 2008 audi TT dsg, the dealer ended up replacing the ecu inside the box, all sorted and fault never reoccured.

i had this after fitting a g60/vrs set up. did 8k like it and then changed for another vr6 clutch. still did it :( i had already repalced the slave clyinder so thought it had to be the master. changed that and it made a hell of a difference. the old master was sticking on release so not allowing the clutch to grip smoothly. only prob is that now the clutch has slipped it won;t bed back in 100% so get a small amount of random slip every now and again.

Octavia - wiper problem (front & rear)
furry replied to badbobby's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
i have the same prob with mine but only the front wiper. disconnected the rear motor still does it, so last night i removed the linkage to replace the lot with one from a golf and it had the wrong multiplug on it. put mine back in and it was fine come out this am and the bl00dy things playing up again. do your wipers park high as well when you put it on intermittent? -
Nicest sounding 1.8t I've ever heard
furry replied to rk696's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
it sure is a standard tip infact it's a standard system all the way through but just minus the back box this was replaced with a straight through pipe that splits into 2 before a standard tip was fitted to make it look OE. It surprised me how much the orginal back box weighed!! i was gutted i missed coombe last weekend as i was hoping to give it it's first track session with it fitted :( many comments were made last year that our track session was the quietest one all day, so wanted to surprise a few peeps lol -
171k on mine and still returning 42mpg daily, first clutch was done at 149k still on original engine / turbo / gearbox
