  1. Thanks all, looks like a call to the garage is in order. Thank goodness for the warranty! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
  2. I recently turned on the windscreen heater, the one that's made up of very fine wires in the glass, but one second later it turned itself off. Is there something that doesn't allow it to turn on if the temperature isn't cold enough? Trying to work out if I need to get it fixed before the weather turns colder.
  3. Got my car back from the second (closer) dealership today. In the end the software for the climate control had to be reprogrammed remotely by Skoda UK technicians. All is working ok now, though only driven it for 20 minutes since collecting it. A great relief as I will be driving to the south of France and I didn't fancy having to do it with open windows to stay cool. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  4. At full blast it does make a decent amount of noise, but also a decent amount of airflow. If you are not getting the airflow then that seems wrong to me! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  5. That sounds like the problem that I had till the initial firmware update fixed it. There is a TPI(?) from Skoda detailing the problem and the firmware update is the fix.
  6. The second dealership has just rung to tell me that the software has been corrupted. What I didn't mention in my earlier post is that early Saturday morning I took my car to the first dealership as they were due to update my maps from v8 to v9 as part of an agreement when I bought the car that I would get the first update for free. It was on the way back from there that I noticed that the air conditioning was not working as on the way there the weather was cool enough that I had not needed to use it. A further frustration is that when I got home I saw that the map was still at v8! All in all a right state of affairs as I now wonder if it was the map 'update' that corrupted the software for the air con. Anyway, car still at second dealer whilst they investigate (and I am out of the country for a few days so that's ok with me). Sent via Tapatalk
  7. After 11 months of ownership (from new) I had no problems whatsoever. Then the climate control started behaving strangely, blasting hot air from one side, cold from the other and wildly fluctuating fan speeds, so I booked it into the dealership where I had purchased it for repair under warranty. They took a look, sent diagnostics to Skoda UK and a day later told me that I needed a new controller. Unfortunately it was out of stock in the UK so I had to wait two weeks, whereupon it was fitted. On the drive home it started misbehaving again, not as dramatically but still wrong. This time I took it to my nearest Skoda dealership and they applied a software update and that appears to have fixed the problem. Frustrating that the software appears not to have been applied when the new controller was installed! Then four days later (last Saturday) the air conditioning completely stopped working! Not a puff of cold air! I noticed that the small light on the a/c button is no longer coming on, though the Columbus unit display states "a/c on". It's back into the local dealership today, I haven't the time to drive to the one that I bought it from this time . Of course the weather is extra warm this week, plus I am going to the South of France in two weeks so I hope that it is properly resolved by then, but it's been four weeks since I first took it in! Other than that, very happy with the car! Sent via Tapatalk
  8. Thanks, I will take a look at them. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  9. I already have the factory fitted blinds (they fit in the rear doors), however I do not think that they block the UK. Also they do not block the rear 1/4 windows or the back window. Therefore I am considering the tinted glass option. I think that a medium tint plus the side window blinds will give me what I want. Sent via Tapatalk
  10. Please can those of you who have had their windows tinted please share the level of tint, colour of your car and if you feel that it was worth it for you? Thanks.
  11. For me it is a mixture, in order of priority: UV protection Reduction of sun glare and reduced heating when car is parked Aesthetics Privacy So from the above you can guess that I won't be going for a very dark tint as I believe that the UV protection comes from the film layer regardless of the darkness of tint, though I need enough tint to try and reduce how hot the car will get sitting in a sunny car park. What I don't want to do is make the car look like a gangster car or VIP limo so something like 35% or 20%, I will be taking advice from whichever company I use. Still not 100% convinced as to whether I will go ahead, but giving it some serious consideration.
  12. Thank you both. I will give Phantom Tinting a call to get an estimate. Now I just need to decide on the strength of tint to go for!
  13. Hi, I am considering getting a tint added to my Steel Grey combi windows. Has anybody any experience of this and got a recommendation as to who I should get to do the work, I am in south Essex. What should I watch out for, what techniques/options are there for tinting? Edit, I have the auto dim rear view mirror, what allowances do I need to make to keep that working? Thanks, Paul
  14. Hi, I have an occasional problem with my drivers seat memory set position not working when I unlock/open the door. As those of you with electric seats may know, you can program the seats to go to a particular position dependant on which key you use to unlock/open the door. What should happen is that when I unlock the door with my remote key and then open the door the seat should go to my pre-set position, and most of the time that happens. However every now and then the seat stays in the position that it was before I opened the door, requiring me to shut the door, press the unlock again, then re-opening the door whereupon this time the seat does move to the correct position. Not the end of the world, but a little frustrating and not as it should be. Has anyone experienced this and if so was there a fix for it? BTW, the distance that I am from the car does not make seem to make a different, (often I am close to the door and it still happens), nor does the amount of time between pressing the unlock button and opening the door. My car is approx 11 months old and in the 11 months this is the only problem that I have found, other than my tendency too spend too much time cleaning it. Thanks for any info, Paul
